How is this good in limited? It costs six and doesn't do anything when it comes down.
Rage Forger is good in limited, costs 5 and doesnt do anything when it comes down. It will depend on the limited environment, in a slower environment this is a great card, in a faster one, not so much.
Do we have confirmation that Innistrad is not on Immersturm? For that matter, do we have confirmation that Innistrad Block will only follow one plane? I could easily see WotC having a block defined by a conflict between two planes with various 'walkers coming out of the woodwork to protect their own interests.
Up until now wotc has had a policy of the first set is "the name of the place" -> the second is "something bad happens" -> and the third is "that bad thing is resolved(sometimes)" I can't really see them going away from that strategy any time soon it's pretty much the basis for most "conflict based" stories. Also Immersturm is on Valla (most likely a Nordic based plane judging from the name) so it can't be on Innistrad. I really doubt that we will ever see planes-hopping mid-block outside of something like conflux where two planes are colliding with one another.

Immersturm is a place on a plane called Valla, as shown on the card. I think they were more going for the reference that it is one-sided Immersturm effect on a enchantment.
Meh, I didn't check the planechase card. Going from memory, I forgot that Immersturm was the location, not the plane as a whole. The point still applies, though - we don't know that Immersturm has nothing to do with Innistrad, and I haven't seen any confirmation that Innistrad is its own plane or that the block cannot involve multiple planes should it not be on Valla.
This thing is pretty good. About as aggressively costed as they could make it without pushing it over the top. It doesn't take much to find a way to make this sort of effect go infinite. For instance, if a Cloudstone Curio type effect were printed in standard, it would immediately go infinite with memnite.
I definitely like the card, but what is the deal with the card's name? "Waterstorm Surge"? There are plenty of names better evoking a feel of "deals damage when ~ enters the battlefield". Even just a throwback to Flametongue Kavu would have been sweet. Even so, I'm looking forward to playing with this card in casual.

It's not awful in EDH, though, it's not optimal either. I can't think of a deck that would really need this card, but I guess it's better than Personal Sanctuary.

They could pull the whole Lorwyn/Shadowmoor thing where all Lorwyn's inhabitants forgot what their land was called when it turned into Shadowmoor. I'm not really a storyline fanatic but I remember something like that happening.
Names kind of are close together (Innistrad/Immerstrum).
One sided Pandemonium for only 2 more mana. It's a powerful card in limited and a lot of fun for certain EDH decks. Unfortunately for constructed the 6cc is just too expensive since you could on the same turn just cast Inferno Titan/Wurmcoil Engine protecting yourself and going for the win.
I think the finally got it. Casual players hate it when their cards turn against them, which is why all the new tribal lords aren't like Elvish Champion anymore. R&D also continually strives to correctly develop what they think is a cool design, and we had a perfect example of both these pursuits in Caged Sun, Gauntlet of Power's son and Gauntlet of Might's grandson. I hope they'll keep doing this, the aesthete in me greatly appreciates it.
As has been pointed out here elsewhere, Immersturm has about as much to do with Innistrad as Bolas has rulership of Boros or Tezzeret being an Izzet Guilder. Names being similar means absolutely nothing.
Anyways. As far as the card goes, yes, that looks like a lot more fun in casual than it does constructed / limited. Maybe. That is definately a Johnny card though. Johnny Senses Tingling!!
Although the biggest concern I have with Warstorm Surge is getting that 6 CMC beast out into play at all. Genesis Wave, sure. But I'd rather put into a R/B deck to pair it with Vampires who can use this to eat something and get +1 +1's as they resolve. So doing the wave is out, for me. Other than the CMC, yeah, I like that card.
And as far as the Immersturm reference, curioser and curioser...
EDIT @Tranquilo: Just cast a weenie first - like the 0 CMC 1/1 out of Scars block - and tag your opponent's face with it. Then cast your Bloodthirst creature. Easy peasy.
EDIT #2 - Holy moly. Just realized. Warstorm Surge + Splinter Twin? That could be sick even without the Exarch. OUCH. Ok, my trade targets just changed...

Too bad it doesn't trigger Bloodthirst. They could've made 'when you cast a creature spell' instead of then the creature enters the battlefield.
