The sparkmage shrieked, calling on the rage of the storms of his youth.
To his surprise, the sky responded with a fierce energy he'd never thought to see again.
I disagree: hard and playable counters would be awesome right now. That said, good news. Some sort of reliable counter is always a good idea.

But with counter magic you "usually" don't get any way of protecting your spells without your own CM, or 3 mana open in this case. I find that quite boring. Hard counters are the worst though.
Also burn and lands are easier to deal with imo.
Maybe I won't mind my spells being countered to the gy in Innistrad
If anyone complains about red losing ground in this set they are dead wrong. just because Lightning Bolt isn't seeing a reprint doesn't mean that you are behind.... You get GOBLIN GRENADE and GRIM LAVAMANCER!

Lets face it this is far from the worst or best thing that could have happened. facing 4 mana leaks in any blue deck won't win them the game and at least its not Counterspell or Spell Pierce frankly I'm gonna be really glad that Spell Pierce is gone
so they take away my bolts, but blue gets to keep their manaleaks.
Why does it always feel like red is getting screwed?
Bolt was around for 2 years and now Mana Leak has its second year. Don't complain that all you've got so far is Grim Lavamancer, Goblin Grenade, and Chandra's Phoenix; you'll get something else cool soon.

I love how much people are complaining about red getting shafted when its getting some great reprints. If anything is really getting shafted this set its white and black. The look like good colors in limited but I havent seen anything that makes me wanna build a deck or improve my current decks
Today there is a exclusive new card review from a Chinese website:

Clearly, Mana Leak will be reprinted in M12

Doomblade is in 3, so there really is absolutely no precedent set right now.

Have you seen the M12 spoiler??? Red's getting pimped out, son!

Because red mages are filled with so much fire!
Really though red has a big boost in this M set with Grim Lavamancer and Incinerate being reprinted.
Manaleak is one of the most balanced counters for blue.
Since when is Valakut "easy" to deal with?
none
