Absolutely bonkers in limited, regardless of the shard, regardless of the archetype. Every color (sans white, of course, SOMEONE has to get the shaft) got a kick ass ability. The black is absolutely _sick_. -2/-2 for just two mana, for the rest of the game? Good lord.
So first pick in draft always and something similar to Sigil of Distinction in sealed (i.e. Super Bomby with Bomb Sauce).
In constructed, this is poop. That is all.
I love the hype and hype and hype of limited.... then comes the constructed analysis. Legend!
However, lets try a Prismatic Omen control type deck, with domain spells, Jaws of Stone, Corrupt?
I dont thing it would be too bad for casual/tier 2 maybe?
Hmm.... methinks that it will never see play. Awesome card, but unless we get Tron back in standard, there are better options in extended. The blue one should be just plain "Draw a card", and the white one should be 4 life. :\
The black and red one are nuts, and the green one will obviously never see play, since it's a control card... bleh.
Terrible release card. God damn you Wizards.
It's interesting, that's for sure. There's almost no way it sees constructed play (at 5 it would've been a possibility), but casual Domain decks will eat this up. Rocks the house in limited. Definitely think white got shafted, though. Seriously, every other one of those abilities is on par with a 2 mana sorcery (save maybe blue, though it gets the same thing in arepeating form). So white couldn't at least get Sacred Nectar?

While the effects are far more effective and nifty than Staff of Domination, I can reuse the Staff. Might snag one for my Cube, though, since it looks like another one of those "Why did you put another card with five abilities in the Cube?" cards for me.
Staff of domination is the only ability that is better than staff of domination is the black one.
As for the card itself, I don't think it's as good as people are making it out to be in limited, but it is quite good. It looks best in Esper and next best in Jund or Grixis, assuming shard archetypes remain.
Edit:
The card is--
[spoiler]Obelisk of Alara
Artifact (R) 1W, :symtap:: You gain 3 life. 1U, :symtap:: Draw a card, then discard a card. 1B, :symtap:: Target creature gets -2/-2 until end of turn. 1R, :symtap:: Obelisk of Alara deals 3 damage to target creature. 1G, :symtap:: Target creature gets +4/+4 until end of turn.
such a shame it does not untap itself
and i see its the release promo. there goes my hope that a mythic landed that slot
and this is a rare? the shop owners cant be happy about this
Hate to see both white and blue some what screwed over on this, 3 life and a draw then discard at thouse prices seem somewhat rubbish compared to pump and removal. It is playable unless the block speeds up but I personally am not in love with it. Goodness sake gain three life is the kind of thing you throw on a critter to make it a little more playable, not pay 1W for and I refuse to pay 1U for a draw then discard effect outside of sealed/draft more so when I'm paying six for to begin with, once again thats something that blue gets lashed onto a creature at 1U and is free to use each turn.
in the case of blue, is jut balancing the universe's power distribution
I'd love to have this in a limited control deck. Definitely strong enough for that.
As for constructed applications... Pass. Too expensive to really be useful.
I'd say "Maybe in block," but there's no block season for Alara. So I guess we'll never find out. (Unless there's a block Pro Tour, I think there is.)

A card game about Presidents. Stabbing each other. With knives.
Wow, at six mana to drop and limited to only one ability per untap, this is terrible for constructed although I could see this breaking Limited games in half...
I'm still not sold on the black and red abilities both targeting creatures. At an investment of six mana to drop this, 1R to Incinerate a player each turn doesn't seem like it's overpowered although the colorless damage source will be a pain to deal with sometimes.
The rest of the abilities are useful in Limited only. I'm still raging that they can't find a nice small effect for white other than freaking lifegain. Even in Limited games, by the time this hits the board the most relevant effects will be the blue card filtering, the green pump and the red direct damage (I'm gonna assume it says "player" until proven otherwise).
Cute card, but I'd be way happier with a multicolor mana stone; the format desperately needs one of those =)

People hiss and grunt at Mark Rosewater for the state of the game. Few realize, though, that it is Aaron Forsythe who is directly responsible of the current state of affairs due to negligence as head of Magic R&D and a completely skewed view of the game as a whole.
So next time you want to make an avvy with Rosewater pissing on something, take a deep breath and consider pasting Forsythe's face there instead...
di u guys notcide that there is no cards that give u 3 life per turns ?? i mean this card is a toolbox that deserve to be played in 5cc once.
No it's not. For six mana you're not only looking for board impact, but for enough board impact to either win the game outright or put you well in the way of winning. Even when left unanswered, Obelisk of Alara requires several turns to have enough board impact to justify its cost, and by then you've pumped at least six more mana through it.

When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
Is this confirmed?
Seems odd that the Red, Black, and Green abilities all interact with creatures.
Seems even more odd that the Red and Black ability do almost the same thing.
I would have perhaps expected the Red ability to blast target player?
So, are we 100% confirmed that this is correct?
If so, seems like a total mis-fire on design and development's part for making such a flavorful card so boring.
yeah the card is pretty depressing. i'm hoping it's a fake. for that much you should at least get an untap, the blue should be straight draw, the white should be more life. or something creature oriented like "target creature gets lifelink" or something.

Yup, Zesty was our Alara spoiler champ from last season. He's trustworthy.
I like it. But I also play a lot of 5-color and highlander, where something like this is a lot of fun to play around with. I like it enough not to trade my promo, but not enough to avoid being bummed if I pulled one in a pack.

yeah, and 5cc would bless you for this card. (well he probably will like this card anyway)
I smell a janky casual deck with this, Tezzeret, Rings of Brighthearth, Etherium Sculptor, and a bunch of mana-artifacts/lands...totally crappy but has me hot and bothered (a little)

I used to write cube articles on StarCityGames, now for GatheringMagic and podcast about cube (w/Antknee42.)
no no no he means that it is recurable so that it can be used over and over.
Of course there is a difference between the abilities, my stance is that it's just not usually a very interesting one.
Seems like quite the house in three color control. It gives a huge amount of repeatable effects, that all seem fairly priced.
Extended-?
Legacy-Mono Blue Fish.
Anyways, could this be good/fun in Legacy?
Skill Borrower, Sensei's Divining Top and this?
In the same deck you could have a storm-combo as an additional win, Etherium Sculptor and 2 Tops.
