[CON] Child of Alara (image post #133)

  • #1
Well, it's about that time for team Zesty to pack up and hibernate until AlaraReborn comes around. We've had some great posts, and a few misses here and there. So, now that wizards takes over the mantle tomorrow I will reveal the final card from my team. Thanks for all the PMs and for those I haven't answered yet, I will get to you..... our team gets around 50 a day and we will work hard to get the questions answered.

This card to me, is the card that I personally feel is the best and most playable addition to two writers from StarCityGames favorite deck. And hopefully.... he will become an important tool in a possible new style reanimator deck.

First off... like always,... the puzzle. Not a hard one, because I know there are "many" that hate the puzzles.

Clues....... This Legendary domain BABY is truly going to be a force in the land of ALARA.

With his mighty Akroma sized P/T and the super useful trample ability.... this baby has a mighty DISK-like ability if he goes to the graveyard from play.

oh yeah,.... and he also can put those pesky regenerators in their place when he goes "BOOM"

And yeah..... he can even beat up nicol bolas if he wanted to.

Enjoy, and will see you soon!

    Zesty;)

PS: Look for our articles in 2009!!!!

    EDITED:

Cool, I guessed it first, somehow. Not a hard one, but...

Anyway, wow, reanimator is right. Talk about an awesome mannequin target. That ability alone qualifies it for play in reanimator of all kinds, in nearly every format, I'd think. Even 5cc will play this thing, I think. This is the kind of thing you SHOULD get for one of each color - not Scion of the Ur-Dragon

Since he can "take on Bolas", it should be destroying non-land permanents. That is how disk would be worded if it was created today anyway.

I think it's something like that.

Edit: I just got sextuple Sarnath'd. That's extremely impressive.

Super-trample would take on Bolas, too, but I might be reading too much into his words. But it might be non-land, yeah. I thought it meant Nicol Bolas at first.

Thanks to [Æther] for sig and avatar

This card is not going to be cheap ($-wise).

The card has been edited to the 1st post, so we should stop the guessing. Not bad. Finally a 5-color creature that I wouldn't mind playing. Amazing ability. Should find itself in most reanimator strategies.

I can't tell if this is good. WUBRG is annoying to cast. Definitely good with Mannequin, though.

    Probably.

I REALLY want to see the picture to this now!

EDIT: according to number crunch, yes, it is.

    Holy -Eff.

This card is 5cc's new bomb (literally) And planeswalker decks are going to be very sad. =

It's understandable blue control players would be shocked and in denial at the notion of this card, since their decks have been dominating multiple formats for an eternity yet they've curiously never once had to deal with any counter-hosers that weren't ineffectual, narrow CRAP.

Hey man, Blurred Mongoose took the world by storm.

This card is going to be a bomb and I think it will fit well in 5cc. It is really good with Makeshift Mannquin because then they can not remove it with anything unless they want everything to go to the yard (lands not included).
  • #20
It loves to eat Bitterblossom also....I just want it mentioned in Chapin's article this week.

SuperBaby should be strong in 5CC. Chapin should be happy.

Zesty234 I just want to know if you could help us out with the Thornling scan like if its real.
  • #23
    Very good card.
Even if it costs 5 it can be used with mannequin ( so you are not afraid of rfging removal Smile ) .
  • #24
it is so nice to see a card in Conflux that is exciting for both competitive and casual players, good work this rumor season Zesty

Way to go for pushing up the levels of 5 Colour Control...

This is pretty fantastic but Path to Exile and Unmake get around it nicely. BUW Faeries has never looked so good before.

    Oh-my-freaking-gawd!!!

Say hello to your first (second) $30-something Mythic Rare! This thing is unbelievably good in 5cc and Makeshift Mannequin decks; think Archon of Justice, only when he goes down he takes the whole freaking board with him! You heard right: Bitterblossom and Ajani Vengeant along with every token, artifact, non-enchantment creature... you name it!

There are only two things going on with this card that I don't like: first, it's downright useless outside of 5cc, Reanimator and (maybe) Dramatic Entrance.dec. Second, it's not all that good as defense against fliers. Path to Exile could possibly become mishap #3, but then again the whole point of something like this is to be Mannequined at the end of your opponent's turn.

Child of Alara is likely to single-handedly revive the old-style Archon Toast 5cc decks. This is one metagame-changing Mythic Rare to be sure...
People hiss and grunt at Mark Rosewater for the state of the game. Few realize, though, that it is Aaron Forsythe who is directly responsible of the current state of affairs due to negligence as head of Magic R&D and a completely skewed view of the game as a whole.

So next time you want to make an avvy with Rosewater pissing on something, take a deep breath and consider pasting Forsythe's face there instead...

I don't see actual cards, I just get info from random places... I don't know how these people are getting "real" cards. But in the end, it seems like its probably accurate. Sorry peeps who think the art is "BUSTED"

    Zesty;)

I forgot about Dramatic Entrance! That's another card they can cheat into play. Overlord, Progenitus, and now Child of Alara! Dramatic Entrance/Mannequin.dec
