Which means that I could find the a-card in a booster pack and b-card in another booster pack, and I will need both of them to upgrade a to b in a Limited match?
Looks silly to me, it was better if the b-card was just a normal token.
Some popular speculation is that the boosters are packaged in such a way that whenever you open an A version in a pack, the B version will also be in the pack replacing the token card (or something along those lines).

Haven't looked at this thread for 24 hours, and all the old theories have returned like nothing happened.
Double-sided cards, rigged booster packs, individual day/night triggers..
By default a match should start as day, so you can cast creatures like the mayor. Now there may be different ways to trigger night, but I hope there's just one to keep it simple. The night mode takes effect at the start of your next upkeep. At this time only spells with the moon symbol may be played. Transformations take place during upkeep. I am not sure though if transformation goes to the stack so it can be responded to. Ok so your strategy is to attack at night when your creatures are big. When the turn ends, it goes back to day mode. When the alpha dies you place the mayor in the GY. There's no reason to bring back into the battlefield the mayor when he's just been killed by a spell, combat damage. Just my thoughts.
That means there are 264 numbered cards, but there could be an additional 264 a or b versions if they want to do that. There are at a minimum 265 unique cards int his set.
Unless you think they are going to go 1.... 193a, 193b, 195, 196a, 196b, 198, 199... 264.
Skipping numbers entirely? Unlikely... It's 265 cards at a minimum.

It's the worst part of spoiler season. People dive into threads without looking through 30+ pages of rants (not that I blame them), and then you find 3-6 people repeating themselves over and over because they are trying to keep the peace. Then those threads get lost in the 10 NEW posts that have cropped up with bizarre ideas.

Agreed... I wish people would just wait, because we'll know all about the mechanic in a week or two.
I haven't seen this anywhere in the thread, so I'll throw it out there. Could it be that the werewolf card is just for promoting the set, and outside of promos everything is contained in 1 card, like the levelers were? I know it's unlikely, because we do have the a and b beside the collector number, but I can't help but lean towards that possibility with the Mayor having 2 places for power/toughness.
Not sure if anyone brought this up, but does anyone find it weird that the Mayor has a candle lit when it's broad daylight and he's right next to that giant window?

I have giant windows next to my desk, but when I study for school I general have a lamp on. He would be casting a shadow since the light source is from behind... besides makes it a better painting I think.
Sense there are parts A&B to these cards i wonder if they work like the new duel masters cards, two-sided and features a creature on both sides. And you play them from their own deck thats set aside at the beginning of a game. I know this is not likely sense wizards are more to likely not change the back of cards case and point the Arabian Nights expansion, plus then they'd have to make a new zone for the cards.
Maybe day and night works like a turn marker the player that goes first in the match when its their turn its day while on there opponents turn its night? Sorry if someone already thought of this. =\

Actually, we'll know in a few days, my guess. PAX party is Saturday night when they give us some juicy bits. If not, then Monday for sure whent he main site starts giving us spoils.
Don't know if anyone has pointed this out yet, and it's definitely not like, useful information... I just thought it was really cool that if you look at the Window behind the mayor and the Window the Alpha is plunging out of... they are the same window. Very nice flavor

It's scented. He can't open the window up to let the stink out.
Lol I wonder if they went through the whole thread.
On topic: It has been said that there isn't a massive focus on tribes in this block (although this mechanic could make for some sweet interactions among them) Maybe if we look at how other cards might interact with day/night, we can get a better understanding on the mechanic. For example, a removal spell. Something like: W; Exile Target creature as long as it is day time. If this is the second spell played this turn, it is now day time. Return that creature to the battlefield when it becomes night time.
Or something like that. Note: I am not sold on the idea of playing a number of spells to change day/night, it'd just a rough idea

Why would you need both? The mayor already has a reminder about the PT of its night form on it. I know it's been said, many times throughout this meandering thread, but I see them working as if it were a token albeit not a proper token. It's there for completionists but otherwise I would say that the b form is unnecessary for play

Umm...just a thought but how about there being a selection of wolf (or even horror) cards with no mana cost. To play such a card it would require you to have a human werewolf card on the field with an indication as to what it can become i.e. the mayor had 3/3> on him, so maybe you could put any 3/3 werewolf down by sacrificing him first. And I presume the werewolf's will have additional abilities abilities also.
Good thinking! Just what the other 500 posts before have said...
Creatures with no mana cost are called tokens (Dryad Arbor is a land)
I hope the day/night mechanic isn't controlled by any of the following things:
-random (coin flip)
-turns (will feel like phasing, which was awful)
-number of lands in play
-number of spells cast this turn
I'm hoping they just attach it certain spells. Like a Shock with an extra clause that says "if it is night, change to day" (obviously with different wording).

we cannot see the word before the card name, but I'm pretty sure its either sacrifice or turn back to normal....
