Beautiful art. As much as I love a lot of the old artwork for Magic cards, the fact that today it seems the art has a much consistent theme and style to it is pleasing.
Nothing in this game is degenerate or completely dominant. They haven't banned anything in standard in a long, long time. Hell they should have banned affinity right away, but they didn't until boxed sales collapsed too. Hasbro had to come in and fire people.
I'll enjoy watching all the whiners eat crow monday.
Lotus Growth - 0
Enchantment - Aura
Enchant [Basic?] Land
When enchanted land is tapped for mana, sacrafice it. If you do, put 2 mana of the color produced into your mana pool.
Is 3 mana on turn one too much? I think it is, but it does fit the flavor of lotuses well. It does seem that the lotus is very, very large, powerful, and possibly even enveloping the land around it.
Well, in a similar, not-at-all-broken vein, how about:
Lotus Growth 2G
Enchantment -Aura
Enchant Land
Enchanted land has "T: Add three mana of any one colour to your mana pool."
So it's sort of like a cheaper, card-disadvantaging Gilded Lotus. Still nuts with Garruk, though.
My thoughts were along these lines:
-You should be able to play your lotus on turn one.
-It should accelerate your mana explosively.
-Hierarch/Birds shows us what is acceptable in terms of disadvantage-less t1 acceleration.
-4 Mana on turn 2 means Garruk, and brokenness.
-Needs a drawback that makes turn-one lotus acceptable, but late game a desperate measure.
Maybe an enchantment is the wrong idea...
Lotus Explosion - 1
Sorcery
As an additional cost to play Lotus Explosion, sacrifice all lands you control.
Add 3 mana of any one color to your mana pool.
Lotus Vale AND Baron Sengir are on the reserve list, and will never be reprinted again.
Also, every NEW card in M10 will get new art, (obviously) but every reprinted card will NOT.
These are MUCH more likely brand new cards, rather than reprints. Please keep that in mind.
That said, I like the arts, and the one with the 'lotus' is very intriguing.

Are you trying to say that NOT every reprint will have new art or that EVERY reprint will not have new art? If its the latter, where was that announced?

Not every reprint is getting new art.
We know this already from BoP and Jace, and know that some will get new art from Black Knight.

Sad to see goth style hasn't changed in 20 years...
But it's nice to see Swanland get more work. I even wrote to Wizards when I was in college so long ago that I felt Swanland was underused and his ability to portray dynamic environments (wind/light/sprays of earth-blood-sweat etc...) would be really cool. Though yes, his subjects are a little stiff.
Now for cards:
Angel getting hit - Some kind of new Drain Life/Black colored direct damage X spell? Or do you think this is red?
The woman holding the sword in front of the squad - A new benalish hero? No banding I suppose but definitely a soldier of some sort. Hopefully with the sword in front means first strike. Though I'd prefer a combat trick like intrepid hero or defiant vanguard.
The Vamp - Would love to see a new vamp. Sengir Nosferatu was awesome (casually) and would love to see a new design. But it's not flying in the art...so there could be something missing from it (cause I know that art direction is trying to make sure flyers look flying).
Big old Lotus landscape - Wow?! What could it be if now lotus vale...Feels too organic to be an artifact. I do think something like Heartbeat of Spring isn't out of the question here.
Heres hoping they just print good cards (no more unplayable cards like diabolic tutor and wasted card slots)... I actually think the lotus one would either be one of the following:
The first looks like Dark Banishing to me. If the lotus isn't a new card, it seems to me that it will be Lotus Vale. The third, I dunno. The last does indeed look like Reinforcements
The first art is very reminiscent of Expunge, one of my favorite card pics.
I'm not sure Expunge is old-school iconic enough to warrant a reprint that has such throwback art, although it would make a great addition to the core set.

Would be a nice card to get back, too.
If the third art is Goblin King, there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth, because that would be a waste.
Also, 165 people on one thread.

1. Regrowth

The first could be something like dark banishing.
