So late last night i was milling through the well... mill... and i decided that, once and for all, i wanted to join in on this set's rumor efforts. So i petitioned Team Zesty for the opportunity to reveal a card...
And wadya know, i got a response! Here's my go at 'revealing without revealing'
The effect of the card i've gotten is perfectly symmetrical to an uncommon from Kamigawa Block, though two key components have exchanged physical locations on the card.
The good news: this one'll be significantly easier to get in a booster.
The slightly better news: you can easily play it in any deck you might want, since the mana cost is extremely simple. Beyond simple. It's barely there at all.
You might feel a little... betrayed to be beaten down with this card (which is fitting compared to the card set it's counterpart appeared in) and say... Ornithopter. Especially since you could play both it and this card on the same turn, whether you drew or not. In fact, you could make use of this card that same turn too!
Of course the following turn would be first of effectively a twenty turn beating... assuming your opponent had no blockers or removal. Luckily, even if they destroyed your shiny new ornithopter, you could reuse this card with any other creatures you might play. Heck, your iguanar might take out that enemy Thoctar thanks to this little piece.
Oh, and for the name: think Army of Darkness lead actor...
k, got that in your head? now think of a recent trilogy, the last of which bombed... our man was in that too. All three of them actually, playing three different parts.
In the original part of this trilogy, this same actor pits the potagonist against a rather daunting enemy. And that enemy...
yep, he shares his name with this card.
Think you got it? post away! Here's hoping i didn't make it too easy...
Shuko was a bit better than Leonin Scimitar because it could save you 1-5 mana in the whole game. this saves you exactly 1, every time. Equip 0 is waaaaay better than equip 1
This is the type of card is the reason i dont like puzzles. Save the puzzles for things that will actually excite the people, not this limited fodder.
In limited i see myself drafting it sometimes, and it could make a difference. because equipment is always cool in limited.
:/ i debated making a simple puzzle (and come on, it was pretty simple) and just letting the cat out of the bag. I guess i picked the wrong choice, but i'll try to choose more wisely in the unlikely event that i get to reveal another card.
Thanks for baring with me. My apologies to those of you who are dissatisfied.
In regards to the card: i'd say it could be a 23rd in limited pretty easily, and the obvious abuse of esperzoa makes it at least playable. Considering we haven't had much fodder revealed so far, i think (or at least hope) any more that are revealed will be worse, if only to make me feel better about this card. At least this isn't banewasp affliction...

You're completely right. out of all the reprints in this set, why didnt they just reprint that card instead of switching the numbers and making it worse.

That one's a bit easy, from the Vorthos point of view at least:
Shuko - n. / A type of feudal age brass knuckle used by the ninja. Besides the small metal plate that slipped over the knuckles, the shuko had spikes extending outward.
Therefore, reprinting it, unless you made a functional reprint with a new name, would be strictly out of flavor.
Darn, I was hoping this would help me toward an ubercharge.
Wait, no. That's the ubersaw.
In all seriousness, Shuko was a nice card in Kamigawa. It was not too powerful, but useful. It was made to highlight Equip 0, most likely.
However, R&D seems to hate repeatable targeting abilities that cost zero to prevent certain Cleric decks from gaining arbitrarily large amounts of life. So they made this, which ignores the niche that Shuko had.
I wouldn't be too upset if they hadn't chosen a common name. Bone Saw is a very cool name and weapon. The name itself could have granted great design potential, at least a simple but interesting design. But no, they wasted a cool card name on this inferior card.
It would be more interesting, though, if it had Equip 1/
EDIT: Why doesn't MTGSalvation have a 1/2 mana symbol?
Man, i was really hoping for a playable piece of equipment sometime soon. I guess Jitte scared them so much they make junk like this now. I mean, i would happily settle for bonesplitter instead of leonin scimitar.
this? uhg.

He fights you not because you've wronged him, but because you're there.
<+RicoSuave> andy doesn't like grass on his playing field
<+RicoSuave> the easiest answer is to flip em over and play in the mud
<BrassMan> OBV
<BrassMan> WAIT WHAT?
I agree. Bone Saw conjures images of a ghastly weapon separating flesh from bone...+1/+0 isn't scary. The only way it could be less exciting would be +0/+1!

Maybe it's a saw made from bone.
I'm sure all these 0 mana artifacts will get up to something funny again.

damn. I was hoping this card would be cool.

4x Bone Saw
4x Master of Etherium
4x Esperzoa
4x Ornithopter
4x Springleaf Drum (turn 2 Zoa/Master)
capsules, gargoyles... not bad, not bad.

Though ninjas in Alara sounds sexy as hell...

Most likely won't see much play at all though.
Lol, then they'll just forget about them... again

I like the 0cc of it.
That's about as far as it goes though. Cute, but not as amazing as a card named after Macho Man Randy Savage should be...

Wouldn't play it even in limited. The effect is not worth a card.
