Matca Rioters - 2G
Creature - Human Warrior (C) Domain - Matca Rioters' power and toughness are each equal to the number of basic land types among lands you control.

I don't really understand the flavour (those who riot are supported by the amount of diversity in the landscape around them...?) but the card itself makes sense, aside from the word "domain" tacked on there where it isn't needed. The design was predictable I guess. Too bad you have to have 4 basic land types in play before it's worth it.

Is there something in particular you don't like about the "Domain" ability word or are you not a fan of ability words in general? I also agree that I'm not getting the flavor but without art and/or flavor text, I guess that's to be expected with some cards.

I think a lot of people are just not fans of ability words in general, and I see their point. The word itself does nothing. The ability would be exactly the same if you removed the word "Domain" from the card. It serves no mechanical function.
What it does do is give you an idea of what the card does "at a glance" if you haven't seen it before, or forget what it does. You see the word "Domain" and know "this gets some bonus for each basic land type" or see the word "Kinship" and think "ok so I check the top card of my deck and if it shares a creature type with this I get some bonus". Also, they make it easier to search for similar cards using gatherer.
I guess if you think that is worth it then ability words are good. Otherwise they're kind of a waste of space.

The Rioters part is probably because something from another shard just appeared and everyone is freaking out, makes sense with domain.
As for Matca is the premier sport among Nayan humans, effectively amateur wrestling, but sometimes with spiked armor.
So basically this card is Naya's answer to Soccer Hooligans

This card is not really my cup of tea. I think it's alright, but I don't think it'll be played. No one plays wake thrasher and I think wake thrasher is better.

There's a difference, though. Cards like Thrasher are vulnerable for a period of time to any removal, be it Peppersmoke or the latest Shock variant. This card just gets bigger with time (barring land destruction or other shenanigans) and never becomes an X/1.
seems like this aught to have been 2 mana and not 3, with wild nacatl grwing to 3 for 1 and only needing 3 basics out, this one (without the extra basic) only getting +2+2 for 2 more mana and needing all five basics out doesn't seem quite on track on the power scale, still it's not a bad card, pretty good just not as good as WT or WN or RWM.

You have to understand this is still a common and all. A possible 3 cast 5/5 is still powerful. Just goes to show how spoilt we are nowadays.
God. Just when I thought Bant was getting the best boost, here comes this card. It'll be devastating along with Wild Nacatl. And to be honest, Naya doesn't even need this boost.

[I was permabanned and all I got to show for it was .... well, nothing.]
Nah, this card is jank. For two mana it could possibly be playable in standard and very good in extended. At three mana there are much better alternatives.

This guy was priced one too much mana to impact any format. Even if Standard gets shocklands via 11th I'm not sure you wouldn't just play Woolly Thoctar instead.
At 1G this guy would've been insane in Extended and could've seen Standard play with Shockland support. Instead, this is a three mana 4/4 about 85% of the time in Extended where that last land to hit domain is tough (my percentages are of course scientifically accurate). My guess is they figured Wild Nacatl was enough for Zoo and they didn't need Yet Another Incredibly Huge Undercosted Monster (tm).
At two mana it would've been the Domain version of Master of Etherium (ish). Now...not so much.
i dont see why anybody would play this over wooly thoctar and doran but if youre using a deck where you need 12 of those type of creatures, then i could see it. like, 2G is an easy mana cost to obtain...but it might as well be BWG since you need 5 basic lands for it to be good
In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck *********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like to to occur and validate you.

NO kidding. This is great in limited formats. It's a good fun CHEAP casual card. Not quite Goyf level, but it's also only a common. So that's good for people making a casual warrior aggro deck. It might even make it into block decks before the 3rd set comes out.
If it HAD been 1G, it would have been the 2nd coming of Goyf. It would have a lower max P/T, but it would get there faster, typically (How often would this be attacking as a 4/4 on turn 3? 8 out of 10?).
I can't believe that people were seriously arguing that this guy might be costed at 1 in the spec thread.
I don't see why people are whining about this guy. There's nothing wrong with a 5/5 for 3. If there is, please, tell me when the rules of Magic changed, and why no one sent me a memo.

They're whining because it doesn't have shroud and the Hypnotic Specter ability too. In other words, because they're idiots.

I'm not sure. I'm leaning towards no, because no one ever talks about Doran in that deck, and Doran makes your Tarmogoyfs +1/+0 bigger.
