This is a fun card, but it's certainly not a good card. If I play it, I'm giving my opponents the same number of lands as I am while I am down a spell and the last to use those lands. If my opponents know that my deck will provide me with a major advantage if I get a ton of lands, then my opponents won't put any mana into this.

This card isn't as good as everyOne thinks it is. You guys are looking at this card in a vacuum. Remember that the more players that sink their mana into this, the more players with extra lands and kill spells that USE SUCH LANDS BEFORE YOU DO! Don't get me wrong, I know it's a good card, but it's not "that" good to be called "broken". If Anything It's a pretty risky card that could potentially bury you before you even get the chance to untap again. Good card nonetheless. But certainly not broken.

Correct. 9.9 times out of 10, this is going to get played by a Timmy grinning from ear to ear. I'll probably just scoop at that point, because the game just got a lot less interesting. On the other 1%, the person playing it will have a way to take advantage of the mana before everyone else, and they'll probably crush. It's the same situation as New Horizons or Prosperity, cards I already find far too annoying.
Read the card. Each player gets X lands regardless of his contribution to the pool. What this does hose is heavily nonbasic based decks, which will cap out at basics to fetch.

I hate this card. I think it would have been better if it required X * 2 rather than just X.
It accelerates every player who isn't tapped out a ludicrous amount, creating a very stupid game state.
The white one is very scaled back in comparison, if you miss out on, say, 5 1/1 tokens is not that big a deal. Missing out on 5 lands that 3 other people got to put in play makes you want to stop playing that game. I think I can count the number of 5 mana spells I'd play over searching for 5 lands on one hand.
Last time something like this happened in a multiplayer game I played, it was doubling the mana swamps produced. 3 players who had black took complete control of the game and 3 players were completely helpless to stop them.
You can't "miss" on these cards... Even if you don't pay anything you'll also get the effect. Read thoroughly, it says Each plAyer, not each player who paid...
The funny thing about Collective Voyage is that the search is mandatory. If you have basics you will have to put those on the field. New Frontiers has a "may" clause and therefore doesn't force you to put your basics on the field. Keeping that in mind... you can do some pretty disgusting things with this and tunnel ignus, Zo-Zu the Punisher... however the effectiveness of this strategy depends on the number of basics your opponents are running...
Isn't it so that if you need to search for something specific (land, creature, purple mind-bender) from library, you can always say that "couldn't find any"?
With Demonic Tutor and such, you need to take some card out of library if it still has cards in it.
all the more reason for me to be running more geddon effects. sure will be fun when people pull out all their lands and then i lol and cast obliterate or armageddon or something
So...say I place this card and I want to play a response to it (maybe flash in Shattered angel via Vedalken Orrery), can I do this after they pay the mana but before they start searching for land?

I mean no one else will pay, but as you are GW you should be able to pay like 5 for it.

I smell a "play more than 1 land and I'll punish you" kind of deck... looks like fun (and the antithesis of the landfall mechanic)
Even better name, "G'head Punk, play those lands"...
You can find me on MTGO. My username is gereffi.

I like it how these guys posted the same idea almost at the same time...
now I have to think how I can benefit from this Rare Green Card... hmmm...

Prismatic Omen and this? Valakut is gonna be happy
Reading is tech, I didn't read it well enough. I thought that if your opponent didn't have mana he'd get no lands.
why? if he's tapped out and you dump any mana into it, he'll still get to search too.
