I wonder how many Naya fatties will have abilities that cost 1.
With this, Spearbreaker Behemoth, and theoretically other cards like them, it will be tough to survive the lategame against a Naya deck that will just dominate combat in limited.

I bet we have a case of Jon Finkel sleeping with the girl, then never calling her again and she going bat #%^% crazy and writing this article case closed.
First PTQ top 8 6/13/09(1st) Second PTQ top 8 10/7/09(5th) Second at national Qualifier 5/15/10
Third PTQ top 8 2/12/11 (2nd)
Second at Alberta 2011's
Fourth PTQ top 8 3/17/12(8th)
GP Vancouver 2012 (18th)
eh seems liek a solid 5-8th pick. 5/3, 1 to make him or any creature with 5 or greater power have first strike....seems good(in limited)
Think higher. Streetbreaker Wurm was a multi color 5cc 6/4 with no first strike. It could be taken down with a couple of 2/2s, but it was still a top 3 pick. First strike on a fatty is insanely good in limited, because it's nearly impossible to kill in combat.
RGW is the timmy shard apparently, in limited if your going RGW this is probably a much better card than it looks. I have to disagree with the people calling it filler. a 5 power creature that can easily get first strike is nothing to sneeze at in limited. in constructed its not even close to being playable.

Streetbreaker is 2 colors, this is 3. That's a wider stretch than you might imagine. Oh sure, people can draft bomb after bomb. But I would put my money on a solid 2 color deck over any CDEs that don't cost just 3.

It's gonna be tough to play a 2-color deck in Shards Limited with the amount of fixers in the set and the lack of 2-color card to 3-color card ratio. Wizards is obviously pushing 3+ color decks with Shards so expecting to draft anything less and win will take a good amount of luck.
Solid! I just hope Naya doesn't end up too high on the mana curve...
uh, you havent been paying much attention Since naya's theme is creatures with power 5, most of the cards are these kind of silly fatties with noncompetitive costs ranging between 5 and 8 cmc. Obviously good in limited, though.
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.

Yeah this guy is pretty good for a common. It's no ponder or anything, but i'm glad they gave Naya a break and made this guy common when they could've gotten away with uncommon.
The reason i quote you sir, is for truth. With a "power of five" theme, i don't see how naya can be remotely powerful in standard, with the exceptions of the guys that DON'T fall into that these, like that Cat warriors or... well yeah... the cat warriors. Thoctar is nice too.
It can make combat suck pretty hard for your opponent in Limited, but I was under the impression that what makes first strike good in constructed is having it attached to already efficient, playable creatures. Sort of like a bonus.

Mm, I'm not keen on the 3 toughness, but I suppose that's what its ability is for. Even so, this thing getting Incinerated EOT will not be fun. You'd be much better off playing Wooly Thoctar or that 5/4 haste vigilence jigger for 4. Sure, cool in limited, but Naya has better beasts for Constructed.

URPyromancer ascension RU
lolaphants - the only one card win .deck left in standard UGB
5/10 In my book.
Turn 3 Exuberant Firestoker or an oblisk turn 4 this guy (ping you for 2)? I love 5 drops in shards limited.

The 3 colors push means drafts in Alara will all be about your ability to read signals. Don't read them, die with a non-deck.
Yeah, said weakness is 90% of the cards spoiled for Naya. Coincidentially, the only good naya cards spoiled were the first few ones.

at least its better than that Vashino.
Awesome card, love the art. Jesper Ejsing is great at drawing huge creatures.
