Gleam is great, and I could imagine taking it in just about anything with white, although I think Fiery Fall would still be a higher pick in Naya. Traumatic Visions.. bare with me, I'm not sure how amazing counterspells are in limited (unless they're called Lapse of Certainty), so I would probably end up picking the white one over it if I were in bant, or fiery fall if I were in grixis.
Take your monoblack deck, then set aside 14 swamps. Add 4 Creeping Tar Pits, 4 Darkslick Shores, 4 Drowned Catacombs, and 2 Jwar isle Refuge and add 4 Jace, the Mindsculptors. Your monoblack deck is instantly better. Better yet, drop those refuges, throw in some islands and some mana leaks, and lo and behold, you're now playing a real deck. Congratulations. Welcome to the world of competitive M:TG.
The white one's a nasty trick late game in limited, and the blue one seems pretty good to me. Green really got the shaft in this cycle... but they all seem relevant in limited, just some more than others...
I dont really see any of these impacting constructed, however. I mean, once you get to 5 mana, spells are so much stronger than this it isnt funny.
Regarding the 'supercyclers' seeing constructed play, afaik, only resounding thunder does, because its A) in a ramp deck B) 3 mana for 3 damage is ok if it comes down to that and C) 6 damage+uncounterable+instant+Draw card accidentally ends games.

The blue one has constructed promise, I think. It finds control's next land at instant speed which is uber, and then counters at 5 mana, which isn't that bad. I'd run it.

Counterspells can be a good trick in Limited. Especially in Alara where bombs are something people so heavily rely on. For example, you are doing well blah blah blah, then some one tries to cruel ultimatum you. It would be great to have a counter even one at 5 mana in that situation. Plus, the mana fixing early game can be a life saver.

Honestly... honestly... ya know.. honestly... these aren't all that good unless you're landcycling. These are the worst cards of the set thus far by my opinion. Sure if there's a Landcycling deck they're good... otherwsie, I'm sorry they're poor.
I am disgusted by traumatic visions. It's actually useful. What the hell ?! People weren't getting enough love in the Udepartment, so you gotta give em one more? I get to gain 8 life or a land for a measly 6 mana, which is about 3 more than the average. Yeah this reminds of the silly overcosted green kirin, which was an overcosted piece of junk. Life gain-seriously? I think I need to put up an ad whining about Wizards screwing over the aggro players like Dasgost does for control. Cause it's working for him.
P.S. Please spare us the 5 posts telling me how Bounteous Kirin is your favorite card or whatever. That was just one of many examples of how green players get treated in the card-cycle department.

The blue one is TOO GOOD.
Of all of them, the Blue one should have been penalized the heaviest on cost, and actual effect, just for being a land tutor.
BLUE AIN'T FRIENDLY WITH LANDS!!!
ARGH! Endoka was completely right - they wonked the cycle again. Here I thought it'd be a harmless jank pile of land fixers that'll randomly make you smile for mana flood.
If the Blue one does end up making an impact and the other ones don't, I will be angry.
But even if that's not true, the part where the cycle broke (what with the Blue one not being staple effect times seven) just grinds my gears. Because you see it coming and you think it's going to be different this time and then it's not.
Will enjoy drafting Gleam of Resistance, though.

that's an ignorant statement if you're in any way into limited. these are clearly limited fixers, some of which might become staples (looking at you, Gleam of Resistance).

I really love this cycle of cards because it takes effects that tend to be overlooked in limited [whether they be overcosted or too weak of versions], but by adding Basic Land Cycling you can't not play them.
And the glory of it is that each of them carry value if drawn in the late game and your mana/domain is all set. Don't need a land, so I'll take 4 of your life away.....or gain some on my own.....or own this combat step.....or own your Ceredon.....or counter your Overlord. The applications of these cards in limited are exciting.

Wow, these cards are awesome! Especially for Blue and Black since they don't have mana fixing cards like Green does. I can foresee the Blue one seeing some play in T2 constructed.

Conflux really needs to ramp up the goodies, because right now, it's one of the worst sets I've ever seen.
That, and this in my eyes is one of the worst designed sets so far, I mean, some of the cards are so random that it feel like am looking into an Ice Age spoiler or something.
I think people are really underestimating this cycle. Yeah, most of them are not constructed worthy, but most cards in a set aren't. The blue one is actually reasonably good and I can see it getting a bit of play. They are all reasonable in limited, with the white one being pretty good and the red and black ones being mildly good also. In a block like shards, where 3 color decks are the norm in limited, manafixing across all colors actually has value, especially when you can use it at instant speed. The fact that they all have relevant late game modes just makes them better, since that is often the downside of mana fixing: useless lategame topdecks. These are all cards I wouldn't be disappointed in topdecking late game in limited. Yes, even the green one is not terrible.

gleam is sorta good. well, at least you have a chance to form critical mass to make it good, and the high cmc just makes it possible for you to build up an army before you cast it late game, you thin your deck int he early game
the other card... traumatic visions... what's so traumatic about a 5cc counterspell? traumatic for the guy who pops it in limited haha
To be honest, I think people are knocking this cycle a lot more than they arguably "should" be. Note that I'm not saying it's the beesknees, but the manafixing aspect of it is hugely relevant in Limited at all points. Whether it's to thin your deck or not is up to you, but the point is that each card can be used to help you out, whether that's through colorfixing (<3) or through the actual effect (not so <3), but the blue, red and white ones especially can be nice in a pinch.
a time walk that lets your opponent play a land, draw a card
and do anything else s/he wants
yea, real useful
but im liking the counterspell
limited trix are always the best
then you havent seen a lot of sets
please, explain how lapse of certainty, PtE, volcanic fallout, noble heirarch, countersquall, conflux, and who knows what else out of the 100 or so cards still unspoiled are BAD?
Lapse is meh.
PtE is good.
Volcanic Fallout is good only because of the dominance of Fae.
Heirarch is good, but still arguably worse than BoP.
Countersquall is okay, but nothing to write home about.
Conflux (card) is awful.
So, the highlights of the set so far are slightly worse versions of StP and BoP? Joy.

I think this cycle is great for limited. It will be extremely tempting to go 5c often in limited, depending on your bombs.

Have you ever played Limited? Color fixing is necessary in Alara, and the fact that colors that don't normally get fixing are getting it now is important. These cards will see plenty of play in Limited, except maybe the green one.

Limited enthusiast, Legacy miser, and begrudging Commander.
These are really great overall. As has been said numerous times, the land cycling is such a relevant ability in limited. If domain does end up getting played in constructed, then some of these cards may end up seeing some play themselves.
The blue one is really great. If you draw it late game and don't need the fixing, you've got a counter to save until they drop that bomb they'd been waiting on all game. Definitely best one of the cycle.

I've played plenty of limited. The problem is, I also like to play constructed, and there is too much limited filler in here so far that will never see the light of day in constructed.
There is already plenty of color-fixing available in Shards block.
