A little lemony garden bird told me a secret. Meh, I was never one to keep secrets. At any rate, I'm the thallid guy in my circles, so what better than to introduce a little thallid. So here is my go at a puzzle:
Take a shifty card from a timely set with the card number that is LXXXVI. Of course it has a different ability. It would be silly to just reprint that, duh.
The nifty thing is that when this little fungal infestation expires it is followed up with a 0011000100101111001100010010000001110100011010000110000101101100011011000110100101100100.
Check it with the Orb and you'll see this isn't your grandmothers Thallid (and we all know about your grandmother and fungus). Works great with an Alara mechanic, eh?
Orb:
Thallid: 2
Tukatongue: 2
Spore: 1
Burst: 1
Tukatongue Thallid -
Creature - Fungus (C)
When Tukatongue Thallid is put into a graveyard from play, put a 1/1 green Saproling creature token into play.
1/1
Sorry to the mods for going to sleep last night and not wrapping this thread up. Also my riddle was incorrect because a little lemony bird actually said it was a Thallid and not a saproling, but it is in fact a Saproling. Yay thallid lovers everywhere!
Dunerider Outlaw, but since it's a Thallid it puts a spore counter on when it does damage?
I assume the numbers are going to binary code something... there's 88 digits, so it would divide nicely into 22 blocks of 4, but you can't code letters of the alphabet without blocks of 5. Hmm.
00110001001011110011000100100000011101000110100001 10000101101100011011000110100101100100 = 1/1 thallid, and #86 of TS is Thallid itself, seems a little redundant thus far...

Burst: 1
The set is Time Spiral Timeshifted
LXXXVI = 86
Binary = "1/1 thallid"
It could just be Thallid with "When Tukatongue Thallid leaves play, put a 1/1 Thallid token into play." Maybe it could put in tokens equal to the amount of counters on it. But with that, it probably wouldn't cost one.
Not sure where burst fits in, or how there's only one copy of the word "spore". Fits in with an Alara mechanic is probably devour. Perhaps "At the beginning of your upkeep, put a spore counter on ~. When ~ is put into a GY from play, put a 1/1 thallid into play for each counter on ~"?

I believe it's a 1/1 Thallid that makes Thallids that are the exact same as the old Thallid, only tokens (no CMC). Obviously the mana cost has to be different.

If it had the same ability as Thallid, and it put copies of itself into play every time it hit the graveyard, that would be a bit ridiculous. There'd be no way of getting rid of it except to remove it from the game. And if you had multiple copies in play, that's guaranteed blockers with no drawbacks. Maybe I'm thinking about it too much, but that seems a little too powerful to me.
I was thinking that it would be a Thallid that instead of Saprolings, put full blown Thallids into play. But the simplest wording that I can think of would require copy tokens, and a third instance of "Tukatongue Thallid", but there's only two.
maybe "burst" means something like...OMFG!

saproling burst[/CARD]
something related to that?
saproling burst could've been good with devour, after all

maybe its a 1/1 for 1 green thalid when Tukatongue Thallid becomes sacrificed/dies either return it to play, or put a token into play. probably put a token into play because that is more in the flavor

I have 28 different EDH decks
Decoding his binary text you get:
1/1 thallid
Damn. I am so slow....
Creature - Fungus
When ~ is put into a graveyard from play, put a 1/1 green Thallid creature token into play.
1/1
(the binary text is "1/1 Thallid," and the 86th Timeshifted card is Thallid)

So with that... the mechanic he speaks of would obviously be Devour.
Spore: 1 ? Spore counters? Makes no sense with only 2 references of Thallid...
Burst: 1 ? Huh?

Oh, that makes sense. And pretty much confirms:
Creature - Thallid
Whenever Tukatongue Thallid is devoured, put a token copy of Tukatongue Thallid into play.

It's the poop that keeps on nourishing! <3
Watch our draft videos at mtgovideos.com!
thats kinda what i said, but they wouldnt make a card that narrow. it would only be played in standard and block.
The first time things trigger is when the creature is in play, so you can stack the triggers whichever way you want, saving your thallid.
