I did a quick search for "watermark" in this thread, and I don't think that the "aligning yourself with particular faction" thing has been brought up. In my opinion the watermarks support this theory.
I remember that Back in KAM-RAV standard, I felt dirty putting Selesnya cards into my Golgari deck, because the watermarks were all wrong *shrugs*
i love this new key word however i don't think we will see it on things that cost 1-2 mana unless the activation cost is high like on this card and it might cost 1-2 mana to activate the ability but only on cards that cost 6+. this ability is very powerful so i am pretty sure they will balance it like this.
In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck ********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like this to occur and validate you.

Well, to be a theory, it'd need to be debatable, but Wizards has basically out-and-out said that it'll happen.

Support what theory? We already know that it's a thing for certain informal tournament settings, but at the same time it's not going to be an official game mechanic for reasons people have already brought up (especially the bad way it interacts with reprints.)
The one thing that seems off about Proliferate is the wording. Shouldn't it be "You choose any number of permanents and/or players with counters on them, then give each another counter of a kind they already have."?

Microsoft's latest update for Gleemax was buggy, and resulted in multicolor in every block since Lorwyn.
The one thing that seems off about Proliferate is the wording. Shouldn't it be "You choose any number of permanents and/or players with counters on them, then give each another counter of a kind they already have."?
I don't see the problem with the actual wording, which is slightly shorter.
I like how the proliferate ability can target players.
When I read the text I looked back to the title and it made me think, and I am fairly certain they wouldn't bring it back in a Mirridon set, but could this be to spread the "Contagion" Of poisin counters?

Right. I feel quite confident that most of the uses of the mechanic will be like this, on single-use spells that let you Proliferate as a side benefit. I seriously doubt there'll be more than a couple reusable sources, or any that are more efficient than this card.
I wouldn't be so sure, for the simple reason that this is an uncommon. If this can be an uncommon card with proliferate, there could easily be a stronger rare/mythic with the mechanic. They could make an artifact Titan to complement the M11 cycle with proliferate as his effect That would be fun...

Look at scry. Crystal Ball is an uncommon, reusable artifact version of the mechanic, but that doesn't mean there's a stronger reusable version at rare.

They is plural. If you only have one permanent that applies, the grammar would be off unless they did an "it or they" and that would be really awkward and long.
Wait...that one clasp thing or whatever...can it target Planeswalkers? I know it says target players in it, but Planeswalkers are not players. Cards like lightning bolt can "target" Planeswalkers only because you can redirect the damage. But can you redirect counters?

A Planeswalker card is a PERMANENT. Proliferate can effect permanents (but it doesn't target anything).
I'm trying to wrap my head around proliferate -it seems a little odd to me that it's a keyword that functions as an activated ability. Are there any other abilities like this?
I wonder if/how creatures can have proliferate:
"Whenever creature X deals combat damage to a player, you may proliferate"?
this artifact has serious constructed applications - when ETB kills lotus cobra, levelers, weakens potential blockers and has a long-term effect that could give you an out for unused mana.
I guess I am way more excited for a colorless "removal" - than proliferate
Whoever brought up the Myojins was the real genius. EDH awesomeness continues. Get a load of these (now) repeatable effects:
Remove a divinity counter from Myojin of Cleansing Fire: Destroy all other creatures.
Remove a divinity counter from Myojin of Infinite Rage: Destroy all lands.
Remove a divinity counter from Myojin of Life's Web: Put any number of creature cards from your hand onto the battlefield.
Remove a divinity counter from Myojin of Night's Reach: Each opponent discards his or her hand.
Remove a divinity counter from Myojin of Seeing Winds: Draw a card for each permanent you control.

Scry, clash, regenerate, etc. It's called a keyword action.
my reasoning is that if they print something like this, they will undoubtably print a colorless answer. Maybe giving other colors planeswalker kills. if they do it I'm happy. if they dont then... well I guess this really is a mirrodin set...
Is no one else Excited that there's a Knight creature at common spoiled? Given the Knight lord in M11 theres a good chance there will be alot more

Gilder Bairn gets a keyword shortly after Arcana reveals just how proliferated his image was.
Veeeeeery subtle, Wotc.
I see your point, but Gilder Bairn's ability isn't the same as proliferate.
Anyway, I think the clasp will be played. The proliferation ability is slightly expensive, but as a repeatable effect it's primed to be broken. Meanwhile, its CIP ability is pretty decent, and can conceivably kill stronger critters over time.
Meanwhile.... kemba's skyguard: solid limited card, and kinda neat for pauper decks that are running the pridemates. Smooth curves are fun.
Umm... Ally.dec? Keep proliferating the counters! Awesome.

Yep - It's gonna need a Vampire Hexmage variant in order to produce a balance.

WUBRGPauper Battle BoxWUBRG ... and why I am not a fan of Wayne Reynolds' Illustrations.
Personally, I can see it only in black or green. Blue might get some, but I don't much care for the idea of blue spreading poison.
Like I said earlier, I have a bad feeling about all of this. I hope I'm wrong.
