Is that Planeswalker holding an Ammonite? This is so brilliant if so. Maybe it can summon Fossil Tokens
That deck looks like a blast to play. Kozilek and Yavimaya's embrace raised my eyebrows. Some sort of Polymorph ability on a G/U 'walker would be sweet.
new PW is cool, but do these decks hint at M12 cards? Would be interesting to see Compulsive Research back in standard. Also the ravnica cards makes one wonder if that's a hint towards the future?
Um even if she is a "merfolk" her abiltys based on what her deck is made up sees to focus more on krakens, serpents and big beasts of the depth. Rather than "merfolks"

I love this concept for a planeswalker character, especially if she does turn out to be GU and not just mono-:symu:. Nissa Revane's DotP deck is BG despite her card being :symg:, after all.
She doesn't look like what I'd have expected out of Innistrad, but we haven't seen enough of that setting yet so maybe she is a fit. Though obviously she can be (and likely is) a non-native planeswalker. If that's the case, I'd be curious how she's involved in this setting, regardless.
Am I the only one that does NOT want an enemy Colored set? On the one hand it's been long enough since they've done that (excluding the shards in a way) but that isn't really a problem for me. Enemy colored duals just break up part of the color pie and theme of Magic, while it's nice having more abilities to pair different colors and abilities, it isn't something that should happen very often. Since I, and others, a Ravnica return is coming soon, I'd rather put off enemy duals/PW's until then.
Ravnica is not confirmed.
I play edh.
WE NEED MORE DANG COLOR FIXING.
I hate it when an opponent playing LD can keep me off of a color due to barely having like 6 playable lands that tap for enemy colors.
So yeah. No. Also, they don't break apart the theme in the slightest, thats just silly.
Enemy color pairs (especially my favorite UG) can create unique and beautiful results. For example "planned evolution" ala vig.
And why does everyone think she's a walker? She may be, granted, but look at rhys, and niv mizzet from last game! Theres no guarantee!
As for the deck, I really dig it. I'd love saccing a coiling oracle for a kozilek off of polymorph!
WoTC has said many times that the return to Mirrodin was a 'test run' for the future.
Any future revisits to old planes would come MAYBE the year after the block AFTER Innistrad.
The color of this planeswalker's deck doesn't mean much to the actual card, or future sets.
Nissa having a B/G elves deck (with mostly LOR block cards mind you) meant nothing in regards to her appearance in Zendikar.
All we can glean is that this planeswalker might be more tribal than not, much like Nissa.
The one thing I think we should keep in mind is that there are M12 cards in these decks. Of course we can't really distinguish between what is just a card in the deck, and what is a M12 card in the deck...
Kind of interesting that there are 0 new M12 cards in her deck though.

Really cool. Merfolk's my favorite tribe, and they need more non-human walkers. Hopefully she becomes a card.
And anyone else think it's odd to throw Kozilek in there? I mean I know he's the merfolk's god and all, but they have a who bunch of big leviathans/krakens to choose from to fill the spot. Stormtide Leviathan would've been cooler imo. Still a good deck flavorwise.
Nissa the character does have the capacity to use black mana, but it's correct that the colors of her deck in Duels didn't line up with her card in Zendikar. Likewise, Jace has in the past dabbled in both black and white mana despite remaining a blue mage in every card incarnation.
We don't know if Kiora is the same situation or not. She could be a GU 'walker, or simply blue with green added to her deck to make it play better and/or because her character has some small connection to the color green.
Tweet from @dailymtg confirms Kiora Atua is a planeswalker.

With a deck full of Leviathans I doubt she's Merfolk tribal, but if she is, I'm not worried. Tribal Merfolk cards are never bad.
That art is solid gold. While there will no doubt be the usual contingent of repressed individuals paying close attention to the tentacle, the piece as a whole is brilliantly done. Much better than the recent 'just stand there' planeswalkers, like Jace V.2, Koth and Karn.
I think you're right on the money here. She probably isn't too focused, if at all, on tribal merfolk-centric abilities with all those non-merfolk cards in her deck.
And what is up with PWs just standing there in their pictures? The PW cards you mention, Jace 2.0, Koth, and Karn just standing there? It gets old fast. PWs should be seen in action. Chandra Ablaze's art was fun. Maybe it's just Jason Chan's artwork that I'm not enjoying anymore.
Besides @dailymtg confirming she is a PW, didn't it become a theory that Niv-Mizzet is a PW, anyway? So, wouldn't that make Rhys the only non-PW in the games?

The Niv-Mizzet theory has been shot down by members of the Creative team.
The reason N-M and Rhys were included as opponents was because they wanted those decks in the game but didn't have any suitable Planeswalker characters to pair with them. Rhys was chosen just because his card was :symgw:, since he doesn't have any connection to lands or landfall, which is the focus of his deck in Duels.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if she turned out to be a rogue sixth walker in M12, which would only make sense if she was UG because the balance would be completely off otherwise. That'd make me pretty happy.
Quest for Ula's Temple is going to be an unlock. (not confirmed but WotC is predictable like that) Honestly, It seems WotC is forcing this card in DotP. It's bad.
The flavour of her deck suggests to me that she has affinity for large sea creatures (serpents, krakens etc.), so we might see more of these "huge scary sea monsters" to play up to the "Horror lurks within" aspect of Innistrad, which could mean Kraken/Leviathan tribal (or at least have them be the main tribe of blue a la elves in scars), which would be supremely cool.
I think she's likely to be mono-blue (her description and art doesn't suggest anything very green, aside from her fondness of large creatures, I suppose).
It would be cool right in time for Quest for Ula's Temple to rotate out. Ah well if Horror Lurks within means Serpents and stuff maybe we'll get some Pirates or something.
And someone said they'd hate for another enemy color set. I love them. Allied colored cards are so mundane and pedestrian. Cool stuff like Maelstrom Pulse. Tidehollow Sculler etc etc are neat and I like the aesthetics.
can we not have some card tags on the list? not essential, but would be nice.
the only bit of info I'm taking away from this is "new planeswalker", but the fact that there might be blue planeswalker in innistrad isn't MASSIVELY exciting.
I like this planeswalker. Merfolk have always been my favorite magic tribe. The deck seems to be on par with the last expansion in terms of "power level"

I just want people who redraft to admit this:
"I can't draft objectively unless I am able to guarantee that I receive at least 3 rares. I am also better than most average/new players so I want to make sure that I get the best rares and they end up with worse ones. I care more about the monetary value of cards than actually playing the game for decent prizes."
It's a bloody outrage that Kozilek is in this deck! They had the perfect opportunity to have Ulamog fighting beside the very same sea creatures that worshiped him when he was trapped in Ula's Temple.
Flavor Fail of the upmost degree. WotC I am dissapoint.
That picture really is quite bad. She's contorting herself to be able to shove her tits and her ass in the face of the viewer at the same time.
I really don't see much contortion being done, unless turning left counts. I am not a fan of over-the-top women in fantasy art, and I don't feel that the artist was trying to create an over-sexual image.

While true, Nissa was confirmed to be learning to utilize black magic, so at least in the long run, it will have some importance for the character.
