At 16:45 we see a Basic Island with M10 art... doesn't look like anything I've seen before! Correct me if I'm wrong, but either way it's nice to see something!
Anyone there (like MisterOrange) that can give us some insight?
Two thoughts:
1) Original art: something we haven't really seen for Core Set basics in a long time. Nice touch for the next big change in MtG.
2) Pre-printed art: we'll see these arts on Zendikar basic lands.
I totally missed that as well. I'm looking forward to finding me a set of these.
@ Xcric: I love to use the Mirage lands as well. I think the Islands are absolutely gorgeous.

I like the art on this island. It would be nice to see it bigger though. The concept of having new art in a core set isnt that strange. Other cards get new art for core sets, look at 7th edition. Why not the lands?
Media is not making me steal. But in a way is like the story of the very hot girl with the short skirt teasing the old sick guy with a history of rape.
The artwork looks great! I wonder how he got that island..
My guess is that Evan was lurking by the WOTC gunslingers who we were told had new cards in their decks, much like how were heard about Chameleon Colossus first. It would only make sense that they would do something sneaky like having all basics from the next set to see if anyone noticed.
looks nice, i will still keep using the Urza's Saga Islands, those with a storm
well, this are the lands i like the most:
i love all those artworks as well, they are so classic to me.
i really hope we do go back to the fantasy lands. thats what i grew up on man! ravnicas lands really bummed me out, the only ones that even seemed viable to me were the swamps lol. and i feel they could have made the wanderwine river in lorwyn be wider so there could be actual islands lol

I did some gunslinging at the Seattle GP. One of them was playing W/U with all lands from M10. The one pictured at the start of the thread is one of them. They were all awsome!:D Hands down some of the best plains art I have ever seen. And all were fantasy style art, i.e. no buildings or bridges or any of that nonsense. I wish I had been thinking, I could have taken some pics with my phone or something. Oh well.

I have been playing Magic since 1994. I will NEVER use the terms 'battlefield', 'cast' or 'exile'. They will always be 'in play', 'play' and 'remove from game' to me. If you don't like it, too bad.

Yesss, Urza's! Making my decks in MWS always takes a ton longer because I have to hunt down the stormy Island picture and the great Mountain and the weird warty Forest (kind of...). Love the Swamp, and the weird floating Plains.... oh man, I was hoping someone else loved the Urza lands.
It's funny, though, because the ones in the new frame (from 10E) look terrible to me.
I don't mind reprints, but new ones are better of course.
They will likely bring back classic flavor, no buildings in forests, sunny swamps, or Dark Plains. Or rivers for islands.

i use the old ones because they have the T: Add X mana to your mana pool.
Mirage Plains rocked. I am particularly fond of the one with the tree against the sky.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
This actually should of been obvious to us... with M10 going back to "generic fantasy", the specific variations of basic lands many settings have thrown at us are completely inappropriate. So whether older art or completely new (very probable with all the other new cards/art), we should get plains that actually look like plains and so forth.

same here
They really do need to make another unset so we can get full art lands again.
I would rather however have full art lands be standard in core sets. Definitely bumps up the fantasyness of it imo.
I had a set of foils to use for drafting, but somehow lost them...
my absolute favorites. any time i need basic lands the mirage ones get used first. especially the swamps.

That was much better than just the symbol
Agreed. Mirage had a level of basic land art that has not been surpassed (save the forests, which were meh).
