Scattershot archer is the weapon people were waiting for against faeries. Comes down turn 1, evading countermagic, and reusable ad nauseam. The other is limited fodder.
That Archer is a very pushed common. First, it is a 1/2 for 1 with a relevant creature type. And second, it has an ability usually reserved for uncommon cards. I am gaga for it.
Yeah, Fae are dead. Infraction for censor evasion 1/2 one drop that owns the skies? Cmon. This has to be uncommon (borderline rare considering the current standard) even for 2cmc this is too good. I figured the archers would be another Fae hoser. The way they're releasing hosers, you'd think every single deck winning deck was a one-trick pony.
It's understandable blue control players would be shocked and in denial at the notion of this card, since their decks have been dominating multiple formats for an eternity yet they've curiously never once had to deal with any counter-hosers that weren't ineffectual, narrow CRAP.
The bird, mehhhh, at least a mid pack grab for drafts.
But the archer, ohhh la la. Everyone's said it befor me, a BB hoser, but also great in groups. More than one can bring down any group-o-fliers. Add something classic, like gravity sphere and now you have ground-pounders w/ a 1 toughness fleeing.
Meh, the Aven Squire isn't that Great, it wont obsolete Akrasan Squire- its a one drop, this is two. The archers HAVE to be 1G or 2G, but im pretty sure this is going to be the function of one of the Conflux cards, much more sensible be it this. Still waiting on a source.

And here I was thinking we wouldn't get anything today. I like both cards, especially the archer. Aven Squire is a good limited pick, early fliers are nice and the exalted lets him swing for 2. I'm now dreaming of a mono or nearly mono white exalted weenie deck with him, Akrasan Squire, and Sigiled Paladin.
Scattershot Archer is an amazing 1-drop, against faeries or not. Completely hoses BB tokens as well as Spectral Procession and any other small fliers. And the 2 toughness is nice. B/W tokens watch out!

At common I love these 2 little guys. Straight and to the point.
I think the P/T is fair on the elf. We do have precedence for this anyhow and OMG an archer that can actually do its job for once. Personally I can't grasp why lys alana bowmaster doesn't see more T2 play if faeries are so dominant as people say.

BRO FIST - if you don't sig this you are not a bro.
Brooooooooken. We're not talking Bitterblossom kind of broken, we're not talking Tarmogoyf kind of broken, we're talking Black Lotus kind of broken.
Not.
But it seems solid.
anyways, these are two great cards. The Squire is sweet and the Archer i find to be very fun indeed.

o_O
Sources?
The archer is interesting. DIE BITTERBLOSSOM TOKENS DIE!
Edit:
I'll second that please.

A great card, in general, two thumbs up.
Even if all it does is makes the faerie player adjust their game plan a bit, he's done a great job. Very sweet for such a small creature!

G for 1/2 Elf is already decent. Add in a pretty relevant ability in today's meta to boost.
Seriously?
How does it obsolete it? It costs 1W
Also, The Captains don't do fake stuff.
*stands on a desk* OH CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN!
Bad call and from a Mod:no:

Evidently not everyone is up on their history. We haven't seen you since Eventide, after all.
For those who doubt the Cap't... he's in the Hero list (sort of, part of the M Team), and you can view his post history as well.
