Okay, this is what I expected them to do, and, to me, is NOT the same thing as "the cards are double-sided."
The cards are single-sided, with a double-sided insert to go along with it and represent the card in play.
Man, I am getting so much excitement whiplash over this thing. I really wish they had revealed this mechanic in an article and not at this party, so we could get the whole story at once.
THE CARDS ARE DOUBLE-SIDED. IT'S BEEN SAID BY MULTIPLE PEOPLE ON WIZARDS OF THE COASTS' TWITTER ACCOUNTS, AND BY PEOPLE AT THE PARTY. STOP TRYING TO ARGUE THAT THEY ARE NOT DOUBLE SIDED.
"If I do go to heaven, I'll smack god across the face and tell him to get me a grilled-cheeses sandwhich and then say 'Yea what now god!? Say some'in! I dare you!' "
Wait, now I'm confused. So the double cards ARE tokens? And the "real" cards are ones that never actually enter the battlefield because the token replaces them? That is sensible, and actually much, much cooler than having just a nighttime token with player tips on the back side...but it still begs the question of how we handle draft, and is saddening that we only get one transformer/pack (and because the insert has to be there, it means we either actually get 16/pack occasionally, or we don't even get a transformer every pack). Also, how will foil transformers work? Foil token? Foil normal? Foil both?

Each pack has the single sided version and the double sided version so you can use either, but you use the double sided version when its in play.
Thank God.
Now they still have to fix the problem of people seeing your double-faced card during a draft. Are we supposed to not fan out our cards while looking through a pack?
you guys didn't mind morph or flip cards that much....your all two faced
.....you dumb? thats totally different, people are complaining because there is no anonymous backs to the cards now. if it werent for the proxy that are coming in packs, you would be able to tell what card the opponent had in their hand/on top of their library, chose from the pack in the draft and what colors they are going.
I don't think you'll be able to play these double sided cards without sleeves at all...
You can see through some of the ones that are supposedly opaque. I started noticing it when I was proxying parts of decks by turning cards face-down before sleeving them.
This new information about one-sided "checklist" cards pretty much erases that fear, though. And also erases anyone else's fears about Drafting being impossible. (I'm assuming that the night versions don't exist in "checklist" form, because they have no mana cost and don't need to be in the deck for shuffling.)

Yes, because we're supposed to know some obscure quote from a comedian from years ago.
Also, the asking for your stuff thing is a common joke to ask someone who claims they are quitting. If you won't relinquish your stuff you aren't serious about quitting.
Anyways Maro has confirmed double-sided cards so I'm pretty pumped atm.
I never said you needed to know the quote, I was just saying it jokingly. It was a joke. I'm upset about double-sided cards. It's kind of a weird idea. It's nuts. I can make jokes too... And really, don't you have anything better to do then harass me? Troll? And how come you can't quit and save your stuff as collectables to sell in the future? Come on, get serious.
shoot, this could be fun, I mean, i wasn't for it when I first heard the idea, but honestly the only real bad mistake I thought that WOTC did was not continue the other Deckmaster lines. So I am looking forward to this, but if it doesn't work good for me, I just don't have to use them.
Plus if you get a regular back version, it will fix the problem that I had with it in putting it in my binder.
you guys didn't mind morph or flip cards that much....your all two faced
Morph, Flip, Planeswalkers... any single new mechanic you can name, none of them remotely compare to the idiocy of printing double-sided cards.
FORTUNATELY, that's not what they did. There are still single-sided cards (you know, the things you actually put in your deck), but they're replaced by a 2-sided, complete-text insert while in play.
That's acceptable, if a little logistically complex for packaging and draft.
Gp & PT drafts will not have double sided cards replaced. Players will have to accept that people can see it. One note...However drafts will no longer require the most recent card be top of the drafted cards stack. So hide the double sided!
If checklist cards are just the one version, regular style, and it comes with another card that has the regular+flip... Why not just put in another card that just has the flip? That way you just always lay the additional card on top of the original, and take it off. Seems like using the two sided one is a bigger hassle, and it shows which two sided card you take (if you fan out the cards...it can obviously be avoided, but I'm guessing some are accidentally shown...it just seems unnecessary to make such a controversial mechanic).
Yeah...a new page every time I finish one. Let's all pause posting for a little, lol.

Hopefully this won't get washed away in the panic (lol) of the thread, but when we had double-sided Objective cards in Star Wars CCG we just used a clear penny sleeve. The protection wasn't as good as shields, but you weren't shuffling with it, either, so it evened out. Just put the "checklist" (or whatever is going on?) version of the card in your library with a shielded sleeve.
As for how this works in draft, I'd imagine you take out the double-sided transformer with the tokens (obligatory glaring at the draft-mates when they see exactly what the rare in your pack was, perhaps) then take the checklist card as your pick. Whoever has the checklist card takes the transform version at the end of the draft. Or maybe every transform guy will be so good he's first-pickable? =P
As for me personally, I was all set to be stoked with the theory of the transform version being an overlay card, but the double-sided-with-checklist-for-the-library is an even more elegant solution, and I'm super excited about the mechanic.
EDIT: 'Nath'd by Twitter announcement, unsurprisingly -_-
Well as long as there arent double faced cards who cares. Drafts might be more akward with this super token nonsense? Do not care in the least. Not. At. All.
The card is double sided, but you don't use it in your deck. A token (single sided) is used in the deck, you bring in the double sided card when you play the token.
Or something like that...is it midnight yet so we can read the article, lol.
Wait a minute... They seriously made double faced cards??? Wasn't that fact that they couldn't change the back of the cards one of the reasons why they couldn't make a 6th color. WTF??? What's going on over there????

I'm affiliating with who ever deals more Poison counters, unless the other side uses more Purple mana that is. Then again I guess I'll go with the side that has better Riggers, I have a feeling Contraptions will play a big part this block.
