Emmara is like the worst parts of Legends and Homelands got pregnant, aborted the fetus, tossed it in the trashcan, set it on fire and wrapped the corpse in a Dragon's Maze pack wrapper.
Since the article is up now, let me explain. Through SCG's error (and probably some guesswork), fnord hit upon that image in the SCG fileserver. The proof he sent me was simply a link.
I agree with this statement. I do like the Phyrexian one a lot more than the Mirran one, but I think I'll stick with my "What Color Would You Like Me To Beat You With Today?" and ":symtap: That Ass" shirts.
Solemn just sold me on buying 5 boxes of this set..
Let's hope for cruicible of worlds next?
Yeah, now that this reprinted card is appearing in the set I'm taking out a second mortgage on my house and hiring a U-Haul to deliver 600 boxes of Magic 2012 to my house.
Ack! What art is this on my most treasured card?!?
Sweet art, but I want my original Solemn art back.
Anyways, awesome reprint. This is the type of card that should be in every core set... also, you can really see the Commander influence in M12 shinning through.

Seriously. Original solemn had a face you can put the expression to. This guy is just hanging his head in serious shame because he doesn't have a face to look solemn with.

I actually think it's somewhat insulting, or a rip off, for them to change the Art of cards that were made by the Players of the Year. I mean if they reprinted Bob with new art.. could be even still call him Bob?
Sad to see Jens go, but glad to see the card! Hoping to open a bunch over time in this set, because I wouldn't mind getting my hands on several more copies for EDH.

They have already done this with peoples faces. They get to put forward the design, and reprint the first printing. Only Kai has gotten his face on a second version, and that's because the first art made him look 400lbs.
Understand, Dredge is not really a Magic: The Gathering deck. When a card is playable in it, it doesn't mean it's a tournament playable card. It means it's playable in whatever crazy fantasy world that Dredge operates in.
I do like the new art for the Simulacrum. The original Simulacrum's art was lame. M12 permitting its return gives me a chance to run it and perhaps to see what all the ballyhoo was in the first place (I was not into standard at the time of Mirrodin, and I left before Fifth Dawn).
Off topic, but why does everyong call Dark Confidant "Bob," but not Simulacrum "Jens?" Is it just trying to be cute by showing that one knows the art basis for the card? It always seemed like that to me. I should like to see new Confidant art some day just to see how much the purists whine (and I quite like the Ravnica art).
The sparkmage shrieked, calling on the rage of the storms of his youth.
To his surprise, the sky responded with a fierce energy he'd never thought to see again.
SS sold u 5 boxes? why dont u just buy 5 copies of this card for $4 or so each?!

Yeah, it seen a pretty good bit of play. It's one of those cards that was always good, but never over-powered. Control decks loved it.

As for constructed, this guy is silly. One of my favorite cards of all time.
