This is the perfect 'build around me' casual card. With all the interactions between it and Kulrath Knight, the Godhead and the other new eventide thingy, it could prove to be a very powerful game-winner, or at least a game-equalizer.
Uhm.... did you even played block constructed? With the graven cairns cycle/ vivid land/ Primal Beyond and Reflecting pool it's not that hard to get GG/U/BBB.
why yes, i do play block. why don't you link up a single block deck that supports a BBB spell while casting cloudthresher.
there's a huge difference between casting a mind shatter mid to late game and casting a turn 6 revival. that 3rd coloured mana is huge. and if you're talking primal beyond, you do have to remember that mana doesn't filter. so its' not all gravy. and it's hilarious to think you'll hit all 6 land drops by turn 6 or 7 and that your 4-6th land aren't vivids.
I would have loved to see a :2mana::symbw: zombify variant that put a creature into play with a -1/-1 counter, this however is not so hot at 6 mana.
We still could get something like that I would think. It would just make sense really. Mass reanimation is all well and good, but I can't imagine we won't see a common or uncommon spell or creature ability that will bring back one critter for cheaper.
Well it's not hard to fill your own grave with nice discard outlets out there such as Oona's Prowler and the new discard that can be played from the grave. The trick would be to run Howling Mine or something that will allow you not to lose your draws and miss land drops, then use Mind Stone and accell to pop this bringing out four Demigods or something.
Wait, so is this good? I can't tell. I mean it can go in Lark-ish decks, right? Evoke Mulldrifters, Larks, Sowers, Body Doubles and once half are dead, Bring them all back? I don't think 6 is a completely unreasonable cost if it wins you the game vs. some aggro deck.

Protection from reason (Decadent_Creed can't be blocked, targeted, dealt damage, or enchanted by reason.)

You're not casting thresher, you're evoking it. If you make the deck U/B centered and run 4 of each of those vivids, all you need is some combination two vivid lands with counters on them, reflecting pools, U/G hybrid land, or B/G hybrid land to evoke the thresher. The shriekmaw, drifter, and makshift manequin wouldn't even be off color for you vivid lands.
I mean, if the current 5-color control decks can support cryptic command, thresher, mindtwist, finks, firespout (for red), and oona, it'd be very eash to shift the mana base to support this.
In fact, this plays very well into that strategy and makes carful consideration even more powerful.
Hrm. This is cool. We need more ways to get creatures in the graveyard to make it really good, but still fun. Makes me want to play lots and lots (maby 8 or so :)) of Thunderblust.

This would be insane if you traumatized yourself while packing akromas, 10/10 guy, heartmenders, kulrath knights, river kelpie, 7/2 haste persist guy, sower venser etc. etc. Make a crazy combo deck. Playing wrath/damnations macabre and snout vs. lark and the likes. Mulldrifters Larks Maws. Relics + mindstone and/or coldsteelheart/prismatic lense for accel. I think this might be t2 competative UBw control/combo would be kinda sweet.
People seem to be confused by the name of this card - it refers to a "Pyrrhic Victory" - a fight where one technically wins despite heavy casualties. Pyrrhus was a general who faught against the Romans and "won" every battle, losing far less troups, but the Romans had so many solidiers that constant victories, he eventually lost the war to attrition.
So the same makes sense. What I find odd is references to Roman history on my Magic cards.
Twilight's Call costed 4BB, with the option to go instant. I'm assuming that when they designed this, they figured the "-1/-1" was more powerful when worked into a deck, and therefore "upped" the cost by adding more colored mana? Just curious... Cause it's also potentially a downside.
Anyways, its a good card. Now- would you draft it?
Debtor's Knell was never really all that great in Kamigawa-Ravnica or Ravnica-Time Spiral Standard. Pyrrhic Revival is better in that it costs slightly less mana and happens at once instead of requiring you to wait a turn. On the other hand, the creatures are weaker when they're returned, and it returns creatures for your opponent too.

That's exactly what I meant. Pyrrhus is commanding troops in Shadowmoor now? It's nonsense! But I guess I should just resign myself to Galvanic Arcs and Hypervolt Grasps.
I have a theory:
This spell has retrace.
Look at the spoiler: Each hybrid pairing has one rare instant or sorcery, and for each of the other pairings, that card has retrace. There are no other W/B cards with retrace, and Wizards doesn't do 4/5 of a cycle usually.
Just a thought.
Yea, we've already discussed this.
There are 12 retrace spells (Orb). Maro said that there is a cycle of commons, a cycle of rares, and 2 other cards. We have the cycle of commons, the cycle of rares except the :symwb:, and three other cards:
reanimation is white black?
why do they all cost crazy lots?
