The cropping is absolutely terrible. Nothing like making the artwork look really flat by cropping the top of his head off. It's hard to get any kind of scale in artwork like that. Ugh.

Yeah, it's the worst offense of the card imo. The art itself, while perhaps boring, is proficient. I'm not particularly wild about the normal art, either.
They've actually been pretty good about not making the art look badly photoshopped, even though it gets through from time to time. This is it... in full force.
Combine that with a really weird and unflattering costume on the guy, and you have a recipe for awful.
Really? U order online or something? Typically the game store has them when the boxes come.
No, but the store I get them at sells other things as well, like sport cards and is also a coin and metals store. I will have to ask about the promos though.
The artwork looks photoshopped? Thats because most digital artwork is painted in photoshop. It looks fine. There are just a few minor things that could have been done better. The cropping is a little distracting from the central focus with the frontal figure escaping the picture plane between quadrants one and two. You get no sense of scale and it creates an awkward movement that starts at his crotch and travels up and off the plane over his forehead. The figure should have been shifted down a tad.
This is, of course, assuming that the problem at hand was the artist's fault. Karl Kopinski is a very established concept artist. I would not be surprised if he had submitted a painting file that Wizards cropped and refitted. I don't think that the artist would make this kind of mistake, even if the artwork is a little on the boring side.
lol like they actually think its good art...
or maybe trying to convince us?
But seriously, don't buy a box promos usually
come with the 5 mana symbols as the water
mark. Maybe its an exception because of the
whole mirran v. phrexian, but Memoricide
buy-a-box versioncame with 5 mana watermark
so who knows.
I love how some of you people think you can deduce a rarity by the name only. Hilarious!
And I think it's hillarious how they're wrong in thinking the crusaders are uncommon or common!

Yeah, I'm Triscuitable from Giant in the Playground. I made my avatar too. I make avatars in the style of the Order of the Stick. If you want one, you can request one. Expect a wait, I do them on GitP as well.

I think only WotC-licensed stores get them, and in limited quantities.

Meat, Tanion - thanks folks.

Hopefully this is just some terrible mock up.
