Because as we all know having your entire field thats covered with +1/1 counters becoming unblockable on the same turn Venser is played is just terrible....*end sarcasm*. Venser seems amazing to me for aggro artifact or Johhny decks.
Wizard solved the age old problem of rare dual-lands being a price barrier to entry in all formats, and nobody ****ing cares. Celestial Colonnade is one of the best cards in t2 and you can get it for $4. Be happy. Don't play the few mythics that you don't need for a competitive deck.
Most of the issue with Mythic is its rarity and power level and distribution of certain cards like Planeswalkers. Increasing the yields for a chance for a Mythic, or placing some PWs at rare can alleviate such issues. The dual lands were only ever really a problem in block and type 1, and still those issues remain to an extent. The pain lands were/are dirt common for standard.
I've said it for years, most of the issues with rares is they didn't really feel like they were "special." Sure you had stuff like Masticore or Vindicate or Wake Thrasher or Tarmogoyf, but there was still a lot of junk that didn't need to be in the sets. An even distribution of power over all five colors is what creates a balanced format, what runs counter to this is the primary focus of draft being the sine qua non of development rather than constructed trumping it where most of the cards are played long term.
Frankly, I feel that less is more and this is why I quit standard and play in the eternal formats. The ripple effects are far less devastating, but the upswing in price from the 5ks is a long term health problem.
The game has shifted from something you could reasonably do with a part time job as a kid to now becoming more akin to YGO's stupid prices where some rich kid or older guy comes into the tournament and wins with the advantage of extra dollars. It also makes trading more complicated when you have large denominations between the lowest and highest priced cards.

In Legacy, a mox is meant to accelerate you to be able to play your spells early on, normally turn one or turn two. To be able to use this new mox would mean dedicating a lot of artifacts in one deck, meaning revolving around artifacts as the theme of the deck. I count Affinity and some rogue decks. Anyone who says this will be used in Legacy is sadly mistaken and should cease their mindless banter on this matter.
Certainly some people will run it *for affinity decks do still exist in legacy just well... dont do well but they exist* and those people will rather want this card. Its good not great and will probably be 10 bucks maybe less.

SonofaBith - Wizards was so excited about making the packaging for Modern Masters 2 recyclable, they decided to make most of the rares and all but 1 of the UC's recycle-bin ready too. Convenient!

I feel safe in asserting that this will assist in making affinity a deck again, at least for a little while. While it may occupy a dredge like(easily hated out) position in the meta, a free 1/1 and an upgrade to springleaf drum are pretty fantastic for the deck.
The mox is bad. It is a bad mox. Moxes are there to let you do degenerate things early. This will not do that in standard and it won't do it in most legacy decks.
If a deck emerges which plays a lot of zero cost artifacts, this could find a place within it. It may, maybe have some use in Time Sieve combo decks in the new extended.
But it is not a "build around me" card. It is an accelerator, there is no good reason to try to support it.
A quick question to all: How exactly does this new Elspeth fit into the 'Superfriends' deck list? Early on it blows things up and the opponent can very well still recover since many are afraid of overextending due to Day of Judgment. Later on you should have other planeswalkers on the board and her ultimate is bad in that situation. If you don't have board presence at this point of the game, her ultimate will not save you. Am I smelling people who see a planeswalker and instantly spout 'zomg put it in a planeswalker deck now' without actually rubbing their two braincells together? I think so too.
Now consider: whether or not it is playable, there is no way to deny its a UTILITY CARD
YES! It is such a utility card, because we all know that every decks requires dozens of artifacts in order to function and be able to play this card! Unlike dual lands and such, noooooo. Dual lands don't define what utility really means perfectly and we should all just say things that are completely untrue!
Elspeth is very good but it is being overestimated. Consider that Planar Cleansing and Scourglass were similarly costed sweepers that were totally unplayable in recent standards. Putting the sweeper on a Planeswalker with other useful abilities makes it better, thats very much true, but this is not the level of insanity some people think. its solid, its useful, it will see play. it will be overpriced because of hype. it will be a solid card in a couple of white decks and thats about it. this ain't no Jace thing.
Mox Opal is being underestimated. it is much better than people here seem to think and its range of playable decks and formats is gigantic. this will be an incredibly potent and important addition to Vintage and Legacy. it will probably be a critical card in a linear artifacts "metalcraft" deck. It will also probably be useful as a high powered mana artifact in multi-color control decks that use a fair amount of artifacts. the card is superb in most ways. the only thing its not good at is making mana on turn 1. its a natural inclusion in any deck at all with enough artifacts.
Mox Opal: interesting. Probably shouldn't be mythic, even if it is legendary, as the ability just doesn't scream "Whoa" like most other non-BS mythics. Whether it'll see any play is anyone's guess; even in Vintage getting 3 other artifacts on T1 isn't guaranteed. Can't see it being too useful in Standard without the presence of artifact lands or a substantial multitude of playable artifacts at 2 or less.
Tempered Steel: ...and if there is a multitude of playable artifacts at 2 or less, something tells me this is the spell the Opal will be casting on turn 3. Coupled with Steel Overseer, this could be the start of a pretty mean artifact aggro deck.
Myr: Eh. Good in limited like nobody's business; the ability to trade with 3/3s and cripple anything bigger can't be underestimated. In a heavy infect deck this could be a high pick.
Elspeth 2.0: Doesn't quite have the raw power of her first form; getting three guys at a cost of 2 loyalty isn't necessarily that much better than getting 1 and adding a loyalty. Her +2 also pretty much requires you to have a decent board presence when you cast her. That being said, her ultimate is one of the best and most synergistic yet, and the ability to add 6 power to the board in two turns (Honor of the Pure bridges its fingers and says "Excellent") could make her a solid finisher in a WW/midrangeish build. Or it would, if it wasn't looking increasingly likely that W/U Control is going to run roughshod for the next year.
Utility card? Not in Standard, or Extended. In order to use this card effectively, you need to be able to reliably get at least two other artifacts in play by your first/second turn. Not every deck is willing to/should be playing that many artifacts just to use this card, which you won't even need four copies of anyway (since multiples are dead cards). Utility cards can be put into a huge variety of decks without having to build around them. This is a card you have to build your deck around in order to use well.
----------
But the bottom line is, complaining that a company that sells you a product is trying to make money is a ridiculous notion in and of itself.
Yeah. Dual lands only fit into their respective colors hence they are not utility either. Saying it only fits into artifacts is not a valid response, and saying that since its only going to be a auto four of in vintage(assuming this is true) is a laughable way fo saying "I wont need it so who cares".
Bottom line is complaining because a company point blank lied to its customers is a ridiculous thing to do in and of itself.

two other artifacts.
Yeah, theres a chance the mox might not come online until turn 2, or even turn 3. At which point its a free +1 any color mana that cost you one card, as compared to chrome / diamond, which will *always* take 2 cards to come online, and may *also* fail to come online until turn 2 or 3 sometimes.
Seriously, whats the argument here? That metalcraft might be a large enough requirement to make this card too weak to play? So this card has two options. It can either be a playable utility mythic, or it can be unplayable. Does the sheer playability of the card determine if its utility or not now? Is a 2R lightning bolt no longer utility? Is a mutavault that only becomes a 1/1 no longer utility?
Its a mox. Its a 0 mana cost artifact that taps for one of any color.
If thats not utility, I eat my hat
Now consider: whether or not it is playable, there is no way to deny its a UTILITY CARD
If what you mean by utility is that its a staple 4-of...think again...it is Legendary. You can't have multiple copies on the board. Not to mention if an opponent has them too.
