it's also mythic and legendary. i hate to beat a dead horse, but compare it to Baneslayer.
Ok, I will.
Baneslayer kills in t+4 turns, Skithiryx kills in t+3 turns where t = the round you have 5 mana.
Baneslayer kills in t+4 rounds, Skithiryx kills in t+2 turns, where t = the round you have 6 mana.
Provided you are goldfishing (i.e. your opponent has no answers), not only does Skithiryx kill quicker, it's also a much, much better topdeck when you have access to more than 5 mana.
Sure, there are ways in which Baneslayer is better (you can play multiples, she gains you life, etc), but so does Skithiryx (it regenerates, it has haste, it deals damage that can't be healed with traditional lifegain).
As said, I am not at all confident that poison won't be broken somehow, somewhere in its current incarnation. Combine it with pump, and you've got a very quick kill.
For example: t2: infect creature, t3: attack, triple Giant Growth. That's a turn three kill! With commons!
Let us not forget, Skithersajkfhsak is a dragon, and while we compare him to Baneslayer, she is called Baneslayer because "Demons and Dragons" are the "Bane" part. In this comparison, BSA wins.
Yet another Ob Nixilis, Demon of Death's Gate, etc. Good, dangerous card that meets its match at 5 mana (roughly the same turn) in the opposing color.

My Clan Is Dead.... Long Live The Izzet! Johnny, born and raised. Always lookin' for the Next Level Combo. Thanks to Bornover of FHLS for the banner!
It's because of a certain line in rules text that goes something like "Tap (or untap) target artifact (permanent)".
Er... Thank you?
I guess I should've said that it intrigues me, I mean, there´s not a lot of diference between an artifact that you have to tap and sacrifice to use its ability and one that just requires you to sacrifice it, unless there`s a major 'tapping artifacts to do something' theme in the block...
Ouch. 4 poison counters per swing. I'd like to give that dragon Snake Cult Initiation.

No, its mythic. He was saying that playing the dragon, attacking and playing 3 giant growths on it is game winning. I was saying that no-one plays Giant growth, especially not in a black deck.
Pretty much the situation he produced was impossible/never going to happen.
I don't see how this can be. Think about it, with cards like Venser and Distortion Strike around, Poison will be overpowered beyond belief with out a way to remove them. I don't know if I buy it. I mean think about it.....5 damage from infect creatures mean the game is almost over. Any boosters to infect creatures become game ending, any unblockable spell on a big infect creature means game over. I don't think Wizards would be silly enough to not have serious answers to poison.
So I need to play an Infect creature, boost it and make it unblockable, wait a turn for you to NOT get rid of it or give it haste... and you think it's overpowered ?

Because its not being done now...? Or because pumping an infect creatures is an archetype already tested and we know how effective it is already?
...do you understand how you sound?
Everyone, everyone, is going to take a stab at B/X infect, most likely B/U for unblockable and proliferate, but i dont see why B/G wont 'jump' up either... Hand removal (discard), Gigantiform (referring to auras in general) and Vines of the Vastwood are still going to be in standard post rot right? doesn't look that impossible to me.
That is clearly generic two drop infect creature. How would the dragon be out on turn two? Also with the dragon you only need to have 2 giant growths to win.
And.... This. ^
@ Adjective Ocean: You do realize this creature is 5cmc right? Game ends in standard more often then not now in about 4-5 turns. ...whats the issue? you can't 'control' poison counters?
Skill is an ability that relates more so to the type of deck that's built and how said player pilots it. It also relates to the ability to assess the board and use the cards available to you in the most optimal way relative to each situation.
When a deck is filled with above par cards and every play is solid, there comes a diminishing need to "think" for the lack of wanting to use a better word.

Cause you would need 3 giant growth's turn 3, for a turn 2 3BB, flying, infect, 4/4 dragon.
I do too. If they print a really good proliferate card, then I can see it being really strong. As it stands, this could be a suitable replacement for something like Oblivion Ring. I will definitely be testing it out. A cheaper Icy Manipulator definitely has potential, even if it doesn't pan out in practice.
There's a lot of difference. With Tumble Magnet you could stop a bomb from activating.
Although it would be weird(unless he doesn't have one white mana ready) for the player not to activate the bomb in response to Tumble Magnet activation.
That doesn't seem like 'a lot of difference' to me...

I was indeed referring to a generic two drop infect creature. So far we've seen two (Ichorclaw Myr and Plague Stinger). In standard, post-rotation, both are able to produce a t3 kill, because besides Giant Growth, we also have Groundswell and Vampire's Bite. If you can't stop that, say because you're busy using Cultivate to ramp into Primal Titan on turn 5, you will be dead before you can blink!
Hmmm. Close, but... Norin the Wary would have real difficulty attacking for General damage. (Though you have to pity anyone using Norin as a general!) As would my friend's general Azami, Lady of Scrolls, or anyone using Opal-Eye, Konda's Yojimbo.
That dragon isn't just EDH viable, I think it's standard viable. It's a 3-turn clock on its own right, it's big and strong and very well costed at 5CMC I think. Guaranteed sweet finisher.
I'm thinking UB with that. It's going to be strong.
If I read it correctly. If you have a steady progress in your graveyard and a pyromancer's ascension on the table with 0 counters on it, and you cast another steady progess your pyro will trigger then proliferate will trigger making your pyro active. Seems pretty good to me.
Also, droolworthy dragon! Oh sweet god I want some. This set looks amazing so far and we haven't even seen a single red card either. Gonna to have to buy many, many boxes
Also, is it just me or is this set being kept a lot closer to heart then others? Normally we'd have some leaked spoilers outside of the prepared ones but this time... nothing. (I'm not counting the wurm)
I would not be surprised if it gets to UW planeswalker loses to (U or B) infect which loses to red which loses to UW planeswalker with G-artifact and UW artifact and titan decks filling the blanks. (This is speculation as of today and is subject to change with more cards to be spoiled please try not to flame)
