Because conservative bias is a far, far worse thing. Liberal bias doesn't, statistically speaking, make people stupid. Conservative bias (or at least Fox's version of it) does.
The Timewalk art is ok, not bad but not great either. I like it but the original art is more to my liking. As for FOW... I freakin hate it. far too bland and seeing it in new frame renders cements it. If there was to be a new fow art the JVC counterspell art would be much better.

This art and Stoic Rebuttal do a better job of conveying what the spell does though and IMO look much better.
Take someone that doesn't play MTG, yet has a basic understanding of it, show them the art (ONLY, no card frames) for both versions of the cards and ask them which one they think is a counter spell. I bet the majority of people would guess that the new art is the counter spell over the old art.
Or not. I hate the original art on that card. When I look at it, I see Kirk Hammett taking a dump.
This... except the Kirk Hammett (although, now it can't be unseen...)
Also, couldn't they do a single card reprinted with the new card and award that to the winner? I know that the reserve list is for reprinting cards, but I thought that was more to stop them from getting into Standard or Limited. I'm sure a normal-sized one-of-a-kind alternate-art reprint would not only be much more rewarding to actually be able to play with it, but would probably fetch an even higher price if sold because of the first point.
Why don't they give out real cards (that is regular sized playable cards) with these arts to the champions? That would be such an awesome incentive to play!
They'd probably end up being worth $5,000 to $20,000 (uneducated estimate).
Oh great FoW gets a new art. I'm getting flashes of the ISD spoiler season now, yes the visions are coming as the troll spirits speak to me. There will be fake FoW spoilers and some fool is going to post this picture and treads will be locked. Nice one WotC as if the trolls needed more food, and the players needed to be reminded that this card will never be printed again. Cause honestly we don't have the power nine any more it's the power ten, but no one calls it that because you can't see all ten cards in a page at the same time.

The intent is to keep the reprints out of the secondary market. I don't think anyone has any problems with Fork in Standard or Limited.
But the wording is what matters, because even if they could keep the single reprint out of the secondary market, it would still be against what the policy says.
Really? While I agree on FoW, I love the timewalk art. Its already the wallpaer on my phone and it looks gorgeous. I would much prefer if they did art like that on posters rather than "Oh, its jace... again."
Exactly, I am really tired of the poster boy boy.
I also am saddened that quality art like I feel the new TW is can only be had on hard to obtain cards. While I agree that it shouldn't be over exposed like hurloon minotaur or kjeldoran skyknight at least those excellent pieces were readily available for everyone.
Yeah... this is one of the problems with this oversized card program. I mean, I can understand distributing a really badass trophy, but. Here's the problem (subjectively speaking); this art can now not be used for anything that could be distributed much further. It is art for Time Walk. It won't be art for anything else, ever.
Very unfortunate, but at least it provides cool wallpapers. And I wouldn't mind winning that tournament if I was anywhere near good enough at this game.
I know it's a super-long shot, but I'm REALLY hoping Chris Rahn and/or Matt Stewart has prints of this at GenCon on Thursday. I would donate a few organs to get it hanging on my wall.
Also, speaking of, Matt Stewart updated his blog showing some sketches/studies of his work on the FoW piece.
I don't recall seeing anyone say this yet, but that Force of Will art is already used on Magic Online promo for Force of Will from GenCon Legacy Champs. So, it hasn't seen print elsewhere but the art at least has been used.
For me, the original FOW art is about the amount of strength the guy in it seems to be gathering... that's what force of will means to me, the guy is taking every piece of energy he has to counter that spell, and that captures a lot of what the card does. Plus the redish art on a blue spell looks awesome. It's cool to sometimes leave the guy with glasses opening books in standard blue cards lol
This new art shows us a peaceful lady making a sort of yoga thing to counter a spell... that doesn't translate into "force of will" for me.

I always thought of it as the little wizard guy in the corner was repelling the big guy's red spell away from him and his buddies.
For me the original force of will art is very very iconic. I haven't read the card since the first time I read the card a few years ago when I got into legacy. And the card does what it says in the art rather well; the mage in the artwork is willing himself to counter that spell, even if it hurts a little bit to do so because they are willing it to happen. If that makes any sense lol.
If force had been a red card that required a red card to be pitched, goblins would be a real contender in legacy. Lackey backed up with force of will? So sweet. And goblins might actually hardcast it late in the game because it's an aggro control deck. Other than that, blue would be severely weakened in legacy and vintage and it might make combo too good because who wants to play with red cards, leading more combo pieces to be banned. But yeah FoW is rightfully blue.
On the artworks. I absolutely adore the time walk artwork; that art is so good, I almost wish I had the original canvas drawing if it was drawn by hand without computer assistance. The force art is good no doubt but it isn't as good as the original IMO.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
I can confirm that Chris Rahn has prints of the time walk art at his booth this week/weekend at gencon. And they are sexy. Sadly no FoW at Matt stewarts' though

Any chance somebody could mock these up in old-style frames? I'd do it, but I'm at work.

It wouldn't be different at all, because nobody actually hardcasts it.
the best is when someone names blue on painters servant, and you then remove a land to force of will
I think he also meant it to require a red card instead.
