Backing it up with Stoic Rebuttal & Co. means you have to slow roll a two-card Vindicate until turn five, which doesn't sound very attractive. On turn five - with counter backup - Polymorph is likely to instantly win you the game.
Read my post. It helps. Also read this. If you aren't responding to my argument, please make that clear, since you are quoting me in the post.
I think it could be useful in U/W/G metalcraft decks. Not only is Manic Vandal out of those colors, it would probably something you side in against the deck I'm proposing. Liquimetal Coating is useful in the MD as an enabler (almost 2 artifacts for 1 card) and it just happens to make sideboard cards like Naturalize more versatile. Seriously.
Isn't an augur some sort of priest that interprets the will of the gods by studying the flight of birdies?.
Yes, but I think it could also be a pun on the word "auger," meaning a kind of drill. Since a "core auger" would be drilling towards the core... I'm betting this is intentional.
I just skimmed standard and green will maybe have 5 ways to destroy artifacts with Red giving 2 more (at decent costs).
5 mana to destroy 2 lands could be awesome.

The first thing that popped in my head was that hey had something to d with doing all sorts of nasty to Mirrodins core to, but watching birds to determine the will of Yawgmoth in the core of a world seemd a bit of to me..
So drilling does make more sence.

An auger is indeed a guy that uses the flight of birds to predict the future. But, lots of things just use the word to describe any kind of fortune teller. See Rakdos Augermage and Sadistic Augermage.
This card doesn't make Shatter.dec good. It does, however, work in Metalcraft.dec, and seems like it could be a reasonable sideboard card somewhere.

Nice vs. land, especially with Gorilla Shaman. Fine vs. other permanents but not particularly fantastic.
The question is, are we going to bother running Mox Monkey just for the god hand of turn 1 Monkey turn 2 Coating Turn 3 Nuke a land with 2 mana for whatever?
Best Limited usage I've seen here so far is the thought of shrouding your own Indomitable Archangel, making all your artifacts shrouded. Metalcraft seems real easy to keep up in a deck where your artifacts are all perma-shrouded. We haven't seen the set's Shatterstorm either, which we know via the Orb isn't being reprinted.
Agreed. This card can actually makes LD.dec usable without needing D-Force. Also doing this style of LD deck gives you ALOT of mainboard artifact destruction for a heavy artifact meta.

Hmmm...homonym trouble. An 'augur' is someone or something that is supposed to predict the future. An 'auger' is a boring tool. Boring as is drill, that is, not dull. And dull as in uninteresting, not unsharp.
The image is obviously a mockup/fake, but the card very well could be, and hopefully is real. I was hoping for Mycosynth Lattice reprint, but this is nice, too. My best idea so far is this plus Grand Architect plus a bunch of blue creatures plus that Eldrazi creature with the 20-mana activated ability.
To be honest, they aren't predicting the future. They are drilling holes in peoples minds..
Right, the play on words is the difference between an augur and an auger. The Phyrexian character quoted is the first kind (a fortune-teller or oracle) but his/her title is a pun on the second kind (large drill or earth-boring tool).
My friend had a deck with thran forge and this card should make him smile. No activation cost! And you can change non-creature permanents! Very fun card with repeatable artifact destruction...
That question about cenobite being a real word made me laugh. It reminded me of when Cerulean Wyvern was printed and people said "Where in Dominaria is Cerulea?" They do sell dictionaries at the grocery store. They're next to the printer paper and crayons.
My best idea so far is this plus Grand Architect plus a bunch of blue creatures plus that Eldrazi creature with the 20-mana activated ability.
This does not work. Eldrazi are not artifacts, and the Architect's ability only works when casting artifacts or using the activated abilities of artifacts.

I still could never understand why anyone would use their 20 mana just to cast more Eldrazi. Even Fireball* is a better choice than that. I guess the sheer hilarity would be worth it.
OMG ARTIFACT LANDS ARE BACK!!!!
Seriously, though, there have been like a lot of cards in this set that I've had fun trying to build around, but this might be the best. Thrown together with max naturalize effects and some Days in GW, this deck could be really, really fun.
Oh what a beautiful morning, oh what a beautiful day!
This is quite the splendid and efficient card. Now if I were to use this, I would use it with much, much artifact destruction spells. Shatter your walker? Heck yes!
the card gets a thumbs up from me. Its good, but not overpowered. With the metalcraft elves it makes them big one turn, and small the next. good helper to metalcraft, but not too overpowered. Probably gonna be good in limited.
