Flusterstorm only counters instants and sorceries.
So it is usually inferior to Stifle and Mindbreak Trap, and is a Spell Pierce that misses important card types.
And vintage doesn't push up the value of new cards in any significant way.
I agree. From the way the other person made this counterspell sound was noncreature spells... which would have been awesome. But only instant/sorcery? Not so much.
I got interest in Mirror Mastery but mostly for the Commanders/Sol Ring/Garruk/lightning Greaves. May have to buy 4. Everything else is fodder.

To the people that say that a card needs to be a higher rarity because of Limited... I hate you guys so much. I present to you with this.
Exactly. It also helped me catch cards with bad spellings. I used "lowest cost" option, so if they had a heavily played sol ring for sale for $10 that's the value it used. I didn't read the output except to sum the out-of-stock cards to add on to the total.
Sol ring throws the whole value of these decks off. Its massively reprinted now and is restricted in every format its allowed in. Expect it to drop up to 75%.
The sparkmage shrieked, calling on the rage of the storms of his youth.
To his surprise, the sky responded with a fierce energy he'd never thought to see again.
how greedy can u edh ppl get ? "reprint a legacy staple or two"?? "disappointed?" u guys have any idea how much competitive legacy players spent on purchasing those while u ppl can just sit on ur arses and wait and hope for a cheap reprint? it is totally disgusting. I am already shocked at how much value these stupid boxes contain, and if they keep doing this, i will have to sell all my cards. it is part of the reason why i quit yugioh 8 years ago - this just reprinted freakin' EVERYTHING . excuse me, i am not damn rich and i don't like spending 20$ on a card and seee it becoming $3 and even noobs can get in a precon. that's just damn stupid.
Uhh, there are no 20 dollar cards in these.
Sry2say.
Sol ring doubled in value ONLY because of Commander. (During Shards block, it hovered around 10 dollars)
It was only going to go up more if they didn't include it here.
Since it isn't played in ANY sanctioned format, its a win-win to reprint it here.
It still has just as much play value, and if you were expecting Sol Rings to be an 'investment', well, that speaks on your poor judgement. Nobody liked to pay 20 for them, but that doesn't mean they SHOULD be 20.
Edit:
So you are basically overreacting over something that isn't going to happen?

Yeah the overall decklist of Mirror Mastery kind of pales in comparison to the others but the Commanders themselves more or less make up for it, imo. Riku is just sick.
I am kinda surprised they didn't include the Ravnica Dual Lands. They aren't gamebreaking, every EDH deck wants them, they could have put 3 in each deck, and it would help them push product and the new "eternal" format, whatever ends up happening with that. If you bought all 5 of these and ended up with 3 of each of the Rav Duals, these would sell like hotcakes (not that they won't), not effect EDH to the point of insanity, and give everyone who bought the set of them the ability to jump straight into a format like modern without 10 million "The manabase still costs too much" chants.
That was just an example, yes, there isnt any $20 card. YET. BUT, Remember the Power creep started with azorious herald, trygon predator, then it turned into baneslayer and titans.
And my man, u r wrong. Magic IS NOT an investment. It’s just a game. I don’t make much money, and for me to shell out so much to play Legacy, it really would piss me off if they reprint those cards so others can get those for like ¼ of the price I paid for. How would u feel ? I have to work for my money, it’s not like I can just throw my money away. I don’t invest in Magic, I don’t use the game to make money – I just play. That’s all I do.

Remember the Power creep started with azorious herald, trygon predator
It started much, much earlier. About when Wood Elemental got outplayed by, say, Krakilin.
Considering that I'm buying all the decks, I'm pretty happy with the lists. If I were to choose my favorite, I'd probably go with UBG one. But honestly, all of them look so fun, it's hard to choose. Now I need to find two more friends to play some EDH with.

If you just play, then you shouldn't care about the monetary worth of your cards. You should look up the concept of a sunk cost. Basically it says there's no use crying over spilt milk. If you want to retain your invested value in Magic cards, buy stuff that's on the reserve list, otherwise, you're going to have to accept what comes. If you stopped playing Yu-gi-oh because the cards were all reprinted, then you weren't a player, you were an investor. Same thing here. Methinks thou doest protest too much.

You make it sound like the rest of us don't have jobs, careers, house payments, wives, kids, dogs, other hobbies, cars...
There are PLENTY of games in this world, and majority are NOT collectible. The nature of collectible games means there will be value to stupid pieces of cardboard. No matter WHAT format you play, you get burned. Baneslayer dropped 50% jsut because it was reprinted. Jace was $30 at prerelease. Some people blew $40 on Karn... Tis the nature of the beast.
I agree that it sucks to have to spend money to enjoy this game, but EDH by nature was created for people to enjoy the dollar rares and NOT have to fork over money for expensive staples if they didn't want.
We're really on your side, but this game has been around long enough that we should all know how it works. Change formats, change games, change spending habits. It worked for the rest of us who DIDN'T fork over $70 for a dual land.
That was just an example, yes, there isnt any $20 card. YET. BUT, Remember the Power creep started with azorious herald, trygon predator, then it turned into baneslayer and titans.

so let me get this straight--you play for fun. You like to play. But you're angry because others who get to play will have to pay less than you for the same enjoyment.
You don't see it as an investment, but you're angry that card prices drop. Why? Does it make the fact you have a rishadan port any less true? You have one, so do others. The playing field is fairer now.
I hope lots of cards get reprinted from old sets for use in EDH. I hope vintage cards get reprinted so people can afford to play that as well (yes, yes, I know that won't happen). I hope that one day people will be able to have the cards that they want and not have to save their pennies day in and day out like you and I did. I want them to have as much fun as possible in a game that I enjoy as well. I feel like getting mad that someone payed less than me for a card I ALREADY HAVE FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES is asinine and vindictive.
I would feel differently if it was an investment for me. But it's not--I play to have fun.
They are fun sure but really if those cards impress you..Then you must be new to magic..There are WAY better cards that they could have printed..Wasteland and Maze to mention a few.
And do say its just because I want to get them for cheap as I already own 4 of each
If you want your expensive cards to be reprinted and lose money. You sir need to go and play YuGiOh!!!!! By stating this you are clearly are ignorant, you state your greed for more cards but lack the intelligence to comprehend what reprints would do to the current values of cards.
Traumerei's feelings reflects a person that's already been through many of these reprints due to YuGiOh reprinting their staples over and over again. Picture your Grim Tutor printed again and being $20 when you paid $200. However, Wizards is actually good about this and won't do this ever again. Like I said before this product is for EDH and the casual market not Legacy and they clearly stated this is not a Legacy starter kit. If you remember back to Legends and Chronicles where they reprinted the all the expensive cards like the Elder Dragons that PISSED a lot of players off because they lost a lot of value. Because of that we have the "Reserve List." I'm sure history could repeat itself and we can get a few Legacy staples and have the "Reverse List 2." Fair trade?
On a side note, Traumerei, I'm sorry but you are wrong. Magic is an investment, it's like the stock market, buy low and sell high. Many people make their living off of this game.
I just wanted to say I am more excited for this than any other product they have put out. Pickin up the vorosh deck and then Inet if i manage to nab a job this summer. Riku may be my favorite creature ever but the decklist with Damia seems like it will make some crazy cool plays. Amped to see the 5th one but whatever. I just wanna play now.

I disagree with you in the way you said that if I want my cards to retain value, I am not a player, but an investor <-- that is inaccurate to say the least. I don’t know if you are familiar with the idea of being a student and only make a couple hundred bucks a week only to spend most of it on MTG, but for me, I don’t need my cards to go up, but I just want them to have a certain salvage value that is not like “nothing”. In the end, I don’t expect to make money from selling old cards, just getting some costs back and some of that hard earned cash. Sunk cost is an idea I dislike the most, although I understand it's true. But I believe sunk cost would only mean something when let's say, MTG is dead. Then I can't blame anything, I can just say, oh, the game is dead, my money is gone, THAT's sunk cost.
Reprints hurts, in that it disrespects me for saving up pretty much every cent I have to buy that card I want—imagine what I’d feel when that 10 year old commander player open up Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed in FtV Legends a couple months from now? That’s basically puking in my face. Hey, I am not rich, I love that card so I paid $130 for it, and now even a 10-year old can get one? That’s really nasty if you ask me .
Well, I guess I can also say I'm stupid for buying that card since it was like, $5 a year ago . I guess I just came back to MTG at the wrong time =/ .
P.S. I am picking up Heavenly Inferno for kicks of just trying out EDH. The idea of playing the general that puts angels demons dragons into play is pretty sick.

Loving it. Was planning on getting the Mirror Mastery one, and I still am. I like the decklist, the only issue I have is with Conundrum Sphinx, but seeing as that's my only complaint I'm pretty happy.
I might be mistaken, but don't stores have to sell all the decks at an equal price at the launch party? I'm assuming that if you pay the entry fee, you choose one of the 5 to play with, right?
That’s basically puking in my face. Hey, I am not rich, I love that card so I paid $130 for it, and now even a 10-year old can get one? That’s really nasty if you ask me .
Not picking on you...this was just the most recent comment in this vein, but why? I've seen a lot of this sense of entitlement from some of the posters in these Commander threads...that "now any kid can just play with Sol Ring", etc etc. So basically, only the people who feel like spending more money on a rare card (that's really only expensive because of casual demand) should feel special and be allowed to have the better cards in a casual format?
As a side note, I never got into EDH and probably never will, but I will say that if people think that the format (versus 60-card casual) won't simply degenerate into everyone using the same cards to build the best decks possible, they are fooling themselves.
Uhh, there are no 20 dollar cards in these.

You have no idea how much "value" I've lost on Magic cards. If I paid attention to it, it would make me sick.
We've all been starving students dude. I started playing in 1994, fresh out of college. Yes, I'm old. I had a playset of Revised/Unlimited duals. I sold it in 1999 or 2000 for $250. It makes me angry and sad when I think about it. I had Moxen, Ancestral Recall, Force of Wills, etc. I sold them all for well below what they're worth these days. And I overpay for pre-release cards to this day. But I love playing, and I accept that the paper worth of these cards will fluctuate just like any equity. I hope they have some value if and when I ever sell them. But right now, I enjoy playing, and that's enough.

Herein lies the reason Wizards is scared of reprinting cards. I mean, sure, there are certain cards that are just ridiculous and are overpowered that will never be printed again (moxes, lotus) but to say that other people shouldn't get a chance to enjoy certain cards just because you want to protect your wallet is ridiculous. Magic is NOT an investment - it's a card game. When people make money off of it, it's because they win tournaments, or they are a card store selling off tons of packs. Going back to Xiahou Dun, what you're essentially saying is that you have to be THIS RICH to play him as a general.
You have no idea how much "value" I've lost on Magic cards. If I paid attention to it, it would make me sick.

Yeah, and some of the ones I've held on to suddenly jump in price and I'm all like--what?
example: goblin welders, sneak attacks, daze
it's cardboard. people like playing with it. i like playing with it. occasionally it works the other way to--about two years ago I bought a collection for $100 and it had one of each of the dual lands in it.
be happy with cards you have and if you pay a lot for one, roll with it.

What? Never head of Vintage?
Thanks to Aeternal Studios For the sig!
