A 1/2 creature for G is rare but hardly unprecedented. Magus of the Candelabra is the most recent example. So the question is, does the Archer's ability really put it that much over the top? I'm thinking no. And although the rarity is a surprise, that will mostly affect limited where's its ability is less useful than in constructed.
the rarity is the big question, actually. at rare, magus had three total power toughness and an activated ability.
at common, the only other cards i knew that had 3 combined power-toughness for 1 mana are: devoted hero, woodland druid, and rime dryad, with rime dryad being the only non vanilla critter at the same time, being 15 years old.
so at common, this is definitely a push in the power curve
hey i have managed to evolve my axolotls by feeding them thyroid glands the thyroxine contained in these gland is enough to change these water dwelling creatures into land based creatures

Tay, that's not evolution. It's metamorphosis. Evolution means descent with heritable modification – individuals cannot evolve, unless they're Pokemon.

That 1/2 for 1 is going to be great in Constructed, not just a BB hoser, but kills Sprites and V. Clique. Any deck that runs green should be boarding it in for Faeries as it's the majority of the field in extended at least.
*Looks at Elf-Ball deck* Boys, you just got a cheap potential friend here.
The bird *shurgs* Flying Akrasan squire for 1 more, it will be a good pick in limited, but since I haven't even used Akrasan Squire in my Bant decks, I doubt I would use this, except maybe in a solider deck. White can use cheap fliers.

Decks
Commander
Ezuri, Renegade Leader (Aggro/Combo - Favorite) Skullbriar, the Walking Grave (Sac and Grave hijinks) Azusa, Lost but Seeking (Landfall hijinks) Kaalia of the Vast (Heavily modded)
This is why I'm so amazed at the comments here. It seems like this whole Faeries deck has become such a personal issue, seeing the amount of hate present. Because now even after getting ANOTHER obvious hoser, someone says that they only need one more card? Seriously? Wtf.
It's laughable. And a little pathetic.
Faeries aren't even that good in standard right now. Instead of worrying about Faeries, and packing crappy green SB cards (seriously- if you are playing mono green, you deserve to lose), you should be worrying about the ridiculously powerful decks that are: BW Tokens, 5CC, and RDW. All of these decks are absolutely bomby after Conflux hits, and Faeries grows even weaker.
But yeah, you keep celebrating these cards, that actually have little to no effect on what's important.
Neat, I guess. I disagree with Masamune, three colors now have a splashable answer to Faeries. Volcanic Fallout and Celestial Purge are definitely better, but it's still worth noting that GB Rock, GB Quillspike, Elfball, etc all get a boost against Fae (regardless of how good these archetypes currently are).

No kidding. I am so excited to try this little guy out in my Elfball deck. The fact that he only costs 1 means he'll help with the mana generation on top of killing stuff. People seem to have forgotten that a t1 BoP is pretty common and this makes for some tough times there.
I like how WotC actually noted that the #1 deck that would run this is G/B Elves which also usually runs 3+ copies of Bitterblossom itself. Hopefully this makes sure G/B Elves doesn't get too ridiculous. Either way, very very solid card even if it's susceptible to lots of removal (much like many other amzing creatures ^^). I really don't want to hear any complaining from Fae since not only do they have plenty of ways to deal with this (Agony Warp, Terror, Infest) but they have Spellstutter Sprite with nothing else on the board for this guy as well.
Well its not like elfball needs this to beat faeries, I mean its already got stuff like cloudthresher, eyes of the wisent , raking canopy to deal with them..but a 1 drop 1/2 elf that can threaten a 3rd turn spectral procession from being played sounds Very good to me..this will find its way into some sideboards at least. ..die thopter token..DIE...
Fae players better splash white for the new non-combat damage prevention thingy..and some forge tenders while you're at it

Don't hate me cuz I dislike fae.
I'll lose to other things any day.
As people play clique,
Their smile makes me sick,
Thank God Scattershot joins the fray.
I grew up on the old draw-go blue
Playing green I knew not what to do.
The arcane denials,
And those silly old smiles,
But with Conflux there's no Morphling for you.
It's recognized fae is by far best,
Don't dismiss Scattershot Archers in jest
His work shall be done
When Magic is fun--
the fae has been killed by behest.
What's next ? Counterspells ? Mass removal of creatures (Because it had Tranquility) ? Better Targeted removal ? (Better than the one used by white nowadays)
by the way, i do think that faeries is the best deck. remember worlds? where were those RDWs and BW Tokens?
RW Vengeant Lark (not RDW aka Red Deck Wins, but R-W) and BW Tokens decks were among the decks at the top tables of the Standard portion. But at the end of the tournament, the top 8 was decided based on total match wins over 6 rounds of Standard, 6 rounds of Extended, and 6 rounds of Draft. The best Standard players and the top 8 players didn't really have much overlap.
Scattershot archer: An effcient 1/2 that nukes every x/1 flyer in play. That's cool. good vs. bitterblossom, spectral procession.
Power: -A, coolness: C
Aven Squire: A very good limited card that could see standard play if an exalted standard deck becomes viable. But I miss the days of lionin skyhunter.
Power: C+ Coolness: C+

Now we just need another powerful Faerie hoser.
That's an elf?
And kills all 1 toughness fliers with a mere tap?

Has "chase common" been coined yet?

Green could beat black (Chameleon Colossus), now can deal with Bitterblossom too without using Naturalize, even a turn before it starts producing tokens
Has the best Mana Acceleration engine (Llanowar Elves, Birds of Paradise, now Noble Hierarch)
Even has new card drawing engine (Harmonize, and now Soul's Majesty) and efficient creatures (Wren's Run Vanquisher, Chameleon Colossus, now Thornling and Cliffrunner Behemoth)
What's next ? Counterspells ? Mass removal of creatures (Because it had Tranquility) ? Better Targeted removal ? (Better than the one used by white nowadays)
By the way...
LOL
Good one, it made me laugh a lot
Who is so much in loove with Green at Wizards of the Coast ? Maybe Mark Rosewater because he has his own card ?
Even If You Cannot See It
Sengir, The Half-Vampire Paladin
Link BattleKnight
Link Bitefight
Return to Ulgrotha (My Expansion)
Scattershot Archer: A+. Definetly lots of Faerie hosers in this set. This one is probably the best.
1. Baneslayer Angel 2. Birds of Paradise 3. Lightning Bolt 4. Honor of the Pure 5. Goblin Chieftain
My top 5 Zendikar cards:
1. Eternity Vessel 2. Chandra Ablaze 3. Beastmaster Ascension 4. Ob Nixilis, the Fallen 5. Rampaging Baloths

Fantastic. Make them go three color. Make them mess up the mana base. You don't 'just' go three colors.
yeah, i am sure ppl will activate stillmoon's flying ability in response to archer.
The archer is almost never a bad thing.
And I was hoping for a cheap, flying, white, exalted creature for my mono-white bant deck!
Hooray for good... commons? WOW!
Nope. Stillmoon won't fly as long as Scattershot Archer is untapped (and doesn't have summoning sickness).
