Seems decent, but I don't think it will see a ton of play (I guess Cancel is dead, I don't see the purpose of them printing it 9000 times now cos nobody will use it)
I'm not liking all these metalcraft instants, but it's a good counter anyways, it's Cancel in non-artifact decks and Counterspell in artifact heavy decks.
This one maybe will see play outside of standard?
And I agree, it has a really ugly name!
I'm excited to make a U core Artifact Control list. Some Lodestone Golems, Mana Leaks, this, Chalice's + Mox Opal to get you to All is Dust mana quickly. All is Dust with a Golem on the board seems good.
Stoic Rebuttal - 1UU
Instant (Common)
Metalcraft - Stoic Rebuttal costs 1 less to cast if you control three or more artifacts.
Counter target spell.
(there's no image though)
Remember when WOTC thought lightning bolt was too strong, and thus like every block had a lightning bolt variant that was supposed to be super awesome because it used a block mechanic like Cycling, Madness, etc?
Yeah... this is a waste of a card. Period. Might as well print a straight up counterspell you can't play until turn 4.

There are both many zero cost artifacts in this set, and several mana producing artifacts in this set(In fact, there's one that's both). So I must ask: Are you trying to look like an idiot?

Check out the thread for my cube if you have the time, and tell me how terrible it is.
Generals meant to be drafted first in a single pack of 6 cards.
And here is the actual cube, meant to be drafted in 4 regular sized packs. (60 card decks)

This is a strictly better cancel but strictly worse counterspell, which is as close as we are getting to it.
That said, Why WotC, Why?!!?!?

~Intelligence is Bliss; Ignorance is Denial.
Skill is an ability that relates more so to the type of deck that's built and how said player pilots it. It also relates to the ability to assess the board and use the cards available to you in the most optimal way relative to each situation.
When a deck is filled with above par cards and every play is solid, there comes a diminishing need to "think" for the lack of wanting to use a better word.
Even if it is a counterspell that has requirements to be like Counterspell, this new, upcoming environment wilaccept with open arms and screams "DENIED!"
Why? Because UU for a counterspell pretty much kills all design space for counters with no drawbacks or bonus at 2cmc. 1UU is the standard to counter to allow variants for 2 colored mana with drawbacks like being multicolor or effects like Deprive.
This is a good card and it will see play in a meta with moxes, just like Deprive did last season. As they are both great variants they are going to be played for the next standard season, so i can say 100% sure that it was the right choice by WotC to make Cancel the standard counterspell, wouldn't you agree?
I for one really like the name.
This seems right in terms of power level. Better than Cancel, worse than CS. I wont run it, but should be interesting nonetheless.

Seems really strong. I was already planning on playing a counter heavy blue based deck using everflowing chalice etc. This card seems perfect for it.
And cool name! Hope the art is good.

I do like the card, but I wounder how easy it will be in an active game steeing to keep metalcraft active.

For those of you who said counterspell was too strong, this should satisfy.
It meets both groups halfway, but doesn't give either exactly what the want. And yet I think everyone will still be happy with this.
Oh yeah, and this is exactly why this is the first black/core set in two years without cancel: We got a better one.
There are both many zero cost artifacts in this set, and several mana producing artifacts in this set(In fact, there's one that's both). So I must ask: Are you trying to look like an idiot?

The point is they dont want counterspell back.

Great card, can't wait to play with it!
Wish the name was cooler but oh well.
