Green is looking very tempting in this set, and more appealing to me than even all the red goodies.
most definitely. while blue looks like jace, the mind sculptor got pissed and said if I can't be in then forget about blue. we have what, mana leak and levitation. the fliers just don't appeal this time. then theres the whole illusion thing which I just don't see going well.
"The awesome part about legacy is the fact that we get to play with cool cards from magic's past such as Jace, Stoneforge Mystic and Batterskull"

It's a 6-drop that can stop thoseotheroverpowered6drops in their tracks, the turn it ETB, and keep it at bay until one of it's spider buddies shows up to help with the web.
Plus, its one of the most flavorful cards i've seen in years.

this actually will stop titans if people just think for a second. use the ability during their main phase so they can't swing and activate their ability. End of turn, web destroyed, rinse and repeat. while in any other case it should stop just about anything that moves in it's tracks based on those huge power toughness stats. I think it may actually stand some chance. not to mention gives splinter twin some trouble as well.
Green repeatable removal is amazing. Unfortunately, it's bad in EDH and too slow for Constructed. Maybe it'll be good post-rotation. Too bad that a card that is so fun and flavorful is so useless outside of Limited and the casual table.
Ugh.... seeing this, it really makes me hate M12..... I like Magic because the cards are relatively independent on one another unlike Yu-Gi-Oh, and now we have these sort of junks?!? First the empire set and now this... what's next, Wizards?

Because Spirit of the Night was a hugely popular card back in its day, and has inspired other designs like Dark Supplicant and the Angel's Herald cycle. Not to mention the popularity of the even older Urzatron. And because this particular design doesn't work nearly as well without that connection. It's simple and elegant, and has terrific flavor. I don't see anything wrong with this design.
Might as well be called Bomb-Eating Spider. Almost nothing is able to swing past it, and just using its own ability and a single copy of another card (a card which is already pretty decent on its own) it locks down pretty much any threat out there (worse case scenario, it just has to refetch and toss the web again every turn).
And when your opponent doesn't have a Titan out, you have a choice of either making a really productive attack or leaving him untapped to lock down any smaller threat that shows up.
Even without other spiders backing it up, I'd say it has a good chance at making it in Constructed. If good lower-cost spiders pop up in Innistrad, even better.

Well, now that you pointed that out, it does seem fair. Still, it's the rarity of this sort of case which is rather jarring to me, hence my rant. Not to mention I totally forgot about the heralds from Alara, which is among the most recent cases.
if this can bring out multiple versions of those webs then it may be a threat plus the spell can't be countered since it is an ability. i think this bad boy is going to see some play

Some of you may think that you have made great mistakes in your lives, and perhaps you have. But let me ask you this.... did you ever play strip poker with two fat chicks and win?

The only problem would be Frost Titan when he ETB if u have an Arachuns Spinner out. Hopefully u have another spider out to deal with that.
Huh? The Frost Titan's ETB ability goes onto the stack and you just respond to it by tapping your Spinner and searching up the Web.
I'm not sure what good that really does though, as the Titan will just trounce through the Web. I suppose you can just do it again if you have another Spider on their upkeep or something.
I know my brother will likely play this for fun, he's always loved pacifism type effects and whats better than a creature that fetches them.
However aside from the fun or narrow use of the creature I doubt it'll see a ton of constructed. However the flavor of the creature is truly top notch IMO.

isnt that how most fun flavorful cards work anyway?

But I do love the flavor of shooting webs to lock down creatures, and other spiders beind able to help.
