There are three distinctly different styles going on with the transform hate:
1. People who simply don't like the mechanic or how it was presented.
-Fair enough. I can understand your viewpoint.
2. People who have no idea how the mechanic will actually work in practice.
-Think before you speak. Half of the worries you have are going to be nonexistent 99.9% of the time. Yeah, the draft thing is a little bizarre, but it isn't game defining. It's 9% of the set and it adds a new, different element. If it doesn't wind up working well with the playerbase, it'll be changed for the future or avoided. Until then, pass the card if you don't want to take it. I dread the jackasses who will go out of their way to disrupt the first week of drafts by being obnoxious about staring at passed stacks of cards, etc or refusing to make a decision until the drafter with the transform card chooses it or a hidden "normal" card.
3. People who can't be bothered to read about how the mechanic works in theory, let alone practice.
-I know reading is hard and it takes a lot of your time, but it'll make you look a lot less dumb. Questions like, "How can I get checklist cards with this crap?" and "So my opponent can just use any transform card he wants as long as he has the checklist? Great job wizards" and "How does it work with morph?" make no sense in the context of the information presented.
Ugh… I like the general feel of the set, and am quite happy with the enemy duals (wanted to see those for a long time ), but just can't get over the fact that it's yet another Vampires vs. Werewolves plot-line. It's like Twilight all over again.
Also, yes most of us play with sleeves, but many casual players do not. Double-sided cards mess that up.
I'm pretty sure the Van Helsing movie was out before Meyer ever picked up a pen...;)
Also, the double-sided card's don't mess that up, because you use the checklist proxy in that case.

I swear to god, I hear any more mention of "Twilight" in regard to this set...I will go out and find some card sleeves with them and build a werewolf/vamp deck just to troll...
pulling cards out of sleeves to flip them seems EXTREMELY cumbersome, but I guess I don't mind leaving the physical cards in my deckbox and playing with the checklist card in a sleeve, that's SLIGHTLY less annoying.
First impression: not too happy. The idea seems cool (flip your card and TRANSFORM!!) but in practice i feel like this could become extremely time consuming and clunky.
We'll see.

I stand corrected on the double sided (gameplay) card speculation. I still think it's wonky as all get out, and as someone posted above, terribly cumbersome.
I also think that the "checklist" is an ugly substitute - I'd like to see an official backed card that functions more like a proxy vs. the checklist - if only for aesthetics purposes, then sure go fetch your double sided card from outside your deck. Still a tad cumbersome.
I need to move to the west coast so i can go to these :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:( sadness.

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.
I invision a future where one is not mighty when he can silence a crowd with brutality,
but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
I'm torn on the transform mechanic in general, but, there's one aspect of it I really don't like: the color dot next to the transformed creature's type. Really wizards, really? We couldn't tell that the creature changed color by a frame, you had to add an ugly, monocolored dot at random in the type box?

As much as I'm against the OTT view that this card is going to solo tournaments, cure cancer and make Susan Boyle attractive I'm not really a fan of the opposing camp who think it slaughters puppies and sired Justin Bieber.

I am pretty sure that the World of Darkness and Vampire the Masquerade covered it long before then, not to mention when Dracula went against the Wolfman.

So Olivia is the flying Masticore, ginchy. She'll be interesting to play in block if you can mana ramp her some how. At least in EDH she'll be equally just as interesting as a general to take control of the board. Too bad the old stacking rules were still in, there's a lot that could be done to shift block and have a creature block itself and die.

Honestly, for being the birthplace of the whole thing, the Seattle area is kind of a lousy place to be a Magic player, as far as attention from WotC is concerned (not knocking the LGS's). Population density isn't high enough to put us up with the major cities and we're too far from other cities of note, so the big events almost entirely end up back East, where things are closer together, or California, where the population is so high. If Penny Arcade didn't happen to be running an event at just the right time, these parties would be nonexistent or someplace bigger.
Olivia Voldaren seems pretty cool. I guess there were so many people trying to splash red into vampire decks that WOTC finally gave them a legitimate reason to do so.

I read the thread from the beginning until I passed out, still without finding any information. Does anyone know where the info is, in this thread? With 1300 posts, there's got to be some. But where? Thanks.
EDIT: Found it - third pulldown in the second post!
