I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this, but i think that post are pretty good.
Being that you can almost treat them as lands
t1 - play land put a post into play
t2 - replay same land, put a diff post in to play and play a 1 drop or something.
t3 - replay same land and your at 3 mana on a 1 lander esentially
White doesn't need any more power and this card hit black. BW won't be getting one and rightfully so.
Not sure what that has to do with anything, other than the half opportunity to make a distasteful post. Besides, there's no such thing as too much power for white. :>
...
The borderposts met their expectations nicely I think.
I don't want to say it so early with only 30 cards previewed but this set is looking like one of the most broken sets in a very long time. We have cards like this new vindicate, and cards like the new and to me better Extranial extraction. We also might get Meddling Mage in. So right now I am thinking that this set is really looking good and really really broken.Even the mythics are good.
Maelstrom Pulse- definitely going to be a chase rare for the set, in GB it's an echoing vindicate which only suffers from not being able to hit lands, it can take care of token hoards regardless of the size and type of token, kill of multiples of annoying creatures, enchantments or artifacts and kill of planeswalkers(only 1 of but it's still brilliant). It's Oblivion Ring but without the drawback of people being able to destroy it and get back their permanent later and with the bonus of killing multiples. I can't stress how much I like this card.
Posts- these are okay, you can either play them as a weaker Drake Shell Cameo or if you don't have a land drop you can always tap and bounce a land to play this and then replay the land you bounced(effectively using the post as your land drop for the turn(one which hurts your development in the same way as Rupture Spire), and even if you have a land drop for the turn the ability to swap a basic land for a invasion style dual land is not a bad deal in the mid game after you've got your mana development going.
Will this card make token based decks alot worse? The ability to nuke half of your opponents field seems like it could really hurt these types of decks.
The borderposts have their place. They'll be vital in the pre-release and launch party events where there's no Conflux for mana fixing (yes, panoramas, tri-lands, obelisks, i know). They also tie in well with Zendikar, a baby step towards breaking people away from their 5C worlds with rainbow lands, getting back to basics, so to speak.
I don't know why people are complaining about the Borderposts... how many amazing 1 drops are there in Shards block? These will definitely see play and I think in the right type of deck (Esper artifact) these could really take off...
Think of these with Tezzeret, Etherium Sculptor (which apparently lets you play these for free) and Time Sieve? It could be kinda bananas...
...so yes, I think enemy colors are being represented PRETTY WELL. Maelstrom Pulse is probably my favorite card ever printed now. Time to edit the profile once this is officially spoiled...
If it weren't for all the artfact removal then the borderposts would be good for Esper, also they switch on the Jund Hackblade cycle (first turn borderpost second turn Jund Hackblade, but mostly useful in Limited, The pulse is going to be nuts, no-one will play too many o-rings with this floating around and might cause less four-ofs and more Rogue decks which would be great.
I don't see what the problem with the posts are. They seem good in limited, obviously not chase cards, but decent. and unlike the obelisks, you can get them out even if stalled on 1-2 lands.
As for Maelstrom Pulse... it's amazing. Would've been much happier with it at uncommon though, as it will indeed be a chase rare.

Quote from Fry, from Futurama »
It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for the winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came and the grasshopper died and the octopus ate all his acorns. And also he got a racecar. Is any of this getting through to you?
Him: "Bitterblossom"
Me: "Ugh, k", land, go
Him: "2nd Bitterblossom, response?"
Me: "Goddammit! Fine, resolves". Rips Maelstrom off the top. "Oh snap! My $15 card took out 2 of your $15 cards!"
That's going to be someone's savage beats story coming up this season. Anything that lets me kill my opponent's 3rd turn 2nd Bitterblossom is great in my book.

Honestly, the why do the post CIPT when payed normally? They become at least playable beyond turn 1 if they only CIPT if the alternate cost is payed. Templating might be a bit off then, but at least they wouldn't be a dead card half the time in limited.
The borderposts were made with the sole objective of helping limited; they clearly aren't meant for constructed play. Even so, they disappoint me.
They disrupt your tempo more than the ravnica bouncelands, without giving you card advantage in return. They're equally disruptive to your development as Rupture Spire, but don't fix your mana. You would never want one of these over a Signet, unless you're stuck on one land. Perhaps they're most comparable to the Invasion/Coldsnap CIPT lands, except that you pay an extra mana the turn you play them and you can't play them as your only land. Bad all around.
The Maelstrom Pulse is great, of course, but I think it's worse than Vindicate overall. The ability to hit lands is more often relevant than the ability to hit multiple copies of a permanent.

In that situation it seems counter intuitive as Maelstrom Pulse + a little bit of other damage from your G/B creatures would race 2x Bitterblossom nicely.
Almost as bad as relying on BoP in a 1 land hand.

Machius proudly supports R_E's right to Rumour!
Although I was hoping for something like this in the Esper spectrum, but
needs a solution, for planeswalkers.
the obelisks are not very good however, despite their awesome artwork.
Makes Master of Etherium and other artifact friendly cards hot.

If your answer is "Yes," then please, please reconsider.
P2 T1: land, hierarch
P1 T2: Basic land, tap boderpost
P2 T2: land, maelstrom pulse your posts! Bam! 40 bucks in your face!
I can't wait to poop this!
One of the few elegantly powerful things that R&D got right in the past few years, Dimir Aqueduct and their ilk, they mess up with this?

Cool card though.
Totally amazing card, and fits very nicely into a mindrange rock deck.
Will it be a chase rare?
