its a bit more expensive, but the sheer fact that in pod decks it is pure targeted removal on a stick every turn is just backbreaking.
it has evasion, it is the same cost, AND it auto kills any titan every turn.
this also allows for more shenanigans.
finally i could see this working amazingly well if MBC EVER takes off.
It's weird that with the Commander decks and Kaalia being printed that they're actually doing decent demons. It's just so weird that Kaalia has Demons worth cheating into play. I guess the problem was that Demons had the drawbacks to make up for the cheaper costs and Kaalia doesn't care about that.
May not see serious competitive play but will sure see Commander play. Best creature to compare it with is Butcher of Malakir. Decently sized flyer with Gravepact on it and in a better tribe. Not player in Standard (as way to slow) but I'm sure it's been in many a Commander deck.
Has no one mentioned that Evil Twin has been spoiled.. according to gathering magic? I would post a new thread but I'm not sure...
2UG
You may have - come into play as another creature as a battlefield if you do - has 2ug (tap): destroy target creature with the same name as -
the demon is just ok. most of you are over-estimating it, some are under-estimating it. its fine. it has a big enough body for its mana cost so it can be considered. its effect is useful against some decks, but not against others so its not a grand slam. it has nice interaction with some cards (Birthing Pod in particular).
the bottom line is that 6 mana creatures have to be VERY VERY powerful and the demon is just barely in the required power range. the biggest problem it has, that will never be solved, is that it doesn't do anything against opponents who have no creatures in play that you need to destroy. what you've got with this card is a fatty that goods against midrange creature decks. thats not impressive to me. 6 mana creatures are already a bit too much to be good against aggro decks or combo decks because they are slow. 6 mana creatures that are good against control decks (like Consecrated Sphinx) are very unusual and so they get alot of attention. 6 mana creatures that are good at dominating midrange decks are just utterly typical. non-special in every way. it will win some games but underperform in others. i'm not a huge fan.
i think it makes a good 1 of target for Pod decks because they can go get it when its relevant. i think its not appealing enough to played as a finisher in control or ramp. there aren't really any other types of decks that can use this. so i see exactly 1 viable use case. pretty meh.
Pretty sure this will see at least marginal play as an extremely good target for birthing pod. The simple play of saccing a 5 mana creature to get a 6 mana creature that guarantees a kill at end of turn if it's not remove is incredible. If you are both playing on-curve and your opponent taps out turn six for a titan, you can untap and search up this, killing his titan. Tutorable removal sounds extremely good to me. Even as a one-of, just having it as a search option will give you a great amount of flexibility. For every case of him just dying before he gets to his end step, just consider that he can also absolutely shut the game away if he isn't removed immediately.
the biggest problem it has, that will never be solved, is that it doesn't do anything against opponents who have no creatures in play that you need to destroy.
The issue with the Reaver not seeing play, I think, would be that he is overshadowed by the Titans, who are already established as very good finishers. Many people would rather use something they already have, they know well, and could very well be better, than something new. I actually like the demon very much after giving it some thought. Mana cost could be easier, but you could say that about a lot of things.
Many people thought Consecrated Sphinx was just kind of a cool card when it came out, but look where it is now. I think we shouldn't make any judgments until the set is out and it has had a chance to be played with.
Silent Departure I think kinda got screwed by the whole sorcery thing. I could be wrong, and again there's no way to know yet, but if it was an instant I could imagine it seeing constructed play.
I swear I first read it as Wingbonger...something tells me that "As Long as Wingbonger is paired with another creature, both creatures have weed." wouldn't be as good. Seems solid for limited.
Well the Reaper is just worse than nearly every other 6 drop , especially in black.
The last you really need is "removal" on your 6 drop ; black has plenty of that anyway.
This card would greatly gain bonus for being cheaper ; at 6 it will not help to keep you alive ; and if it drops, you either killed anything anyway (as otherwise it killed you) or they drop the removal for you.
Obvisious spoiler in Limited, like nearly any Mythic they print (thats not some random non-creature / non-planeswalker).
Overall the power level goes down, by quite a lot actual.
It feels like kamigawa ; after Mirrodin (ironically, we had Mirrodin v2).
It has flip cards (transform) and random graveyard matters (spirits) ; it allmost repeats.
Flavour alone wont sell well ; while its a nice thing to have for an allready great set.
The Unsummon god damn needs to be Instant ; "that" would give it a real reason and make it actual quite usefull ; for Limited, its totally playable, removes 2 times blockers, and will give a nice value if they tap out 2 times while you beat on them.
The unsummon god was meant to be a limited card period. Hence why it was shown in a limited column when spoiled. And Black is worse then any other 6 drop especially in black? Because black has so many good ones? Grave Titan, Wrexial, and Massacre wurm. and what else?

Why thank you sir... or madam lol.
As a casual player who doesn't live near an lgs it is hard for me to obtain stuff like titans and if I pulled this I wouldn't complain that it isn't a Titan I'd promptly put it in my murder based kaalia.
I'm a legitimate fan of both cards.
The blue unsummon w/ flashback is important as it's an upgrade to the usual "bounce something" since down the road you can get it again (or in older formats/edh, you can Dredge/Loam-use it).
The Demon is just pure awesome fun. Kaalia is getting some new boytoys in this set and Mr. Sniper-pants is a very very solid upgrade over some of Kaalia's current entourage members. The trigger is very strategic, so mythic is a fine call by WotC. Very impressed with the 6/6 frame for 6 + the sniper situations. Hell, if your people died during the turn, you take it out on the opponent.

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.

I am indeed a sir. And exactly. If people spent less time complaining about where they can't play something and more time on where they can play it things would work out a lot better. I mean yes some cards are bad. Chimney Imp is an example of a card that in 99% of situations is absolutely terrible. Saying a 6/6 flier for 6 is bad is an incredibly rash judgment. I, like yourself, would love to pull this card.
I swear I first read it as Wingbonger...something tells me that "As Long as Wingbonger is paired with another creature, both creatures have weed." wouldn't be as good. Seems solid for limited.
Black has a ton of discard effects, blue can counter spells, red has direct damage. Yes, the color pie is soooo cool and make this game sooo nice...
What was your point?
No, Baneslayer was good regardless. Just becouse there is a creature better in that format, it does not mean the card is bad. Jackal Pup does not become a bad creature just becouse Goblin Guide is better.
If in M13 Titans are not reprinted, when M12 rotates... this suddenly become a good creature??
You seem to have this thing called common sense. It's an undervalued commodity these days. Not enough supply or demand.

They should make a hater cycle.
Same states as BSA but for the other big color creatures.
And still so much hate on the demon due to power creep comparison.

May I suggest swinging for 6?
