Well, I'm quite confused: in the Op that seems to be an Oversized promo card (where will be obtainable?) but today MTG.com has told us that Comet Storm is the Regular prerelease card (and this fact is quite bad in my opinion). Can anyone explain this?
Easily. Comet Storm is a PR promo, as confirmed by today's Arcana, and it is also used for an oversized "promo card" that will be given out by Wizards (the last one that I recall was Spellbreaker Behemoth from ARB, distributed together with Rewards mailing - at least I got mine in that way).

Rampaging Baloths was also released this way, as was Lightning Bolt. Before that it was Spellbreaker Behemoth, and before that it was Feral Hydra.

Quit your trolling. Lets get this thread fully back on track towards comet storm. So agian where and why would this card get player? R/U you say? Why not run Earthquake/Bane fire both seem to be better.
Because Banefire doesn't have the option of taking out your opponent's Baneslayer at instant speed, on top of doing 5 to the face for an extra 1R.
This card is crap for fast / burn decks. It's excellent for ramp decks, and for Control decks using R (It's quite common for UWR decks to sit there with a good 8+ land untapped for a couple turns, waiting to draw into a threat or just building up Planeswalker counters. Being able to EOT Comet Storm 2 guys + throw 3 to the face is pretty significant).
It'd be nice if it was slightly less awkwardly-costed, or had some sort of baseline damage to make it a little better early in a match, but it's still a great finisher card for control decks. If it was at least X1R, it'd be a little more reliable in being able to take out an X/1creature if you were really desperate, but obviously it's far weaker at that end of the spectrum.
Actually, now that I think about it, if you've reached 8 mana with a control deck, you've probably got the game in the bag already anyway... As nice as an instant-speed X spell is, maybe this card is going to be overrated.
Maybe a sideboard spell for control matchups, but there's better options there anyway..

Exactly, this card would be really, really good if Jund and Boros didn't exist, but they do.
Have a helicopter drop you off out front. Light your cigar with a small Indonesian boy holding a black lotus. Then bust out a craw wurm deck with no sleeves. Raw dog shuffle, loose terribly, flip the table, leave in a hovercraft.
It really isn't that good except in massive mana ramp strategies. The problem is that it doesn't really adress multiple threats without a hefty investment. Depending on the situation, you'ld rather be playing Volcanic Fallout, Eathquake, or even Lavaball Trap. And if you want to use it as a kill card, Banefire is probably better as well in ramp strategies.
It will make a fine addition to my Braid of Fire casual deck though, that's for sure.

I like this card.
Its great if u can cast it for 8 Mana on Baneslayer and player.
Dont forget it´s an instant.

Well speaking competetively. 8 mana. or you could spend four mana and terminate the baneslayer and 2 lightning bolts on the player. Then play card draw and not tap out. IMO this is just too expensive to see this card as a baneslayer killer. and this card does one thing well which is spending a lot of mana to target just the opponents side of the board. This is a targetable earthquake. Earthquake is better at being faster and if you have fliers you don't have to worry at all. Otherwise Comet Storm is better because you can target specific things at the cost of BOAT LOADS of mana

I think this is mythic, it's a highly efficient burn spell. Has anyone looked anywhere but standard? such as multiplayer or Two Headed Giant? this card was mythic because its way too good in THG limited/constructed and in multiplayer this will be a great game changer. The card is mythic because of it's potential, it scales VERY fast.
Standard will use it, if at all, for it's versatility and ability to be an overcosted removal spell/light sweeper (hit 3 creatures for 1 for 6 is expensive but still, it's not the worst ever) and a great finisher late game card.
Another note on mythicness, note it's the PR promo, which means there are a ton floating around, I'm pretty sure this drops the price a lot early, collect yours and the PR and you should be able to find them cheap.

So your going to have a 4 card combo to replace one card? isn't that very bad. Your putting 3 lightning bolts in one card, that's power. though the fact that it hits only the opponent's side does help a lot.
Zeeboot said it all when he said he would rather have lavaball trap. That card is terrible. This card requires way too much mana to be effective. For that much mana, there are way better options. No way this card sees play in standard unless standard gets a lot worse when Alara rotates out. Finally, there is nothing mythic about this card. It is an improved fireball for multiple targets and a worse fireball for a single target.
I like this card a lot. I think it's great and as I said during the conversation during mindbreak trap - How would you design a mythic counterspell?
Put yourself in that position. Design an X-burn spell that qualifies as a 'mythic'. It's not easy and I think Comet Storm does an admirable job without breaking formats. I certainly have a G/R deck that would love to replace a fireball (or 2!) for one of these...

Yeah, I keep thinking this too. And then I go back and read the type line and say "Oh yeah! It's an instant!"
There's just something terribly sexy about instant-speed X spells.

Omg... you have to spend money to play competitively?
Whaddaconcept.
Ya you do, and we would rather not have to pay an Extra $200 because something was printed at mythic that shouldn't have been.
By that logic you have no problem with wotc printing $1,000 cards.
A 40 dollar mythic rare would constitute a must have 4 of that goes in many decks.
Stats About Mythics
-Mythics are on average 40% rarer than pre-mythic rares
(old blocks about 200 rares, Mythic blocks 35+ mythics)
-They are printing more new cards a year not less
(about 665 now vs. 630 in most pre-mythic block)
-To drop the value of a rare by $1 a mythic must go up $2
-In a 3 year time span deck prices doubled. I am petitioning for the removal of mythic rarity. Sig this to join the cause.
Technik: my response would have to be that no one forced anyone to design a mythic direct damage spell. It seems possible, if not likely, that there are some types of spells that are by their very nature not intended to be mythic. Instant creature boosters like giant growth have been staples in green since the game began and I would find it highly difficult to design a mythic one that did not break the format, yet this problem is easily solved by not endeavoring to design one in the first place.

I'm not sure if you are talking about Comet Storm, but as much as I like the card, IMO there is no way it will be terribly high dollar. If it hits $10 I will be surprised. Between RR and a heavy CMC, it would be a x1 or x2 for some pretty specific decks.
