Yea...given how far they design in advance, he surely knew about this card when he wrote that.
Though the test was looking for answers based on what Wizards had been doing up to that point, not what they were planning for the future. That policy was still in place when the most current cards at that time had been designed. A test answer based on a policy change that wouldn't take effect for another year isn't a very good gauge of design knowledge/pattern recognition.
I definitely recall Rosewater writing this "Lifelink can be very swingy, so we don't print creatures with lifelink with power greater than 2 at common."
Yeah... Limited just became interesting with this...
Someone who drafts 3-4 of these will have a ball

So, no decent Counterspell or Removal so far.
I'm starting to get worried...
There are still a hundred cards yet to be spoiled. A decent counterspell isn't guaranteed to show up, but SOME kind of hard counter pretty much is. Meanwhile, there will probably be a decent removal spell in black (already got one in red). Maybe not awesome enough to make waves in standard, but it'll be there for limited at least.
That said, love the red aura. Hate the 3/1 vampire.
Limited chaff, but that helps complete our Horror-Artifacts (Got the Torch, got the Pitchfork, now we have a Shovel).
But that shovel is not an equipment! I want to wang people with my shovel, dammit! Slap an arbitrary +1/+0 on there and make it equip-able, sheesh
But yeah, the PvZ card if hilarious, but otherwise limited only stuff, but the spirit makes UW spirits look better and better for draft.

The wall actually seems really decent. A u/g control archetype seems to be shaping up for limited, and this guy fits in there pretty well. If only it had reach.... or drew a card...
ok, where in the world are all these cards coming from. what, did someone snag a bunch of cards from an office or something? this is the 6th set of them now.
the one that stands out to me the most is the red enchantment. in limited aggro there should be some creatures you know you'll always swing with. plus it's super cheap at one mana.
I bet they could give this guy one more toughness if they bumped the cost up to 1WW. Oh wait, no they couldn't. Even if they wanted to.
Thanks again, Reserved List. I can rest easy knowing that my binder of 100 Thunder Spirits is still worth something. (I invest in Thunder Spirits instead of stocks, bonds, or mutual funds because I am crazy.)
Graveyard Shovel. ...Now that is awesome flavor. I love the plant with prot. from zombie cancer.
This is the set for flavor. Real, delicious flavor on a scale unseen in Magic since its inception in Alpha. Even if it didn't have actually well-designed cards, INN would still seriously be downright fun for that.

Don't worry, Bludgeon Brawl has your back. Slap it on a creature and disem-trowel your opponents.

Prey Upon?
Closest we'll get to Thunder Spirit (no, Double Strike skyhunter from Fifth Dawn doesn't count). Goddamn that list.
I did actually know about Doran, but its not a CRAB! Why couldn't the tree be a crab!
There would have been a message here about Jace, but Jace feigned interest and counterspelled any other reference of him in my signature...

+1 for pun.
It's quite nice that they've gone so deep on flavor with Innistrad, makes the return to Ravnica next year all the more saliva inducing.
