Maybe the English one is a incorrect mock up they never make minor mods to the art like that. Unless you go back to the whole Chinese and zombie censorship crap.
I will be amazed if the English one is actually different then the others when they are in card form.
Ok, so we have Nicol Bolas and a drop of his blood. Yeah, he doesn't even need to come down and kick your ass. You get your ass kicked by one drop of his blood. That sort of reminds me of Rakdos's shadow, Avatar of Discord. Even if the Ooze doesn't see much play, it'll be cool from a flavor prospective, anyway.
Now, the big, guy, Nicol Bolas is obviously awesome. It's certainly great to finally see him make an appearance. I have a feeling, I'll be seeing a lot of this guy at the EDH table. Any decent, repeatable effect is good, but noncreature permanents are even more important when there are bound to be decks packing some artifact/enchantment that's annoying as hell or is part of some combo. He even gives some decks without green/white access to kill an enchantment at all. His ultimate is pretty lackluster outside of 1 on 1, but his other 2 abilities are what will rock in multiplayer, where he'll see a ton of play even if just as a sniper rifle to blast every annoyance that comes into play.
I think the ooze is vieing for the 2 drop spot in RDW, it goes well with any of the following:
T1, Mogg
OR
T1 Figure
OR
T1 Tattermunge Maniac (yeah people don't really play him anymore but with ooze...)
T2 Ooze, possibly pump figure or possibly shock/magma spray something.
T3 Gouger
OR
T3 Ram Gang (I at least have seen some decks run both of these)
And T5 you ideally have a Demigod.
Maybe I'm crazy but it could fill the slot I think. Your opponent HAS to deal with it, or at least he will think he does.
Also, originally I was hoping that the next mimic deck that was playable in standard would be esper mimic, hard control with beatign face with the mimic. However that's not going to happen in this set I think, however between this guy, jund charm, the BG mimic and thrinax perhaps a jund mimic deck is possible... the ooze sure likes it.
its not great, it's no tarmogoyf. but a fun card for sure, and potentially very valuable. Could it possibly have a home in blightning aggro? or g/r mana ramp? definately a card that makes you go 'hmmm'
Ooze is meh. There are much stronger 1 drops in RBG than this guy. Pass.
Nicol Bolas- as unplayable as ever.
Tokens- Angel art blows, the elemental art is pretty cool.
Thoughtseize is similar the card is nothing much when you draw it on turn 4+ its only good first few turns. I guess against control Thoughtseize can be important turn 4+ or if combo can't go off for some reason.
Anyways Jackal Pup is a similar card horrible late game topdecking a jackal pup on turn 5 is almost as bad as a land.
I don't think Jund Ramp is running FoD (I could be wrong) so Bloodhall Ooze is a perfect 1 drop...
I have a feeling the English Bolas is just a mistake and he will be looking just like he does in France and Japan.
Looking at the Angel token, I think it originally was part of the Sigil of the Empty Throne card and they ended up cropping them into 2 different cards... the Elemental token art is wickedly evil looking; almost hellish.
hey i have managed to evolve my axolotls by feeding them thyroid glands the thyroxine contained in these gland is enough to change these water dwelling creatures into land based creatures

Tay, that's not evolution. It's metamorphosis. Evolution means descent with heritable modification – individuals cannot evolve, unless they're Pokemon.

In a standard where no one uses quirion dryad, how is the inferior ooze going to see play? I am a little amused at how many posters are either ignorant entirely to the fact Jund ramp is a competitive deck, or just to the concept behind the deck. We don't want useless one drops when we have tons of mana out. Not to mention all the good cards in conflux already fitting in the deck makes cornercase cards like this have no place.
This ooze is awful in ramp. In a Jund token deck, it deserves a shot, but otherwise, just a fun little limited card.

I think this belongs in something like Tokens or Rock because of the early threat potential, and even if he only gets 2 counters on him hes worth the 1 mana you spent for it, esp since youre playing cards into him anyway.

Honestly, i like this card, a lot. However, He is vulnerable for two turns to a lot of different little things. it just sits. For at least two turns as a 1/1 (the Turn you played it and the one after.
t1. Mountain, Lay Ooze
t2. Forest/Swamp, Lay Odious trow, Swing with Ooze for 1
t3. Upkeep - Ooze is a 3/3, Lay a land, Swing with Trow and Ooze for 4 (regen Trow if ya need)
t4. Upkeep - Ooze is a 5/5, Land, Play Sprouting Thrinax and Mogg Fanatic ??? Maybe... and swings for 6...
Next Turn swing for 12
Next Turn swing for 14+
Assuming it doesn't get cryptic'd (bounce), PtE, Javelin'd, condemed, Charmed, or the like...
So, if you play Ooze first turn... he sits and waits for two upkeeps to occur before he gets pumped and thats assuming you don't get mana screwed... All that changes if you play him after you've already laid a black and green perminant , however, that will already be too late in the game, might as well drop FoD turn 1 and pump him rather than waiting for Ooze's ability.
On the OTHER hand, Jund Charm does add +1/+1 counters.... so you could have yourself a 5/5 on turn 3... but might as well play smokebraider turn 2 and Fusion Elemental turn 3.... WTF 8/8 t3? GG Scoop

I guess I am too considering usually people tend to only look at new spoiled cards only in the vacuum that is the most currant T2 format's popular decks. the ooze is neato, but truthfully the fact that you don't want to play it turn 1 hurts it's chances as a compatitive staple. At least cards like Goyf and even Manaplasm can be pumped at instant speed. This guy has to wait for you to play something than survive a turn afterwards.
I love the Ooze, definitely a Jund Ramp MD possibility. But, I'm disappointed in the Bolas, that they decided to make the English versions different from all the others just doesn't make sense, especially when it's not as good looking.

I like the ooze but yeah only deck I can see it in is jund tokens...nothing else really.
Urzassedatives is right NO ONE plays quirion dryad. Now that he made me think of the dryad I'll point out some things yes I think it's better because you can pump it up a lot quicker than the ooze and it only costs 1G anyways and can be huge turn 3 if you dropped say Birds turn 1 whereas the ooze is a card that get's at most +2/+2 per turn. Just seem's bad comparatively although the ooze is the best ooze to date just isn't that great of a card

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
In a standard where no one uses quirion dryad, how is the inferior ooze going to see play?
But... Dryad grows at half the speed and costs 1 more. And Dryad did have its day in Miracle Grow. (Not to mention, the standard scene isn't the paragon of experimentation.)
Like the Dreadwing, this is a 1 drop that people will be tempted to use removal on. That is unusual.
Granted, if cards like these do start getting use, people will start running ping in the side. But even that is unusual.
I like the ooze, because it's a set it and forget it. It clearly does not belong in traditional aggro as it isn't fast enough. It does fit quite nicely in Jund tokens, and plays well with other creatures. His lack of evasion shouldn't be too much of a problem.
What other 1 drops are competing for a slot in jund? It's a shame we don't have competitive block season for conflux.
Perhaps next time they create a creature that grows, they should put it in the color of growth. Why is it a red card? I have no idea...
IMO, it seems very powerful at just R. A 1/1 with two good abilities (even though they are identical) would have been playable at 1R even, so its really pushing the curve at R.
Where'd you get those? And why is Wizards shafting us and not them!
I will be amazed if the English one is actually different then the others when they are in card form.
