This might be the opposite: a bunch of creatures in every CC? Certainly wouldn't contain all the creatures in the game (or the best per cc), but as a way to start playing it in paper form? 5 per cc up to 8cc would be 40 cards. The decent rares could be in the higher rarities, etc?
Otherwise, where is the source? Seems like a bad joke.
I'm going on record right now and stating that before the end of 2012 we will see foil dual lands in booster packs (The real, Alpha dual lands). You can quote me on that.
Its an alternate art momir avatar and 60 basic lands. Basically 1 of each guru land and then 1 from almost every block. Nothing special, just a way to sell the avatar. No info on price yet but you can view the decklist in the client.

Well that's kind of nice. The lands alone may be a nice incentive for online collectors.
Guru lands go for, what, like $30-$40 each in RL right? They are as expensive as a dual land.
'Course that's because they are so hard to find and so few were printed. I think putting them in something like this is kinda funny. Its a way that they can put almost every land art online so if you really want to collect a kind of art you can... I guess?
I mean, I own a set of Guru Lands, and they were hard to trade for and THAT'S WHY I DID IT! If you can just buy a set for $9 or something, who cares? I can't play them and look at my opponent and know if he is a collector or not by whether or not his eyes light up online, can I? Kinda defeats the whole point of owning them online on many levels.
I use the Jhoira avatar largely because I like the way it looks. There really aren't a whole lot of decent-looking female avatars. I've only ever actually played Jhoira Basic once.
Edit: Also, I don't get all the rage over Guru lands. Sure they look kinda cool, but I'd rather use Unhinged.

The only "rage" over them is their scarcity. Sure, they have a 'gold' foil set symbol and nice art, but really they're only worth +30 because there's not many of them around. They're only "cool" because they're hard to get. Take that away and they're just like any other basic land.
So, I hope that you can only WIN this product or they only make a very limited amount, otherwise it's super-extra pointless. You'd be taking away what makes the Guru lands the most expensively basic land ever printed. No one will care about owning one online.
You'd be making them as commonplace as, well, a basic land.

Meh, even if I played online, I have a feeling I wouldn't bother with this... definitely much cooler things they could have done instead. Like new characters....
As for Gurus, they have awesome, unique art compared to most basics. The scarcity doesn't "light up my eyes" though, I just appreciate the work that went into it by Terese. Anyone playing cards just because they are super rare- despite aesthetic appeal- is only going to attract others that appreciate the same thing (from across the table).
This is great! Momir Vig avatar is currently selling for $8.50 so anything under that will be a good deal, and of course the product's existence alone will drop its value.
I hope they sell this product every 5-10 years, if not continually, so everybody can join in on the fun!

Since the online and paper versions are separate items, I don't see what the big deal is? So the online version doesn't have the same scarcity or value of the paper versions. That doesn't hurt the paper version in any way.

I'm not mad. I'm just saying the online version of the Guru lands will be void of the one thing that makes them desirable In Real Life. That they'll be like any other basic land, online.
My set IRL will still be cool and I will still play them on special occasions, but I don't see why anyone would want an online version if they're making them common.
They're only special because they're special; take that away by making them common and your talking away what makes them special, and who would want to send money on something common?

They already are common as dirt online; they were given out as level 1 and 2 MOPR rewards for a quarter. I probably got 100 foil of each from bots for 4 cents each.

So a glorified land pack with the Momir Avatar? I hope it's under 10 bucks.

Meh, I think I would rather full art lands than Guru lands if both are equally easy to find.
I mean, the Guru art is pretty cool, don't get me wrong, but look at this forest. How do you bet that?
