Pyrrhic Revival sounds interesting as well.... from the meaning of the word (Pyrrhic victory = victory that is in fact not a victory), I assume that you will get the critter back, but very, very weakened.

Persist has had so much of a bigger impact on Standard than wither has that it'll be interesting to see if this Necroskitter card and other cards in Eventide can make wither matter more in Type 2, just to give us a different type of deck.

- Jon Finkel Facts: (follow the link at left to see more Facts, or add more Facts!)
- Chuck Norris counted to infinity twice—because he was trying to count how much damage Jon Finkel deals in an average game.
- Jon Finkel believes in maintaining a healthy, balanced diet. He gets all his fiber from eating Magic cards for breakfast, and all his protein from eating Magic players for lunch.
This will see play, at least in block for sure. What a cool card.

Everything is true in some sense, false in some sense, meaningless in some sense, true and false in some sense, true and meaningless in some sense, false and meaningless in some sense, and true, false, and meaningless in some sense. Repeat this 666 times and you will reach enlightenment.
In some sense. The only good fnord is a dead fnord.
I like this one.. It's a 1/4 which puts it out of Nameless range.. and it has wither so you can block a creature.. then kill the creature at the end of your opponents turn.. and attack with it on your turn.. The creature even comes under your control without any -1/-1 counters on it!
The last part could be a bit of a double-edged sword as well (which is why I like the card)
When your opponent's Kitchen Finks dies the second time, you'll get a fresh new one. Of course, once that one dies, your opponent will get the weaker version back. tq
Wouldn't this kind of effect be better suited in blue? unless scarlet shows us some definite proof that this is necroskitter, and is black, i wont believe this card isn't blue, going by another name. perhaps a r/u card? but its not "necroskitter".
~Lil Kalki
Does Blue usually steal creatures from the grave? Or have wither for that matter? I think not, on either count (short of Oona's Gatewarden) Black, on the other hand, does both things all the time.

I really have wanted to see Wither make a bigger impact, and I think this guy might help push it in the right direction. This guy is really good in block, might see some T2 love if ALA and EVE support it.
it'll make Blowfly Infestation decks absolutely sick and twisted... find a way to kill everything on thier side of the field.. without your own.. Black has Creature Steal (other than Enslave)

I bet we have a case of Jon Finkel sleeping with the girl, then never calling her again and she going bat #%^% crazy and writing this article case closed.

But that card's old - if it were printed today it'd be black. But the effect is more similar to this than other graveyard reanimation, so I can see where the confusion comes from.
You'd be wrong. It was sort-of reprinted, again in blue: Fool's Demise.
Re: Pyrrhic, first, kudos for everyone spelling it right.
Just FYI, a Pyrrhic victory is not, exactly, a victory that actually isn't. It's a victory where the cost vastly outweighed the gain. This is most normally viewed from a casualty assessment.
As such, a Pyrrhic Revival card would imply that the Revival isn't worth it. E.g., bringing a creature back into play, but with a number of -1/-1 counters on it to make its toughness 1. Or, perhaps it dies again almost immediately.
Wraith: Nice catch. I think it could be Footsteps, but with -1/-1 counters on it instead of a sac condition or something. Or perhaps both, if it's cheap enough.
Thanks for the rumor. Necroskitter, as a 1/4 for 3 it's got nice defensive stats(and survives Firespout). Wither is always nice. What sells it for me is not the ways to abuse it with out cards but the simple fact that with this in play your opponent won't want to attack with Kitchen Finks or Murderous Redcap and when either of them die after persisting you get them for your very own.
msun: Knives scoop ice cream.
Highroller: No they don't, knives don't scoop. Spoons scoop.
msun: Well, knives SHOULD scoop icecream.
Highroller: We have spoons that do it. Moreover, the shape of a knife that would scoop ice cream would make it horrible for performing the functions of a knife.
msun: Highroller, you bring up spoons as though they were the utensil used for scooping ice cream.
Unfortunately Eventide is opened last. Though you could still take cards like Incremental Blight WITHOUT hoping for this guy since it's good all on itself.

The card itself is cute. I wouldn't play it.

This isn't a blue effect.
You're essentially stealing something out of an opponent's graveyard. That's a black effect.

Why? Graveyard theft has always been black. See Debtor's Knell, Nezumi Graverobber, Puppeteer Clique, Animate Dead, Beacon of Unrest... What makes it blue?

I don't think it'll do much in standard, but I'm sure it'll be awesome in block.
You'd be wrong. It was sort-of reprinted, again in blue: Fool's Demise.
But I see this card as being perfectly black.

Then it dies, and they get it back with the persist, no? Worth it? Not really.
