F*ing Wizards, MYTHIC? I do not want another pay for another card at baneslayer costs. This should of been a rare, you know this is a auto 4 since any deck can run it.
For i think this is strictly better then Force of Will. !#%!^!$^!$^$!#$!#$#.
WOW...just wow. This card is ridiculous, free spells are nasty especially when it is a free counter that can stop multiple spells at once. This is definitely going to be a money card.

This card, during standard season, will top out at $8 if a miracle happens. Most likely, you'll get a playset for $15 or so at the most. Probably less.

This spell isn't free most of the time, I don't understand why you think its better then force of will or even PoN. After they play 2 spells the opponient will just lock and stop from playing the 3rd making this a 4 mana counter at best; I can't even compare it to anything because all other 4cc counter spells have a second ability, closest thing is controvert. Only good in Extended/legacy where storm is played.
I do agree that they are making WAY to many mythics that shouldn't be. Mythics need to be fun, high mana, high powered spells in my opinion, Eternity Preserver being a perfect fit. The new lackey and this counterspell both need to be re-thunk.
The third, the fourth and so one man... You can even counter the sixth spell if better...
The card say: If 3 or more were played
Try it you will see that it is not as good as you think... Most decks dont go off in one turn anymore, except storm, vintage is not like the academy days, people are not casting 3 - 6 spells in one turn in a typical situation, although it can happen. It is the steady control that wins, and simple two card combos (Time Vault/Voltaic) or (Painter/Grind)...
So help me out with this. I'm a little slow. If my opponent plays 3 creature spells on his turn, will this spell exile the creatures that have already resolved or just the 3rd one that is still on the stack?
For i think this is strictly better then Force of Will. !#%!^!$^!$^$!#$!#$#.
Force of Will is a turn 0 counter spell. This is only turn 0 against Storm combo decks and basically any Vintage deck. Force is strictly better than this card even though I do think this is a very good card.

Just the third one. Your opponent can play around this spell and make sure his first two resolve, the point is it's relevant against storm copies. Oh and it counters banefire.

So true. For Standard I think 90% of the time you'll be better off with Double Negative. Unless this set has something like Storm where there will be multiple spells on the stack at a time, this card seem pretty. I suppose being able to counter a late turn Twincasted Time Warp will be nice, but how often does a player have multiple spells on the stack before passing priority in Type 2?

Keep in mind that Double Negative can't "counter" uncounterable spells.
I hope that this doesn't cause a fuss amongst new players that still don't get it. I'd love to see more spells printed like this. Take THAT extended/legacy TEPS!

I think one thing this spell will do is keep Cascade decks from building too much potential cascade-into-cascade in their decks.
I don't think you'll see lists like recent 5C lists that have BitBlast/DenyReality into Bloodbraid/KathariRemnant into a 3-mana spell... lists will probably stick to either all 4-cost OR all 5-cost cascade spells, rather than have the potential to be blown out by the free counterspell for cascading too much.
Especially if there's anything in this block that enables cascading to be a bit more reliable (top-of-deck tutors or the like), this is a good built-in in answer in the format if Super-Cascade.dec would become popular.
This also hoses multiple cascade cards. Bit Blast into BB Elf into Putrid Leech = haha I counter them all.
Yes it does. Actually, that would start with Enlisted Wurm into Bit Blast. However, I don't believe that 5C Cascade will see too much play in Standard after ZEN, depending on the lands we get.

Keep in mind that Double Negative can't "counter" uncounterable spells.
Double Negative is a 1 or (usually) 2 for 1 for three mana.
This is a trade for 4 mana.
Banefire is the only reasonable target for this, and Swerve is still a better choice usually.
It also reads; Lower the price of great sable stag since it is not countering the spell, rather removing it from the game. Also does the same for banefire and their X=5 ilk.
Control has 4 mana on turn 3?

Why on earth does anybody care about "getting a Mythic"? Is the rarity of a card that important? I have never ever opened a booster in anticipation of getting a Mythic rare.
Largely because things like Maelstrom Pulse and rare land, i.e. inherently awesome, playable cards, are NOT Mythic rare.
I'm not entirely sure I'm even making my point well, here, but it's really silly to have any more emotional investment in cracking Mythic rares than in cracking normal rares.
The point you were making before seemed to imply that this card is a Mythic Rare due to some emotional investment on Timmy's part, but I could just be misunderstanding you.
Play = cast. They can be countered any way I didn't say: if resolve two spells resolve
In the end control is losing cryptic, aka counter/draw. In my mind this will people them re-think the deck. Aggro has way better top-decking skills then control. They can counter all you have but once their hand size drops you have a winning chance. 5CC only plays like 7 (may be wrong) counter spells, it sounds like you think they play 15.
This Mindbreak Trap in FOIL will break $100 at the prerelease I'm guessing. Eternal players absolutely adore obscenely expensive cards - it shows off how "big" their penises are. They also go completely bananas when a card that's obviously good in their format sees print. It even screws over Mox, Mox, Business or Mox, Ritual, Business on the first turn 1.
And above poster, you are barging into a ridiculous fantasy. Why would anybody play birds that late? Spellstutter Sprite is rotating out? If he plays 3 cards of 5 lands in one turn then what the hell was your opponent doing until then?
For i think this is strictly better then Force of Will. !#%!^!$^!$^$!#$!#$#.
storm just got so much worse in legacy and Vintage
