His head's a little too small for his armour. Nice to see that he's in Naya. Me loves me some green cards.

At first I thought the head looked a bit strange too, but the art is so detailed that I still think it's one of my favorite invitationalist card arts yet :). At least it won't call for a redo of the art like Kai's original Voidmage Prodigy ;).
It's too bad Ruel is going to be the last Magic player ever to receive this honor. :/
What about Tiago Chan?
@kman: A little harsh, don't you think? It's one piece of art that's subpar. Don't you remember Wit's End? Did that cause Magic to suck?

How is the armour too big? Ever heard of proportionality? The head just seems small because of the large shoulder-guards. Picture a helmet on him and the raised guards start to not look so out of place.
On another note, he must be a cook. Who else needs six knives and a dog? For those who can't really see, I spot five on the belt, and a tiny pearing knife hanging from his wrist.

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.

Interestingly enough, arguments about head size vs. pauldron size have come up with regards to Diablo III characters and WoW characters. I find them to be mostly moot, but it's something to consider. As far as him being a cook, rangers traditionally carry a lot of knives, but hey, a cook card would be pretty good too!

If Kresh had more than 3 toughness, I'd say he'd see play too. But 5 mana for a 3/3 makes him so vulnerable to basic removal that its really not a great investment. I know everything dies, but not everything dies equally

the art sucks balls. his hand is bigger than his face. and i wasn't just talking about the art sucking i was talking about the whole invatational thing going down the drain.

I like the art itself and the detail but i don't like the picture. A guy in armor with what looks like an enlgish mastiff in armor and a golden eagle. Do the invitationals get to choose how they want the art or no? If so I guess it could make snese but as is I REALLY need to see the card.... gah.

Just kidding.
The cook thing was sort of a joke.
While we're speculating on what he does, I think it's safe to assume he comes into play with a 1/1 Bird token with Flying (probably white or blue) and/or a 2/2 Dog token (probably green) based on some requirement. Maybe not though, because it would be too similar to the Hybrid (if * was paid, do this) cycle and/or the Hedge-mage cycle.
Also, safe to say his creature type is Human Knight?

AH HA! I know why this art bothers me! When I think "ranger" I don't think plate armor I think more leather! He looks more like a knight then a ranger! If he has the creature type "knight" in the set I'm not sure if I'll laugh or cry.
Maybe the whole "out of place head" thing is actually a touch up. I could be the original was much worse and this is actually a fix.
Also, it sucks that they're taking away the invitational card. I don't see why they don't just can the tournament and reallocated the ability to make an invitational card as a grand prize for some other supported event like Worlds. It really doesn't seem like something that costs them money, but it's one of the best prizes someone can get. At least we're doing other YMTC. Maybe those will become more frequent.

I for one, think it looks awesome. I love the new art for Shards and this is no exception.

Why do you say that? Why won't the winner of the 2007 Invitational get a card?

But still the lighting on his head seems kinda off.
Argument for Bant:
His Armour matches the huge knight/lions one, swords etc
The previewed Naya world has nothing like Ruel's equipment
Argument for Naya:
Forests
Animals
I call Bant, unless someone can say otherwise

Definitely a Bant card, as it has a forest and the dog for green, a building and his soldier armor for white, and a bird on his hand for blue.
