That's exactly what I was thinking. Guess Thelon will continue to lead my fungus army.
With that said, I think he'd be a fun general on his own to build around, he's just a bit harder to slide into a deck that's already made. As people were saying on facebook, Doubling Season and Ashnod's Altar seem fun with him.
The lack of SPORE counters is the only flaw in my book. And what makes him a white card? He's just GB. Seriously, as cool as these new guys are, they could use some dang color identity.

I am confused how token creation is not seen as white when we have so many white token making cards.
So white = Tokens, Black = Sac Effect, Green = +1/+1 Counters...seems right to me.
Sure green has a ton of token effects as well, black has some too, so it is kinda a strange wedge theme. All in all I like it. He will fit right in with Rhys, and Doubling Season for silly token goodness
Ok not to turn this into a shoulda printed this thread. But it seems like this deck would have been perfect for a doubling season to be printed in. It's value was only in the casual market because of decks like this. However, he seems underwhelming by himself. I doubt anyone thinks his OP or better than the other WBG generals.
I once farted during the final match for prizes at an FNM. It was a tense moment, everything was quiet, control vs control, I was about to mana leak, thought about it.. and farted. Then mana leaked.
I'd use this dude as a general over Thelon simply because it would let me use awesome cards like Vindicate and Aura Shards
Those choices are also possible with Teneb and Karador; In a fungus deck, Karador is arguably better as he brings your shrooms back, while Ghave combos with a grand total of 1 fungus (feel free to add more fungi if I'm missing any) : Mycoloth

No, he turns them into Simic Initiate. Also: 'Counterpunch'? What does that have to do with this deck?
Like the fact that your Commander does a ton of things with Counters (+1/+1 and token creatures). There are a ton of Graft and other +1/+1 counters to deal with in that deck.

i like the idea of him becoming big as you can just sac saprolings that he can make or creatures you'd have. then if you want remove whatever counters from him to make saprolongs. definitely seeings this in a Saproling Tribal deck. haha
Wit's End is the PERFECT answer to your opponent's Monomania however.
Just hold on to your Wit's End when they Monomania, so you can Wit's End them on your next turn!!!
I think this is fairly reminiscent of the "Jace Battles" we have seen in past standards.. My guess is we will soon witness the great Monomania-Wit's End battles.
I thought that there would be a large section of the deck that I would be sad to see leave, but a lot of it will be replaced by things I would rather have anyways (for example, Goblin Bombardment vs. Grave Pact). I will be sad to see Dragon Broodmother go, though. Enough of that, this card just makes me happy.

Yeah that makes me want to question why people are so dissapointed.
Doubling Season + Ghave + Ashnod's Alter = Infinite +1/+1 counters, infinite tokens, infinite colorless mana.
No, he turns them into Simic Initiate. Not that great, although I'm sure he can be worked into some sort of infinite combo.

Plus it still would mean you could still run Thelon in there. After all, Black and Green do indeed have many ways to tutor him up.
He turns all your creatures into "Pentavites" you can sacrifice, and you can put the counters on any creature, not just himself.
Plus, it's like having access to Pentavus as a general, which is awesome.
(I'm gonna be singing that everytime this guy hits the table...)

White being the second most important Fungus color, if for no other reason than the anthem effects.
1) Every fungus and/or Saproling producer fits into those 3 colors.
2) It allows for more options in deck construction.

Just need a doubling season to run him and he's good to go. Too bad those don't come cheap.
The card I wanted most in Thelon was glare of subdual
Not sure if ghave is better than thelon, but he's worth a shot.
The only other cards afaik are Fungal Bloom/Pallid Mycoderm/Savage Thallid/Sporesower Thallid/Thelon of Havenwood, as well as other tribal cards like Coat of Arms and stuff like that
Currently Playing:
Brewing for Rotation
And some EDH
Karador seems like a muuuuuch better general for that. Same fantastic colour access but with some very nice graveyard interaction.
First and foremost, access to white and black really helps the reliability of Doubling Season, the whole reason I love playing the deck in the first place (and yes, I'm sad it's not reprinted here). With white you get enchantment tutors (Enlightened Tutor, Idyllic Tutor, Academy Rector) and black you have generic tutors (Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Diabolic Tutor, etc.) plus Transmute in Brainspoil.
