Wow counterpunch really really sucks... I mean Deadly Recluse, I would never put that crap in an EDH deck ever. Same with Aquastrand Spider, Penumbra Spider (what's with the crappy spiders and lack of Silklash?), Hex (usually not that great... ) Death Mutation, Spawnwrite. There's really nothing to be excited about playing in here.
Also, I love that my 3 of my 4 favorite new generals (Edric, Animar, and Riku) are in the same precon. It certainly makes my decision easy. PLUS, it has the new hinder (though without the new storm counterspell...
Only reason im thinking garruk will be a new one in m12 is the fact that if their trying to sell a core set, making one of the mythics easily accesible to the public in a pre constructed deck, it wouldnt be good business. Therefore, my hunch is new garruk.
Plus, garruk's horde doesnt...synergise well with the new garruk other than being a beast.
I was originally planning on getting Mirror Mastery to replace Intet in my copyeverything.dec (which is only online btw; I haven't had enough money to really invest in EDH, which was what I was planning to use this precon for), but the deck really disappoints me. There's a lot of chaff and just flat-out bad cards (pump spells in EDH that do nothing but pump? really?), and there are literally 0 copy effects in the deck aside from Riku himself. Wild Richochet is in RWU, which really hurts to see. :< Both of the generals are my favourite of all the ones revealed, too (maybe Ghave will be totally boss?), but I can't buy Mastery when I don't have enough cards to actually fill out a proper deck.
I'm likely going to switch to Devour for Power. Simulacrum and O-Stone are awesome cards and will be fine filler in my EDH decks that are hurting for playables once I actually have money to invest in the format, and the deck itself actually has some pretty neat/decent cards in it, with very few truly "bad" cards. A few swaps with some of the cards I already own (Consecrated Sphinx, Phyrexian Ingester, Liliana Vess etc.) and it should be about on level with the decks I've made online. And The Plasm and Daria are probably my next favourite generals after the rug ones, as well. I also REALLY like the two Join Forces cards in the deck; the blue one is very powerful and interesting, and the black one works SO well with the theme of the deck and is incredibly cool. Sucks that D-Season isn't in any of these (I was really hoping Mirror Mastery would have it), but I understand why they didn't reprint it.
Devour for Power and Heavenly Inferno are definitely my top picks. Very strong stuff in those two.
Initially I thought Reiver Demon and the new demon are massively awesome with Kaalia, but then realized you gotta cast them from hand to get the effect. Oh well.
They are fun sure but really if those cards impress you..Then you must be new to magic..There are WAY better cards that they could have printed..Wasteland and Maze to mention a few.
And do say its just because I want to get them for cheap as I already own 4 of each
Uh huh. Printing legacy staples in a product like this would also defeat the purpose of a product like this, and cause supply+demand issues resulting in massive markups akin to FTV. I'm glad they did Sol Ring and a few other favorites and left it at that.
Flusterstorm seems like literally the most ridiculously random card ever. It's the only card with storm in here, and it's a relatively terrible for EDH.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
Originally I thought I'd be buying the Counter Punch deck and the Heavenly fire deck. Depending on what the other cards that we don't have info for in Counter Punch I may be getting Devour for Power instead. The Counter Punch deck doesn't have as many token generators that I don't have as I was hoping for.
Ive been over them a few times now, checking and double checking and thinking.
Definitely want the reflections one, Heavenly inferno and UBG. But, I doubt I can get more than 2...probably.....the two with blue in them.
People who say these suck are crazy!!!! these are tight. nice way to grab a handful of staples, awesome for starters and anyone else super excited for this product

The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can tough the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginning-less time, darkness thrives in the void but always yields to purifying light.

but when he leaves them speechless with wisdom.
I was expecting to be most interested in Counter Punch and Heavenly Fire, but now that I've seen the lists, they are the most uninteresting of the decks of the five. I'll end up buying or trading for the few singles I actually want from them. To my surprise, the more I look at it, that WUR deck is the most appealing. It smacks and sparks with endless fun plays.
Still very happy about some of the cards being printed, but admit I will probably look to purchase them as singles online.
Unless I was just starting out or wanted to try a new color combo, there's just not enough cards I need in any of these sets to justify a purchase. As a BUG player, I have obtained cards like Living Death, Oblivion Stone, Eternal Witness, and Avatar of Woe recently, and I just don't need another Ring or Greaves :/
Still, very excited about some of the new cards being printed and the stir this release is creating in the Magic community. TBH, my Mayael deck got stronger from this product than my BUG did, despite the awesomeness of Mimeoplasm. One of my decks got 2 new cards, and one got 5. That'll work!
actually flusterstorm IS a legacy staple - as all its stormed counters counter all their stormed tendrils or ETW less they pay 1 more for each to resolve. elegantly designed. I like it - screws up the combo players' all-in-math. nicely done wotc.
Next time you post popular opinions, please word them in such a way that they're not infractable. Someone may be widely thought to be the dullest tool in the shed, but you can't publicly call him that, which as a mod I can neither confirm nor deny that I fervently believe he's a tool.
Surprise surprise, BUG is the most powerful. However I am still most excited to build a deck with Zedruu and tweak my Intet into Riku. Glad I picked up all five.

Wow, it's actually really good for 1 mana, It's better than stifle against storm because you can mess with Orim's chant with it. Having said that, it's still pretty narrow. A fringe board card at best. I would still rather have pierce in the board instead of Flutterstorm.

Edric | Skithiryx | Merieke | Talrand

Well except for pauper EDH
Garruk's Packleader | Inkfathom Witch | Gelectrode | Sigil Captain | Glider Barin | Sludge Strider | Paragon of the Ameshsa
Plus, garruk's horde doesnt...synergise well with the new garruk other than being a beast.
Just my $0.02

WBG, I am disappoint.
Heck isn't that already $30?
Command tower is the chase card for this set and that card alone will sell almost every single one of these decks.
