I'm seriously getting irked w/ all the down talk on this card.
what shard is vectis agents from... Bant? Naya? no... if I'm not mistaken it's Esper. ESPER! the only shard in the set w/ a card that reduces the cost of cards and a creature that buffs all artifacts (i'll repeat, artifacts) and itself simultaneously, meaning the set Agents is from, is the only set w/ the ability to give you a minimum 3/4 unblockable for 4. So where does comparison to Jhessian come into play? Agents is made for Esper; Jhessian is made for banting. Leave her there.
And what the hell is the complaint about? what she doesn't fit in a 5cmc deck? well dang, she can't do your laundry either, any complaints about that?
not every card is designed for one type of play, not made to be run in one particular way only, and just because it doesn't have " -2 gain ctrl of target creature" doesn't mean the card wasn't cleverly planned.
If everyone looked at cards by themselves game combos and netdecks wouldn't be.
I like the card, it looks like it might have a home in late game Esper agro. Lol, funny I bet people would like this card better if the ability was vice versa. "loses unblockable gains +2/0 until end of turn. do this only once each turn." And only because it wouldn't feel like they were missing out on anything. pshh.

Skill is an ability that relates more so to the type of deck that's built and how said player pilots it. It also relates to the ability to assess the board and use the cards available to you in the most optimal way relative to each situation.
When a deck is filled with above par cards and every play is solid, there comes a diminishing need to "think" for the lack of wanting to use a better word.
If the card cost 2UB, it would be way overpowered and a first pick for sure. Way too good for a common. So, they made it 3UB. Does that 1 mana more really make it go from broken to unplayable?
Just thought I'd mention for fans of the art for this card , and the unused esper chick art, are going to be on ultra pro deck boxes, shown in the spoiler compilation's first page.

you my friend have just shown my the silver lining of this card. by itself meh, with other esperites hot damm!
It seems that everyone has forgotten that five-mana evasion creatures are a staple in limited play. Yes, they often have three power, but that's when they have flying or fear. Funnily enough, creatures that are/can be unblockable are much harder to block, and so making Joanna Dark here have two power when she's unblockable is quite reasonable.
"But why doesn't it cost two mana like Jhessian Infiltrator?" Because G/U is a better combination for creatures than U/B. You fail at game design.
Actually, I don't know if it's better to not have the art used in a card (as the other Esper chick in the previous set), giving at least hope and speculations of a better future... or now she is in the set, but the card is bad and barely unuseful (so far).
Compared to Lemure, it's less splashable, is now an artifact, so can be Shattered, has an activation cost requiring some actual mana, and gets its power dropped by 2 instead of 1.
Sure, unblockability is better than flying. But does it really cost that much more than flying? Considering, again, Phantom Warrior as the benchmark.
And Lemure is a Homelands card, a set not exactly known for pushing power limits. Although it is costed quite fairly, if not spectacularly, even for modern Magic.

I'm going to support this card to the end.
1. There's a reason why they never reprinted the Lemure. R&D knows and understands now, even though they didn't have much experience with it before, what each color is structured by. If that card never existed today, there's NO way the department would give the okay to print something like that. It doesn't support it's color in any way.
2. Inkfathom was designed to fail against even the most minimal creature removal spells (Scar.) Where the Agents is designed to have a higher survival rate, optional higher power, and although it may be another vulnerability, being an artifact is also a strength. In many ways.
3. Using phantom warriors as a benchmark, gaining abilities(namely unblockable) is something that's common in Blue, not Black. As a matter of fact, unblockable in Black is nonexistant beyond Swampwalk and Sewers of Estark which does not count for much knowing what set it came out in. Multicolor unblockable never saw daylight til Dimir infiltrator hit the scene making the agents the sixth multicolored creature yet.
Now look at the block ghastlord and inkfathom came out in.... Are you joking? those two cards make 2/5 of the creatures that wouldn't have to be sideboarded into a UB Shadowmoor deck! w/ only 5 creatures, they better be note worthy! Now lets look at Esper... Woah, what the *bleep*sauce? There are so many combinations of cards (creatures, let me note) that i could put into this deck... man, so many options.
(random person) ...Ok jeez, your so vexing Shusher; my point is Vectis doesn't compare to the other unblockables.
(me cleaning my rifle, to hunt down this 'random person') It was not meant to! turn ghastlord into an arti and run it in Esper, OP much? Same w/ ink, or dimir. It's annoying enough that the set can make laundry loads of 1/1 thopters, can drop a number of heavy hitters at an decreasable amount of 3-4cmc and now you want what? you think vectis agent needs that? throw a Steel of the Godhead on it and stop the crapfest. Please. Lol, even Edge of Divinity if that floats your boat.

Are you seriously going to sit there and try to tell us that being an artifact is a negative? In a block where one of the factions is based entirely around interaction with artifacts? Really now.
And yes, Unblockable is much better than Flying even under normal circumstances. When you consider that Bitterblossom is in the format, they're not even close to the same league.
From a limited point of view, yes the card definitely has its merits.
I never said Vectis Agents should be as powerful as Fugue all while being a common and having an easier casting cost. I simply said it was outclassed.
If I'm playing U/B and plan on spending 5 mana on an unblockable, I think 4 to the dome of your opponent everytime for a one time cost is a much more attractive option rather than having "artifact" interactivity.

I personally don't look at Ghastlord's "unblockability" as an out of pie consideration. I look at it as a creative way of creating a once per turn "buyback" Castigate. It's nice to look at cards from different angles and see some really creative roundabout ways they can do simple concepts.
Com'On this card is useless
Esper shard?? what are they talking about??
seriusly there is someone that will use this card on his deck??
yeah, you can reduce is cost whit Etherium Sculptor and make her stronger whit Master.
but then what?? seems like every one who says that this card could be usefull in a Esper deck NEVER has play an Esper deck even if the deck is Block Legal
what do you use? 4-Masters 4-Sculptor 4-Canonist 2or3-Sharuum 3or4-Towers 2or3 Gargoyles?? come on . even in Esper Shard are better cards.
this card don't have place to be used the only place for this card is in my Desktop.
(please don't say Rogues there are to many rogues out there)

...What does this mean? in reference to what?
Yeah but Ghastlord, isnt playable outside the colors in its cost. Not with basic lands at least and even nonbasic, 5 colored mana cost is kind of ridiculous outside, said mono/two colored decks. your Mind Stone can pay for Agents though. and so can the Reliquary Tower coming out.

Umm, if i'm not mistaken my history of playing Esper has led me to believe that Shard isn't designed to win games turn 10, but to full ctrl the field and possible hand by turn 15. I've heard "what a noob go f* urself!" from unsummoning a hellkite overlord for two turns straight then gather specimens it after working enough mana onto my field to counter if necessary.
Esper, is beautiful. It's blue that's what makes it special. the only color with a window to play those 'why' cards... Even tho i hold Disdain for the color, Esper is still a good set.

I don't think they meant it would deal 4 damage unblocked, rather you would have the option to either attack for 2 unblocked or 4 regular.

1. Baneslayer Angel 2. Birds of Paradise 3. Lightning Bolt 4. Honor of the Pure 5. Goblin Chieftain
My top 5 Zendikar cards:
1. Eternity Vessel 2. Chandra Ablaze 3. Beastmaster Ascension 4. Ob Nixilis, the Fallen 5. Rampaging Baloths
At least, fists of the demigod can be used here making her... fun =p
2 Mana that you only have to pay once, instead of every time you swing.
Inkfathom Infiltrator
Phantom Warrior
For the two-power unblockability in a much more cost-effective package, in those colours.
But a more direct comparison would be to:
Hyalopterous Lemure.
