Yeah except noone plays whispersilk cloak competitively and even if they did it's a clunky-as-hell "combo" that isn't even guaranteed to get you the win. If your top 6 turn out to be irrelevant (unlikely I know, but possible) now you have nothing left on the board, including the whispersilk cloak.
I didn't mention anything about it being competitive in any way, just that they are really good together enough to win you a game. I'm aware that it is clunky, but is fun as hell to do. Actually Greaves is better if that don't have a flyer in casual or Extended. I don't hardly play competitive Type 2, but the combo with Cloak would be fun to do just to mess with people.
Huh....well first of all, this guy seems very good. People bring up exiling a chunk of land and being **** out of luck, but this is more or less a guy you build a deck around, so one would assume the deck he's in is chalk full of huge threats.
Whether you end up exiling 2 or so Violent Ultimatum or Broodmate Dragon, it doesn't really matter: This guy flat out wins games in the right deck, imo.
Risky? I guess. Not that risky if it's built right. When's the last time you drew six cards and didn't get a relevant spell?
Also, question to anyone who knows: Does his ability...well...stack, if you will? It doesn't say the exiled cards can't be cast after the end of the turn. So would that mean that if you get in with him, you exile 6 cards (play 2, 4 still exiled), then you swing in with him again and exile 6 more (now you have 10 exiled spells to play for free).....etc. etc.?
Because that would mean each time you hit in with him he becomes better, and that would make this guy nutso.
Not that you'd need to hit in more than once to win the game, honestly, but is that how he works? Or can you only cast those spells for free before the turn is over? Or as his ability resolves?

I believe that when Mr. Demon connects he will make you sacrifice his protection.
Reading is tech
In the topic you'll already find that
- the cards must be played on the spot
- there are a bazillion reasons why this guy is not good, even in dedicated decks
haha, very nice. Thanks
His drawback is definitely harsh.
It's the johnny in me that loves him.
I saw a deck that uses him well. B/G deck ramping (with the new vine trellis for d) to the smaller eldrazi, or summoning trap, or this guy. With multiple methods to get out your bombs, it's not bad. Also can back up removal found in Black and Green. Once it gets going, it can be a real nightmare. Of course, after the first hit, you better be sure there's no Day of Justice coming down, but otherwise, real potential as part of a suite to cheat eldrazi into play.
I've skipped the middle of this thread, so pardon me if this has already been mentioned, but why not just play him with burn?
Everyone seems to be focused on Emrakul and other cards that are uncastable if you draw them, but if you just pack Lava Axe, Breath of Malfegor, Lightning Bolt, etc, you should be able to kill them with burn. after all, the 6 cards revealed only have to total at most 14 damage, and probably much less.
Obviously this deck would be reliant on hitting once with him which sucks. But odds are you are going to get 1-2 turns and 1-2 extra combat phases with every swing which is all you need for an indefinite number of turns or combat phases.
This deck embraces his ability instead of having problems with it.
I believe hellcarver casts those spells during your combat phase in which case the only "additional cobat phase" spell that works is savage beating as all the others have a clause "If it's somehow not a main phase when ~ resolves, all it does is untap all creatures that attacked that turn. No new phases are created."
or with multiple spells with cascade and either Tendrils of Agony or Brainfreeze, although, I'm not sure if storm recognises spells cast at the same time for its storm count, can anyone else confirm
And god over 75% of posts in the spoiler threads are full of people *****ing (and yes this is one of them. I am *****ing about you *****ers. Can we all just ***** a little less PLEASE?)
Right I neglected to read the ones like Relentless Assault so I guess they are all useless and Savage Beating is the only one that works the way I want it to.
Hahaha at the demon!
Wish it had haste and/or trample. If you play a funny deck that goes crazy with the trigger... if you are already so determined as to sacrifice everything else, you certainly don't want the demon getting removed in one of the thousands of ways possible now.
It wouldn't be overpowered that way, would it?
But maybe it would to the casual community. There's certainly no fun in getting crushed by Eldrazis around turn six. There is also no more game to play as the opponent's field goes poof when he reveals six swamps. This all-or-nothing-ness justifies putting it below the tournament power level.
Love it or Hate it the fact playing things for free is something too good, you will see less combo in standard but more combo in ext, so this guy will either spawn a bunch of really bad combo decks or we will see some crazy stuff. Its not the first time Magic did something really bad and broken.
personally will try to break him as soon the whole spoiler comes out.
the fact playing things for free is something too good
keep in mind, it's not really free. those up-to-six spells are at the cost of every other permanent you control and your entire hand.
it's a powerful effect, but it ain't free. this guy's a demon. demons don't give you anything that good for free.
selective memory out something like silence, 4x tendrils of agony, whatever, whatever (yea, 7 cards)
mirror of fate those 7 in to make them your library (after demon is in play), with 4 tendrils in the 3-6 positions
attack and cast top 6 cards for lethal (and overkill), stacking them so that the 4 tendrils are the last 4 spells to resolve
i'm pretty sure that since they resolve after the other spells, the storm(s) will work. also, at the selective memory stage you can remove all spells in your library besides one (or more) demon, one (or more) mirror of fate, and some treasure hunts to find those 2 combo pieces. it's still pretty slow/bad/disruptable, but awesome
The demon just kills everything in play he never kills himself. I think the deck I posted is actually quite reasonable almost taking the storm approach to the combo. Would probably just need a quick way to get him into play for that deck.
keep in mind, it's not really free. those up-to-six spells are at the cost of every other permanent you control and your entire hand.

Very true, its not free in the sense of no mana used but you do give up your board and hand position to try and overpower you op from the top six cards. But that doesn't have to be bad it seems that more and more cards are not forcusing on exiling cards, from what i understand if you exile cards they stay in exile as a specific zone, a card could come out which allows you to play them while they are in that status. We got mealstom nexus for cascade, why not rebound card for exile.
But once again nothing is set in stone, i mean look at dredge
Oh man, the thing is I DID think of Dredge when I first saw this card and said SHOOT! (replace the oo for an i and that's what I really said) NOW DREDGE CAN PLAY ELDRAZI!
Wasn't there an Eldrazi that likes to draw/dredge cards? And wasn't there an Eldrazi that likes to take extra turns? Dredging is also a good way to ensure further that you have Eldrazi close to the top.... OH YEAH JUST BROKEN!

I got my plan
I got survivalism

Also, sick art.

Feel free to bid on my cards here!
however, combine him with said savage beating and Demigod of Revenges
or with multiple spells with cascade and either Tendrils of Agony or Brainfreeze, although, I'm not sure if storm recognises spells cast at the same time for its storm count, can anyone else confirm

I know this doesn't work as well as I'd like, but it should, dammit.
That being said, if you win at your casual table with him you get hella bragging rights and style points.
personally will try to break him as soon the whole spoiler comes out.
Reminds me of that Terry Crews picture from White Chicks
