I wonder if WOTC employees will have to learn the phyrexian language.
Yes, they have to. And so will we. Within four blocks all of the multiverse will be Phyrexian so speaking and reading it will be integrated into the rules...

It's also for the purpose of pure flavor.
I'm betting Praetor will only be used on the 5 Praetors then never again becuse there are, well, only 5 Phyrexian Praetors.
if phyrexians become as essential to the over arching stories as they used to be, i can easily imagine the schemes of the praetors against each other(which is already happening) succeeding and one or more of them dying and being replaced in future sets with new praetors. as a vorthos, i'd enjoy it.
It's like having a nuclear power plant. At some point in time it is going to blow. It is in the nature of the beast. We have seen it before, and it will happen again. We all know they are sitting there waiting, for just the right opportunity. I'd rather blow them up now, saving us the trouble of doing it later.
It isn't like having a nuclear power plant because nuclear power plants are specifically designed to NOT blow up. At least not in the conventional city-destroying fashion.
But that's neither here nor there, the analogy just irked me, and I have the incessant urge to make things right on the internet.
As far as Elesh's viability in standard, I know I'm for sure going to at least TRY making a GWB deck running her and Massacre Wurm. Not likely to work well, but she should be fun.
Why does it seem everybody is assuming the entire Praetor cycle is going to be 7cmc and therefore dubbing the 6cmc Titans better? I mean, it's probably a safe assumption, but it's not as if they've never changed CMC's across a cycle
I really do not see how the titans are still going to be better with this thing running around the way i see it this thing eats titans for breakfast, that -2/-2 makes the titans down to a manageable 4/4 which this thing can kill no problem while making your own titans 8/8's.

Because you gain card advantage with Titans, and one well placed Doom Blade or Go For The Throat takes care of the temporary inconvieniance of losing your tokens.
She's good, but just not right now. She would have been AWESOME in CHK/RAV Standard though...
We'll just have to see what the other praetors are like to compare them and actually see how powerful they are as titans.
Part of me wants it to be like the titans where they are all the same CMC and such.
But it seems like that wont be the case, which will make this one obsolete to the green one, and the red one who are probably a great green ramp creature, and an aggressively costed aggro creature.

Giant Growth: Yeah, Richard! You make those "3-of-something-for-1-mana" cards!
Healing Salve: Go, Richard! Keep that cycle going!
Lightning Bolt: Wow, dude, that's really powerful. Make sure to keep this common-appropriate!
Dark Ritual: What are you doing? That's obviously better than the other three!
Ancestral Recall: Seriously? You want us to make this a common? Really?
Magic is getting worse and worse. There have been a lot of defense breakers in the Past, Overrun etc. But this is getting really ridiculous. Killing opponents creatures and Pumping your own is sick ok bah only a 4/7 body, sad it doesnt cost 4W.

At 4W this card would be one of the most broken creatures of all time.

Whatever happened to "Old" Phyrexia? I had taken a break from Magic at that time, so I wasn't around for the defeat of Yawgmoth. The wiki states that Urza and crew wrecked it, but likely didn't destroy it. Is anyone who has read the novels willing to enlighten me? I'm curious why WOTC needed to create a New Phyrexia (not that I mind, the story is cool so far. I'm just curious.).
It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.
DarkWolff: It's like this. When Yawgmoth first saw Phyrexia (shown by planeswalker Dyfed, if I remember correctly), she asked him: "Would you like to purchase the extended warranty on this plane?"
And Yawgmoth said "No".
This was the underlying cause of his further problems.

Thanks for the reply. So it is assumed to have collapsed?
Nope. Anvil's are only for war waging sword carrying flyers. Or Preators. DCI just errata'd it so "Titan" can never have a cost reduction. EVER. Oh well, stuck on a T3 Titan again...

The Legacy Weapon destroyed Phyrexia, Yawgmoth and Phyrexia, at the cost of a lot of damage to Dominaria and the Coalition forces as well.
Also note that artifical planes are unsustainable because a plane needs a balance of mana, and no being has that balance. Serra's Realm was doomed because it was nothing but white mana, to the point that the presence of a black creature caused it to start falling apart. It was only sustained because of Serra's pumping her energy into it. That's why Phyrexia invaded. Yawgmoth, as pure black mana, was sustaining the undead world himself. I'd even say that this is why Phyrexia is now in all five colors: an adaptation, attempting to make a New Phyrexia that doesn't require a god to function.
No it doesn't, because it also reduces the cost of the Titans.
The cup is half full! When was the last time Anvil was used with Titans? LOL, it's a comparison of two different decks not a deck running a Titan and a Praetor. 7CC requires more than 26 lands (ie 6cc Titan vs. 7cc Praetor)... it requres major ramp (ie valakut ramp) or something like the Anvil.
Throwing a DoJ under the Anvil also lets Conqueror's Pledge make SIX 3/3s for WWW with a Praetor in play... just saying. Geez does anyone innovate anymore?

But didn't Phyrexia exist for a while on it's own? If it was created by an ancient planeswalker, it had to have been functionining somehow (or did Yawgmoth screw that all up?).
I assume that Mirrodin, as an artificial plane, wouldn't have suffered the same fate since it incorporates all colors of mana "naturally."

I don't see how the text I originally quoted is comparing any decks, just stating something incorrectly. If your post was related to deck construction, which it wasn't, that would be different. If I missed something in your one sentence post that spoke about deck design, then I apologize. The fact that the decks you are familiar with don't use Anvil with Titans is a nonsequitor to the fact that card does, in fact, reduce the Titans cost.

I wasn't aware the Legacy Weapon completely obliterated the plane. Even the article you linked isn't clear on it's final fate (hence my question).
