According to this article, at least one of the following seven cards is in M10, and will feature art that is new except for also appearing in DvD. The cards, and artists responsible for the new art, are:
Note: The same article also says that all and only these cards will be given new art for DvD, and reveals the new art for most of them. So it's also a bit of a reveal for DvD, but I thought people would be more interested in the M10 aspect.
My own speculation (which I wanted to keep out of the first post): I think we can rule out Demonic Tutor for power level and Stinkweed Imp for having Dredge. The least surprising would be Lord, It's A Pity; I'd be very disappointed if that were the only card from this list to make it.
Personally I would like it best if it were Faith's Fetters, assuming only one card.
I would have to say duress because the new art features an elf which is completely out of place in DvD. Although, as long as it's not lord of the pit I'll be happy.
or dinosaur pirates!!! big hulking dinos with eye patches and peglegs and troll the ocean on their ships made of smaller dinosaur bones in search or treasures. I would sooo go for that. or better yet, slave dinosaurs that serve the pirates like some sick dinotopia world where people own the dinos.

I agree. Any new art would have been commissioned specifically for the DD, and they wouldn't have let the artist put an elf on the card if it was meant for AvD. Duress in M10 is confirmed IMO.
Duress makes the most sense too me. It's not like it hasn't seen core set play before, you know? And the fact that it has incongrous art seals it for me.
As for Thoughtseize, it's really only relevant for a month in standard, and it rotates shen the set after M10 comes out (Is that Zendikar? I forget).
I don't think it will be faiths because it said they took it from m10 and faiths has a picture specifically for DvD so my bets on Duress or Pit.. I hope for Duress but probably gonna be pit.
Its probably going to be Lord of the Pit... why else would they promote him to Mythic? Also he would look great on a booster and promotional stuff. In addition he is a favorite amongst timmies, is iconic, and the new Flavor text seems to fit the idea of trying to make players feel like walkers again.
Duress is powerful... but for some odd reason I have a feeling thoughtseize may in fact be in M10. Not sure why... just have that feeling. In addition i really don't think the elf in the art is any sort of smoking gun... Yeah its a bit out of place... but some cards in the decks feel out of place anyway.
As to fetters... we have O-Ring right now in TWO expansions... Fetters is an awesome card but O-Ring serves a similar purpose and both can handle walkers.
I agree. Any new art would have been commissioned specifically for the DD, and they wouldn't have let the artist put an elf on the card if it was meant for AvD. Duress in M10 is confirmed IMO.
Perhaps it was some sort of rejected art from the SHM block that they decided would fit onto Duress well? The style fits Shadowmoor perfectly.
I would say Akroma, because they updated her rarity. Why if she would be rotating out?
You could say the same exact thing for the Lord of the Pit though... and in fact Akroma has already rotated where the lord would only be rotating as M10 came in.
So few people think akroma, why? In the article it also says "MOST POPULAR LEGEND" only not in caps. My bets on her.
I see where you're coming from Magus but my logic is as follows:
M10 is the first of the "new" style of core sets.
new core sets are intended to be more popular among new players than current core sets are.
Akroma is popular
Lord of the pit has been in several previous core sets.
Core sets are changing
_______________
Akroma has a good chance of being in the core set due to the first three premises
Lord of the pit is fairly unpopular due to the second, fourth and fifth premises
Due to the above conclusion and premise two lord of the pit is less likely to be reprinted than akroma.
the Faith's Fetters art is very obviously made for DvD. The Duress art is completely out of sync with the rest of the deck and is the obvious choice of M10 reprint.
However, there is no reason Faith's Fetters won't also be reprinted; it would be a great card to use against planeswalkers.
C'mon...duress in standard and extended again PLEASE it will raise the value sure but if duress is in M10 do you think it will be uncommon? I think it deserves that spot but it may be one of those staple commons like terror, faith's fetters, o-ring, etc. etc. Great for limited anyways

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
I actually think Demonic Tutor might really be it. Sure, it's crazy powerful, but would it honestly do anything that terrible to standard? It would get banned in extended, most likely, but it doesn't really seem like Wizards takes it as hard when they have to banhammer something in older formats.
Faith's fetters is a wordier/more complex version of O-Ring which we've had in two straight expansions now. Why on earth would they reprint it now?
There's 4 black and 3 white arts, so it has to be a black card as the "extra." That leaves LotP or Duress, and I'm with the latter due to the not-fitting art.
That is a sick Duress art and I would love it reprinted in M10.
From what the article said, I think it's a safe bet the Duress art was a port from M10. It doesn't fit the other alt. arts. Faith's Fetters is clearly made for DvD. And Akroma was probably the first angel they threw into the deck, so the art must have been commissioned in advance of M10 (assuming they were working on this before M10). Duress makes the most sense.
Remember, it isn't "only one of these will be in M10" but rather "one of these cards is using the already made M10 art". So everyone of these cards could be put in.
My bet is on Duress being the M10 art though, as it doesn't seem made for the duel decks.

Second. Actually, from reading the other posts, it's something like 3rd or 4th
