Necrotic Plague is interesting for multiplayer and works as some not so brilliant removal in limited. So basically a dollar or less rare, the concept is pretty cool though.
I'm wondering if Sorcerer's Strongbox was just forgotten from the spoiler or if its a preview of SoM
As for the Necrotic Plague, I enjoyed playing with Nettlevine Blight The one is better for multiplayer but will be fun to play with especially if your big creatures have Shroud
Plague could be fun in an abyssal persecutor deck, if for no other reason then that it is fun to make your opponent kill themselves. Get them to negative health with just an abyssal out, cast that. Next turn they have to play it on your abyssal and you win at upkeep! Fun times.
Anyway, can you cancel the enchantment when it moves to a new creature? Or is that only possible before it originally resolves. Like, could they kill my creature, I turn it back kill there creature and then cast cancel when they try to move it back to one of mine?
Me: Swamp, go
You: Forest, BoP, go
Me: Swamp, go
You: Plains, Lotus Cobra, go
Me: Swamp, Pawn of Ulamog, go
You: Island, Baneslayer, go
Me: Swamp, Necrotic Plauge to Baneslayer, go
You: Sacrifice BSA, return Plague enchanting Pawn, land, Soverigns of Lost Alara, attack with Eldrazi Conscription'd Cobra for 12 trample.
Me: Sacrifice Pawn of Ulamog, return Plague enchanting cobra, get Eldrazi spawn. (Then apparently you want to play Abyssal/Ghast *shrugs*) You: Sacrifice Cobra, return Plague enchanting Abyssal Persecutor, attack with Eldrazi Conscription'd Sovereings for 14 trample.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
Riiiiiight, this is exactly what black needed instead of Mutilate... /sarcasm. Don't even try to convince me this thing will ever be played instead of consuming vapors; it won't. It also pretty much confirms no black rare sweeper. Sad set for black so far...
As long as you let the enchantment be put on your creature, it doesn't matter when you sacrifice it. As long as that creature hits the graveyard by any means, you can choose another creature for the Plague, thanks to the wording on the card.
Edit: Actually this can potentially be quite good if you're playing a Token deck using Black. In most situations, Consuming Vapors would be better, but if the opponent is committed to the board, you can choose his or her biggest threat and kill it, and he or she must select one of your creatures, which continues the cycle as long as you both have creatures. I can imagine it being quite annoying to have a Baneslayer Angel sacrificed and only getting to choose Eldrazi Spawns in return, and then the spell can be reused next turn too!
yes you would choose a new creature. There are 2 seperate triggers.
The "Sac this" trigger and the "When this creature goes to the yard" trigger.
You could sac the creature at any time.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
Not really as they choose who gets Vapored. This thing sticks around for a while and causes some chaos. Obviously a multiplayer card... but it's removal for industructable creatures.
Awakening Zone seems like it'd feed it well and curves into it... but black and green don't really seem to have a great way to abuse it.
Too bad Sorin Markov costs so much, and Garruk Wildspeaker doesn't play as well with him as the White planeswalkers and Ajani play together.
Though, lots of removal, several different types of ramping (Garruk untaps and Eldrazi spawn), and a possible mindslaver their turn before an overrunned token swarm alpha strike seems kinda neat.
If you wanted to get really nutty, well- Liliana Vess can tutor for parts, and well, with all the sacs going on, that ultimate is probably pretty ugly. Especially if it's Overrun.
It's all probably too gimmicky, though. But hey, U/W could play superfriends- maybe B/G could too. (Sadly, I'm not seeing much in the way of an answer to Jace 2, which kinda makes it fall apart. (well, I guess Hexmage is always around, and you are playing lots of black... and it doesn't matter to Necrotic plague WHEN it goes to the graveyard... and Maelstrom Pulse, I guess. )
Note that Garruk's Packleader is better than speculated: it has "whenever a creature with power greater than 3..." and not "whenever another creature...".
It's now a cantrip!! A 4/4 for 5 that cantrips seems pretty good now!
Wrong, look again, it still says 'whenever another creature...'
I like Necrotic Plague like Endless Whispers but not. Besides with Lodestone golom and Juggernaut maybe Brown stax will show up in the future...Won't that be FUN
Edit: Whats up with juggys art? Flavor talks about a city full of living people and art shows it Rolling over zombies WTF?
Wow. I think this is the first time the prerelease art fot a card has been better than the regular art (Sun Titan). Necrotic Plague looks fun, and the new art for the cards kicks ass!
However, in today's culture of Justin Bieber, Jersey Shore, and Twilight, where every song on the radio, every program on television and every site on the internet is just another monument to the pinnacle of human stupidity, it's certainly not the worst thing that people could be watching.
Necrotic Plague seems like a really fun card to me. I don't see it being extremely competitive without running a deck where the only creatures are constantly generated tokens, but it still seems like a card that would be just plain fun to play in all kinds of circumstances. On a side note, I really like the non-promo Sun Titan art! Very cool indeed
But seriously, this sentence:
When enchanted creature is put into a graveyard, its controller chooses target creature one of his or her opponents controls.
Why didn't it say: When enchanted creature is put into a graveyard, its controller chooses target creature an opponent controls. ??? Is that different? The way they worded it now is just way too hard for a starting magic player (and even for me 'cause I didn't get it :-/)...
Because you control the enchantment, "opponent" would mean your opponent, so with that wording it would just keep bouncing around your opponents' creatures and never yours.
I guess necrotic plague all but puts the nails in the coffin for any real chance at mutilate to return. I was really hoping with the removal of nightmare (and the rare "swamps matter" card) we would really have a shot at it... but alas there is only one slot left and this janky pc of s is pretty much sitting on the exact same cmc horribly trying to perform the exact same task.
Maybe if it just gave them the choice of creature it landed on, but didn't force it to land on an opponents creature... at least then if one is playing creatureless mbc they could potentially use it... but as it stands its horrible...
Of course, you guys know that a blue black nimbus maze is definitely not being printed in M11. Not sure of the worth of the discussion about it, really.

I agree, core sets are not the place to print one-of duals, regardless of them being part of a cycle or not. On that note, I don't understand where everybody is getting the blue from as the only indication of anything aside from the dead trees (black) is the mountains in the background (red).

Thank you WOTC for introducing the Modern format, a format where all the whiners can enjoy a level playing field and where they can play with none of the best cards of all time!

Tough for it to prove that it is worthy enough to be in Jund though ;).
Feel free to bid on my cards here!

Lodestone golem and Juggernaut are going to be best friends in standard.
No they're not. 5/3 for 4 mana ain't much.
Juggernaut and the Abyss Jr. are cute and all, but meh.
I'd really like foils of reprints having original art to be M11's "schtick". Been wanting that since 10th edition actually.

Man, your ideia its not bad! The pic of Nimbus Maze is almost the same of the Mystifying Maze.
