Cascade is only broken because of the perfect storm of cards in jund colors that are always broken when you cascade into them. Also, Bloodbraid Elf is really the only cascade card seeing extensive play, and it is widely agreed upon that it is over the top powerful and a mistake.
Yhup, the moment I saw BBE I put together a RG aggro deck that thwomped people. Can has BBE->Ball Lightning?
This guy is way more random than either of those spells. I'm not saying it wont see play, but I doubt it will be a Tier 1 inclusion aomewhere
I think it does Archdruids job quite well tbh. 1/3 chance to get a mana source that's equal to an Archdruid when a Llanowar is on the board, and it puts 2 more damage on the board (5/5 and a 1/1 vs a 2/2 and a 2/2) when you fufill the creature requirement.
Currently, there are not many slots in a mono green Elf based deck for the reason that you have all this insane amounts of mana and nothing to do with it, so I don't see her finding a home there.
However, while it reduces your overall mana pool in a straight-up Mono green beats deck it only gives an additional reason to run Fetches in a mono green setup, similar to running them in Vampires.
Probably beyond this argument is that I can see it working in a multicolor setup far better than Archdruid ever could. If you want to build an Elfball deck that Comet Storms them for a billion at EoT, this baby can produce red. Hell, this baby can produce any color mana you need: IN DOUBLES.
That's really kind of hot.
Edit: Get it?
Hot?*
*Comet Storm is a burn card. When things are burned, generally, they increase in temperature.
why would that happen alot? if you say added it into current jund.. yes that would happen ALOT. but the thing is you use your brain and dont add it in decks where it cant be more consistent. you put it in decks that are designed like mono g,naya allies, and mythic.
i know this may be hard to believe.... but maybe to just write this card off as garbage you'd need to playtest with it 1st?
i've been on this "this card is garbage boat" for this whole set mainly but to not see any POTENTIAL in this card is ridiculous. we all know tarmogoyf was thought to be trash at 1st, im not even saying card is anywhere on tarmogoyfs level, but this card should at least be tested with sac lands, the reveal top card from zen, and BBE, and who knows what else is in this set before its just written as unplayable
Sorry, but you're not exactly digging yourself out of the hole here.
This card is not especially good. It is, however, hilarious watching all of the responses from people who can't evaluate it correctly...

If God spoke to you, and commanded you to kill your own children, would you do it?
If your answer is "No," then your morality does not come from God's commandments.
If your answer is "Yes," then please, please reconsider.
Sorry, obscure reference to the format in my sig that about 8 people in the world have ever played. "Top card of deck revealed" cards are especially interesting in the format because 7 decks are used.
Well wow. Easily one of the higher contenders for playable cards in ROE.
Jace, Ponder, Halimar Depths, and, most importantly, fetchlands all help to keep the top card what we want it to be.
Yes you obv want to play this with planeswalkers and sorceries in your deck, not to mention BLUE ones.
Also lol @ BBE/Nocturnus comparison, one is a 2for1 3/2 haste all the time, the other is a flying overrun finisher.
This card? Its a Woolly Toctar or a Greenweaver druid, and we all know how much play those see in constructed right?

Attack one beating chicken of 4 cards, then erase 3 minus from your battleax. Never in your main phase will you do a 4 cards risen, but McDonald of 2 to the punish-bin. Again, beat softly to the end.
i really hate to burst any bubbles here but theres one thing I havent seen mentioned (i didnt read every post, just a few pages but its worth saying again.). I keep hearing "Its either a 5/5 or a mana accelerator!!". This isnt true. If its a creature on top its 5/5, if its a land it adds 2 mana....what if its a non creature, non land spell?....you have a grey ogre.
I will be the best or I will die trying to be the best; there is no middle ground for me. I will play against those with experience, abilities, and resources far superior to my own and though I may lose, I will learn. Every victory is a lesson, and every lesson pulls me a few strides closer to true understanding. I am unrelenting and far more persistent than most can bear. You may love me or hate me, but you will remember me when I have achieved success. - Kyle Layne Turner
Mul Daya Channelers doesn't gain any benefits if a non-creature non-land is revealed, but surely you are well aware of this fact and built your deck accordingly. Its like saying Bloodbraid is bad because it can cascade into an earthquake (its stretching it, but you get what I'm saying). You obviously wouldn't play this in a deck full of spells, but its great in a deck full of creatures.
very good card, but can't be used in every deck. Which is a good thing.

Because this card is only good in decks with creatures and land only? And why does being blue matter? You don't give a very good argument as to why this is super bad. Blue offers deck manipulation to make this work. Otherwise, it doesn't work.
I guess I'm falling for the "good in a vaccum" syndrome, but nonetheless, it is a cool card.
This card is not especially good. It is, however, hilarious watching all of the responses from people who can't evaluate it correctly...

"I don't know why people say a double-edged sword is bad. It's a sword. With two edges." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter
Really don't understand how this can be considered a bad card, or at the very least not good. You either get a 3 mana 5/5, potentially on turn 2 (and last I checked Leatherback Baloth sees a good amount of play) or you can get an accelerator.
Yes, this does mean a deck that only plays creatures and lands, but honestly have you never seen that done before? With enough threats like this it could work.
Despite being really good, this card is very "green": If it's not a creature or a land, then no bonuses. But great bonuses if it is. Green's gettin' good in this set.
This card is cool, but not that playable. If I want an aggro creature I'll play baloth first. If I want mana ramp I'll just play that new leveler card. Consistency is much more important than variety. Not saying I wouldn't consider this at all, but it would definitely be after I maxed out my other options.
Lol at people in this thread thinking they can accurately judge that a card is bad. Why do we have to bash on every single card that comes out only to proven wrong in like a few weeks? This is extremly solid and honestly it seems like Simic can be a deck. We have got the mana base and a whole hell of alot tools to use. Nulltread Gargutran, Fist Full of Counters, Elvish Visonary, Jace 2.0. Seems pretty good.
Not to say that this card is bad or Simic won't be viable, but with all the counters, Jace, and draw that deck wants, is this really a fit for it? Sure you can shuffle up the top card of your library sometimes, but I'm still suspicious as to how reliable this guy would be if a quarter of the time he were a grey ogre who eats your 2/3 drop.
Edit- Though, I realize a fun combo would be this and Nulltread- If you can drop the gargantuan the turn after you drop channelers, you're guarenteed a 5/5 to swing with. Ideal if it happens on turn 3 with birds/elves to bounce.
It's a nice card, I suspect it'll probably even fit in constructed, if a green beats or mana ramp deck of some sort becomes viable.
A lot of the responses like "it's random! it might give me a 5/5 when I want ramp, and it might give me a ramp 2/2 when I want beats!", are just plain flawed.
Birds of paradise is bad, because when you want a 5/5 beat you NEVER get one, it's always a 0/1. Leatherback baloth is bad because when you want ramp, you NEVER get it, it's always a 4/5.
Sorry, all of magic is random. If your deck has ramp and creatures, you might draw the wrong one occasionally. This card is interesting and unique because it can fill both roles, but not at the same time, in a semi-random manner. The fact that it's not completely random, and can be manipulated by other cards, is what will make this a strong card instead of simply a fun casual card.
This card is "ok", not great. It MIGHT see constructed play but probably not. It is best in a heavy-creature deck w/ library manipulation where this guy can consistently be 5/5. The ramp ability isn't very useful, there aren't many 5+ CC playable spells that you'll want to cast in your heavy green deck.
In Legacy w/ SDT (as some have brought up) it's not a good card. Coatl w/ Brainstorm and Sylvan Library is way better than this guy. If you have SDT on the board then you want to draw CB, not this guy. There are NO 5 CC playable spells in Legacy either (except FoW, that doesn't count) so the land ability is basically worthless.
Basically the problem with this card is that it's worse than a 3 mana 2/2 creature that taps for any color. Such a creature would be OK, probably tourney playable in the right deck. We have a 1/1 that taps for GG already which is sort of comparable and sees no play. Also it's worse than a 5/5 for 1gg which would be an amazing creature, but we have something close with Baloth. I guess you can come up with some dream case where it taps for 2 when you need it and is a 5/5 at just the right time, but in reality that isn't going to happen. There will be far too many times when you are looking to accel but can't, and other times when you're beating down with a Grey Ogre. It's not a great card, not even a very good card.

Thank you. Every single card seems to get bashed, and held up as "proof" that this entire freakin' set is crap, when in fact this set looks to be a gas. This card is kinda wacky yet kinda awesome. Which is a fair assessment of this entire freakin' set. I'm getting 4x ASAFP.

There are two women on the card... One's a shaman, the other a druid.
Cool card. I've been ebaying Wooly Spiders so I had enough 1GG cards for my Tome decks. I'll collect as many of these as I can get.

this creature is made for Eldrazi green. its either a t2 5/5 or very early eldrazi monument..
dont make things complicated people. and to those who are saying its crappy and too random. Eldrazi green is the deck which will house this as a 4-of.
