Ok He made a good point. IF and IF we get some solid control cards, counter magic mainly in U/B(Sorin) or U/R(Chandra Ablaze) they could see play. But Cancel, Negate, and the newRemove Soul (cant spell it lol) wont just cut it.
And yes, I completely agree. However, if we do get some good control magic (which I somewhat doubt, as we've been bombarded with control for a good period now) a Damnation on a stick (as people are speculating) would be quite formidable in a Control Archtype.
+1: Destroy target nonblack creature. (I'm convinced his first ability is a 'protect' ability)
-X: Each player loses X life, then discards X cards, then sacrifices X creatures, then sacrifices X lands.
-6: If an opponent would lose life, they lose double that life instead and you gain that much life. (Damage causes loss of life.)
Death Cloud Planeswalker FTW!
Hmm... except that Ultimate does nothing unless there's another affect happening.
+2: All players lose one life.
-X: Deals X damage to all creatures and all players
-9: Target player's life total becomes 1 and your life total becomes 20.
General Black Planeswalker guess
+2: All players sacrifice one creature
-1: Target player loses 3 life and you gain 3 life.
-9: Destroy all nonland permanents you do not control.
I would certainly agree. +2 destroy target creature. -2 Corrupt. But, for how awesome it would be to corrupt someone 2 turns in a row i bet we won't because the ultimate is going to be sick. He will see some play. All the walker do. Specially with the slower meta post rotation.
Yeah it should really be -3; that would make it make more sense now that I think about it. And yes he will see some play but not the kind that Vol or Elspeth do.
Perhaps the 6 cmc won't be as bad as everyone thinks it will be? Wizards wants to make the planeswalkers playable, and I believe that if the Rampaging Baloth card is true, we're looking at a land matters set, or at least in the first one. Perhaps 6 mana won't be as difficult to reach as it is now? Perhaps, they're moving away from multicolor, but as a result, they're rewarding monocolor decks with faster ways to load up mana?

Phylactery Lich will forever be known, to me at least, as Pimpin' Lich. Get up on it, suckas.
It will be dangerous for Wizards to reward loading up mana faster than necessary though. I hardly believe they will want another Urza block on their hands.
Speculation: It will be funny though, if some of the nonbasic lands in the set can be dropped down (aka falling Obelisks) with a land which then will provide a temp mana boost but will disintegrate shortly. Splice without Arcane, anyone?
I deff think Wizards scewed these results. Didnt everyone vote for a line of text?
I am surprised so many people are convinced Wotc is lying about the results. I actually think the results we're seeing has to do with three things:
1) Not everybody thinks the way you do, not everybody likes the same things you like. For example, some people care more about seeing art before knowing what a card does.
2) We weren't really sure what we were voting for, this is where Wizards was being deceptive, they could have made it clear. Some people thought the poll had to do with the next "you make the card," so they thought it'd be cool to pick the artist (some people REALLY care about their favorite Magic artist), or pick the casting cost, or even pick the rarity.
3) Some people just like screwing with polls because they have bratty personality types. They thought it was FUNNY to vote for something not too many people would care about.
As Monty said via dailymtg's twitter:
(Monty) The You Decide results are legit. We ran a poll so we wouldn't HAVE to come up with the order of results ourselves!

+2 : Destroy target creature, it cant be regenerated, gain life equal to its power.
-2 : Corrupt.
-7 : Exile all creatures, gain life equal to their combined power.
Also of note about the You Decide! results: MTGS is not representative of the entire Magic playerbase. As far as demographics go, it's probably far more skewed toward tournament Spikes than the viewers of dailymtg.com. Please understand that other people are often more interested in the flavor (thus name, art, etc.) than the mechanics because they just want to know more about the world of Zendikar.

The problem with the order of the reveals is that all the votes for text are split over 3 lines of text, if they just gave the whole text box as a choice it would've gotten more votes.
Thank you.
I've said, repeatedly, since the very beginning of this promotion, that all three text lines would be lower than the other "interesting" stuff like art, name, mana cost, and loyalty, because people who primarily want to see the text box are split between three different votes. This was an obvious result of splitting up the voting like this and didn't require Wizards to "make up" any numbers or "rig" anything (which, again, if it was so important to them to not reveal the text box first they would just reveal it in the order of their choice as they're doing with Chandra et al.)
+1 : Target creature gets -3/-3 until end of turn.
-X : Put X 2/1 black Vampire creature tokens onto the battlefield.
-6 : Vampires you control gain flying, lifeling and deathtouch until end of turn.
I'm just hoping now that not many people voted for rarity. I want to see lines of text on what the card does. I can already spoil that it is a Mythic Rare.
i really think that Sorin will be so versatile that mono block will use him as an auto include and that him being 6 cc will push this factor. he will not need to "fit" into a deck. although if this is true, expect players to make mistakes using him nonetheless because each option will be viable at anytime. i think wizards is pushing planeswalkers in this direction for new players and i like that, and as i just stated, having viable options to choose from after he is immediately dropped adds to decision making. not just having an ultimate that is linear: drop the planeswalker and add loyalty till you achieve the ultimate. or, it is unreasonable and takes forevor like ajani vengeants ultimate.
Ok...The first ability isn't going to be targeting a creature, because if it targets a creature, there a good chance that you won't be able to use it's +1 ability. The only exception to the rule is Elspeth, which has a second +1 ability that isn't target restrictive.
And I bet anyone someone got the 4Chan group to skewer the results, like they did for that Code Geass thing hahaha. Ok maybe not, but I mean so what we can't get the abilities yet, I mean, we'll get them eventually, it's not like we're going to die if we don't see Sorin's ultimate right now, 2 weeks and we get the full Sorin, so let's just be patient and enjoy the slow spoiling and speculation =)
I think his first ability is going to be something like Essence Drain.
No way. Ajani Vengeant just had that.
I guess that's the major downside with the Corrupt speculation. It makes sense on a 'vampire' planeswalker but it's territory that Ajani V already covered.
I'm guessing he'll have repeatable removal, but not as his + ability. Notice that all planeswalkers thus far can activate their + ability to gain loyalty when the board is clear of creatures. In fact, an empty board is in some senses the ideal place for a planeswalker, since they are always under threat of being attacked. Having something like "+1: Target creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn" would make this card unplayable in a Control vs. Control matchup.
Edit: Sarnath'd on part 2 of this post. Still, I guess they could include "may" and then this wouldn't matter.

I agree. Nevertheless, I certainly hope that the ability is something that you can use to protect this guy.
The art looks sweet and although his cost is rough I can see him as being very powerful. I'm sure his final will nuke the board. His final might be like -8 Destroy all creatures. You gain X life where X is the number of creatures that were destroyed in this way. Or something to that effect. I do have high hopes for Sorin because monoblack is my color of choice

I think the major thing that's a deal breaker about this whole promotion is this:
As soon as we got either the name, loyalty, or typeline, other fields "should" have been freebies. I'm thinking specifically artist credit (for art reveal), rarity (for a number of reasons) and so on. Once Loyalty was shown, that immediately knocks two others out of the running already; no one cares about the typeline and rarity anymore because they're both long-gone conclusions and quite obvious what they will be. The artist credit is kind of the same way: sure, we want to know who the artist is, but we care a lot more about getting that up front with the artwork itself.
And in case anyone from R&D is lurking, here's a suggestion for the next one:
Name
Mana Cost
Type, Rarity, P/T/Loyalty (one unit)
Art, Artist Credit, Card number
Rules text teasers (as now; line 1 etc.)
So for Sorin, it would've gone:
- Art + artist, card number
- Loyalty 4, Card name, Planeswalker - Sorin, orange-red mythic rare symbol
- Mana cost + full card frame sans the three abilities
- Text 1/2/3
- Text 1/2/3
- Text 1/2/3
Two weeks spent on the reveal, and done. (Or two days a week over three weeks.)
You guys are going too far out on a limb. Why does everything have to be complicated? Why can't his abilities be simple? Something like this!
+2: Target opponent loses 2 life. (Why not?)
+1: Sacrifice a creature, draw a card. (Haven't seen something like this in a while.)
-6: Exile all creatures. (Simple and elegant.)

Thirding the "those results are legit" concept. If you guys really think this is that implausible, may I invite you to read page 2 of this thread and onward--an awful lot of people on this very website voted art.
