Instant speed Overrun? very nice. I hope they do something different with it though.

Creatures you control gain +X attack and Trample until end of turn, where X is equal to the number of creatures you control.
As much as I hate to admit it I think you're right. Why is Wizards catering to the
ex Yu-Gi-Oh! players more while leaving out the veterans I don't know, alienating half the game's playerbase isn't a good idea.
If Blue gets the shaft again in this Core Set I could imagine how many more of the game's most faithful playerbase not the collector's but the people who play Magic for Magic would quit the game. Maybe not...
What an naive and uninformed point-of-view. Did you see the deck that won Grand Prix: DC? UW control. You are clearly stuck in about 3-4 months ago at Jund's height: the community has moved on and so should you. Not to mention that the UW deck doesn't rotate this fall and that blue has been given the most important control card in years in the form of Jace, the Mind Sculptor. I also think that UW will probably dominate from when Scars comes out until Zendikar rotates out, but that is neither here nor there.
Yes, these intro rares look and sound kind of cheesy, but that is the way core sets usually are: they need to be generically fantasy in order for newer players to understand and get into the flavor of the game. This isn't a new phenomenon.

"I don't know why people say a double-edged sword is bad. It's a sword. With two edges." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter
I doubt that having three enemy-colored decks is a sign of anything in regards to enemy-colored dual lands. Even though the secondary color was just splashed in them, three of the 2010 Intro decks were also enemy colored. The reason they can have more than just a splash of the second color this year is likely due to the 19 extra cards in each deck
You already have your enemy-colored support lands, I wouldn't expect to see more of them in this core set.
Here are more of my useless and unrealistic predictions:
Agreed, those are pretty damn awful.
Guys, why argue about vampires and zombies when both creature types are here to stay? And please, don't be too quick to judge the new take on the vampires, not even a year have passed yet.

we have 4 cards for each enemy color support. While Ally Colors have 12 lands to support there color combination. Fetches plus M11 enemy duals would allow for both ally colors and enemy colors to have a fair amount of mana fix (8 each)
Assuming they reprint Goyf, they could make it uncommon if they really wanted to. It's not like it would break limited or anything. I'm just not sure they'd want to drive its price into the ground for all of time. Shocks could be uncommon, too. It's not like dual lands are going to warp limited.
People really need to stop complaining about Blue being bad. Here, so you will stop complaining.
Seeing as it's a core set so you can't really expect more than a couple cards in each to make a significant impact in standard. here are the cards in M10 that did.
White- Ajani Goldmane, Baneslayer Angel, Honor of the Pure (briefly), Open the Vaults (brief)
Black - Doom Blade, Black Knight, Vampire Nocturnus
Red - Ball Lightning, Earthquake, Lightning Bolt, Siege-Gang Commander, Warp World (brief)
Green - Ant Queen, Borderland Ranger, Elvish Archdruid, Garruk Wildspeaker, Great Stable Stag, Master of the Wild Hunt, Llanowar Elves, Rampant Growth
Blue- Jace Berelen, Mind Spring, Polymorph, Time Warp
Now in the green cards you can hardly count Borderland Ranger and Llanowar Elves and Rampant Growth as counting for much since they are always in the core set and are pretty run of the mill. That makes the totals

a pretty good smattering between all the colors in addition to the fact that UW fliers was one of the most popular archetypes in M10 limited. Don't know what you think should be in a core set but i think they did a pretty good job of making each color important and used
And here i was hoping that vampires were going to go away and we could have some good zombies again. Also disappointed that overrun is likely getting replace by overwhelming stampede. I'm beginning to think that wizards really does want older players to quit.
Orrrrrrrrr just a guess (which i'm hoping is true) is that they make this format not uncommon bomb oriented like Magic 2010
Fireball, Sleep, and Overrun all just said "I Win" and were first picks almost no matter what.

When people complain about blue "being bad" what they really mean is that they can't play a draw-go deck full of counterspells and one finisher like in the "old days".

If the Vikings were around today, they would probably be amazed at how much glow-in-the-dark stuff we have, and how we take it for granted.
Overwhelming Stampede could be good or bad, but I find it interesting that they are making a card that the name specifically says "I am an Overrun variant"....
I never buy precons. But these have piqued my interest. I love the dual colors and think it's cool how the boxes have the mana symbols it uses glowing to indicate as such. Superb design.
You know back in the old days, when there wasn't EDH, these "griefer" cards in decks were the norm. If you played a Winter Orb when you're opponents were tapped out, it was a good play. Now, you get people telling you they wanna punch you ? It's really sad how carebare this format is, to the point that some loser has to rip up your cards.
Good to see the 60 card decks confirmed, and still having a booster. Hopefully the decks themselves will be of passable ability. I liked being able to buy a couple of the old 60 card precons and combining the best features of both to create a decent casual deck. For $25.98 all told you can get 120 cards and 2 packs, so one would hope something amusing could come from that, or one of these and a deck-builder's toolkit could be pretty spiffy, especially for a beginning player.
But the Overwhelming Stampede has to more elaborate than Overrun by virtue of being rare, but I wonder just what will make it different. Making it instant is possible, but I wager it will have something to do with the number of creatures you control, the whole stampeding effect being greater depending on the number of creatures going stompy.

Just looking through the descriptions of the packs they seem to give some good hints as to what the cards do. The U/W deck seems to contain control magic ("seize control of your opponents forces") and I'm thinking that Conundrum Sphinx is going to reveal the top card of your library and possibly allow you to conditionally play that card ("use Conundrum Sphinx to hasten your foretold dominance"). Captivating Vampire seems like it might be a new lord although maybe not it the traditional way as I don't see them switcing out Nocturnus just yet but it does say "Captivating Vampire will BOOST your odds of victory". Ancient Hellkite will probably be at least a 5/5 or 6/6 flier and I'm guessing it'll either have firebreathing or be able to ping an opponent/creature since they say it will "end the game". I agree that Overwhelming stampede will probably be based on how many creatures you control since that seems right flavourwise. They don't give any real hints for the angel so all we can say for sure is that it will have flying.

Let me think why would wizards of the coast a game design company care more about attracting potential new players over catering to there existing fanbase.
I Could think of several stupidly obvious reasons. Being they have a very strong incentive to prioritize the health of the game over you, ie money.
People grow up, they get lives, if nothing else they die. WotC would rather like mtg not to die in 10 years. Sure they could make a huge cash grab, make a ton of money by catering to the established fan base, and then 10 years later mtg dies because no one is buying any more packs.
You remember the comic book industry right? How about the comics crash of the 90s? Is that really what you want for mtg?
well. I can say I am exited for these packs. Most of the time a pack is introduced I go "Oh blues doing flying again. Oh look blacks got something with death" then buy these to give away in events I throw at my college, watch someone new to magic like it, then get destroyed by "real" standard decks. But this one I'm actually wondering about since it made me go, "Hmm, that could be kind of cool." I still want to see deck list.
I can say the Overwhelming Stampede and angel intrigues me the most. The thought of green black intrigues me and makes my old magic player scream out for poison... but its vampires. Not that I hate them... I don't mind them.... But I always preferred werewolves...
Does the enemy colored intro pack for tell enemy colored duals?
Still hoping Knights will take over for soldiers as Whites tribe.
