Soul's Majesty is very nice. It's a Draw-7 with Cloudthresher, and there are plenty of other awesome creature-based decks that can use this in Standard.
In limited, Naya and Jund can usually use it to draw 5 for 5, and Bant can also draw quite a few off multiple exalted triggers. Even if you play Esper or Grixis, you can splash this to draw 3 off commonly played creatures like Skeletal Kathari or Viscera Dragger.
Inkwell Leviathan is nice too for its class of creatures (big blue fatty). It's as if they tried to fix the Isleback Spawn. Kind of like going from Sky Swallower to Simic Sky Swallower except not as drastic.
3 of the 5 shards play islands, plus Conflux encourages playing 5 colors. I'd say this guy is unblockable way more than a fifth of the time.
I wasn't speaking of block or standard (I doubt this will see substantial play in either), more just the game in general. And all other things being equal, Islands will be in roughly a fifth of the decks played.
Ha ha ha ha...ha ha...ha...huh?
I can't make up my minn about the giant fish. Shroud is what makes it decent, BUT 9 mana is ALWAYS a little much. In constructed it's a pain to get the mana and there are better choices and in limited you don't actualy wanna draw that many lands for any other reason. Im thinking it will come in play out of nowhere a few times, but not a good plan in my opinion.
The green card can realy knock the air out of your oponents lungs in the right situation in limited. Imagine holding off an oponents 5/3 just to watch him draw(pretty much) a new hand. Bing!

And now...the dancing banana
Leviathan can be pitched to force, tinkered for, and is not susceptible to the bounce spells that so readily deal with DSC. He is also more readily hard cast at only 9 mana, and island walk may be relevant at times. Only thing holding it back is the fact that it does not have 12 toughness. It may not be as fast a clock as DSC but shroud may be more resilient than indestructible in vintage. This guy could very possibly see play.

Wild Mongrel is NOT strictly better than Grizzly Bears.
The only bad thing about Soul's Majesty is it can be "countered" pretty easily from creature removal. Don't want your opponent to draw seven? Kill that Thresher now, then.
The only bad thing about Soul's Majesty is it can be "countered" pretty easily from creature removal. Don't want your opponent to draw seven? Kill that Thresher now, then.
Well, even if you don't play the Majesty, a Cloudthresher has to be dealt with, usually. Opponent
taps out, play it EOT, then your turn, draw 7 and punch for 7. Yowza!
I do hope Soul's Majesty is an uncommon, just like Harmonize. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I think this is their attempt to make fattie beat down alive again. o_O
Well, the idea for blue originally was for players to counters, whittle, and hard stall until they could get their finisher- A Leviathan or Serpent. But splashing colors helped people get around that. Then 5c came in.
Oh yeah, and Soul's Majesty will probably be the only green card drawing engine, so mana ramp is definitely gonna love it because its so splash-able. It also is great late game if you can get it off, and give you a huge card advantage- (People start to run low mid game, anyway) So definitely playable. Too good for common, a little costly for rare.
And why the hell does everyone keep saying JUND is the green shard? Have any of you read the Naya article, or is creature rush too fugly an idea? o_O Jund is red, NAYA is green.
It's understandable blue control players would be shocked and in denial at the notion of this card, since their decks have been dominating multiple formats for an eternity yet they've curiously never once had to deal with any counter-hosers that weren't ineffectual, narrow CRAP.
I think empyrial archangel is better than the leviathan for manequin which is the only time I could see the leviathan being used in constructed, thus it won't be played outside of limited imo, and will hardly see play even then.
Wow both of those are neat. It's cool to finally see one of Esper's "Giant creatures" hidden under the sea. One of the few big blue creatures to not carry a draw back.
its drawback is never being meaningfully hard cast since if you have 9 mana you'd have either won or lost the game and this is not a game changing card in terms of board position
the green card is good with a power heavy critter though
Whenever I see a card named "Leviathan", I know I'm in for a crap rare. This is a pretty decent one, but still a waste. Leviathans should be cool, make them indestructible!
The green card draw looks fine at first glance, but it's still 5 mana for an uncertain amount of card draw. I'm not convinced of its value yet.

Inkwell Leviathan- A very nice leviathan, big cost but the trample shroud(and to a lesser extent islandwalk) more than make up for it, this will be a pretty huge limited bomb. However it's cost makes it next to unplayable in constructed, in older formats the ability to tinker it into play is nice with it's shroud making it very hard to deal with but I doubt it's worth it over the current options.
Soul's Majesty- more green card draw based around creatures, this one has the advantage of only needing a single creature to work(as opposed to others which have counted the number of creatures). With a 4/4 it's a green Tidings and that's nothing to sneeze at. This should see some play given how much green has been missing Harmonize, it's not quite as good(non guaranteed and more expensive) but it's still nice. A 3rd turn 6/6 or 5/5 avatar followed by this is particularly nice.
In my opinion, people who don't like the Leviathan don't like Isleback Spawn either. They have a really huge body (with the Isleback being able to eclipse the Leviathan late game) and resistance to removal, although the Leviathan hurts a lot harder with its Trample.
Also, nice to see another Leviathan that doesn't suck. Can we cross our fingers for a better future for Leviathans?
And the card draw spell is pretty good. Too bad it's a potential 2 for 1....
I'm loving me that Soul's Majesty. I hope it's an uncommon or something, it seems like one of those things that'd be uncommon.
That's kinda wild though, that it seems that now drawing is one of green's things. I sorta was under the impression that that was a Time Spiral only thing. I guess in the same vein we've had stuff like Sylvan Library and One With Nature before, and there was that Snake from Coldsnap that had the Ophidian ability, I forget what it's called.
Still though, green never really had likes straight out sorcery card draw other than Harmonize. This is totally gonna find a place in G/W aggro IMO. It'd be hot with Chameleon Colossus and Wilt Leaf Liege kinda guys.

new things coming back fog, and L-bolt + a nicer orims chant. +1

And speaking of the Leviathan, not only is he could but I was a bit "dur" and forgot the artifact creature clause... hello Etherium Sculptor. I think this guy will fit nicely into my fiance's budget Esper deck... not to put it down, but I don't think this Inkwell will be a chase rare by any means...
Yeah, this leviathan is going into decks with 4-of sculptors and canonists to lock down their board...meaning you could potentially get a sneaky, evasive 7/11(was that on purpose, wizards? I think this guy already has a new nickname) for 3-4UU
Stinkwell Leviathan - It stinks, well, except when it's reanimated. May be good there.
Soul's Majesty - Generally a win-more card - you have 5 mana and a BIG creature and probably some others, you'd probably be better off casting Overrun and winning the game then and there. This spell strikes me as a truly insane bomb in Limited, however, where games take longer. Another thing to keep in mind - it truly sucks to cast this thinking you'll draw 6 from your Deus of Calamnity, only to have it bite a Terror.
The leviathan is nice i suppose. I play eternal formats, so its definately not anything to get excited about for me.
soul's majesty on the other hand... its gonna go into my Khamal, Fist of Krosa EDH deck I could draw my whole deck with my giant 50/50 wurm tokens, thanks to Wurm calling
There seems to be an aweful lot of shroud going around. It would seem if you're not playing blue to counter or white for indirect destruction, you're going to have issues.
Does anyone remember Simic Sky Swallower? This is his uglier, after the blue family cross bred, cousin. The Blue family has fallen on rough times, as the only thing that saved them from complete extinction... was turning into a bunch of freaking Faerie freaks
Of course, this is now the 2nd bomby rare fatty in Alara block to be abusable via Makeshift Mannequin. Between this and Emperyial Archangel, i think the deck will arise at worst in Tier 2.
I also like this in my artifact reanimator, abusing Scarecrone and Sharuum the Hegamon.

If you consider monocolored decks only, yes. Most decks play more than 1 color, however.
