no, even after stigma is gone, that player cannot gain life, the flavor text even hints at that
*sigh*
Yes. See, the joke was that you would Momentary Blink yourself, momentarily removing yourself from the game, thus making you a new object so it no longer applied.
Obviously, this is not only blatantly illegal, but not even handleable by the rules. Which is the joke.
Looks like we've got the Name of the Demigod.. Nobilis... intresting.... Yet.. tasty

Ravarshi Kashaku, Ancient Dragon of the Darkened Realms;
The Merciless Lord of Torture, Permanently Bound To: ">[THE PACK] 11/5/63 - 11/25/09 Goodbye mom, i'll always love you...
sure, it's land tax of steroids, but the reason why land tax and bob were both powerful is because it can be cast on 1st 1st few turns.
this is pretty restrictive both in cost and what it can fetch. if you're running just 10 plains in a half and half deck, then you'll still end up with land draws which, paird with this effect, is still less gas than bob.
the only thing it has over land tax is that it can fetch tundras and hallowed fountains as well.
as for the comparison with geddon, remember that when you hit 4 mana, geddon says byebye to all lands in play at once. that's the contrast
bob and land tax are 2cc or less, so they can hit early and gain momentum towards and advantage there. geddon may cost 4, but will eliminate a lot fo stuff at once.
another example is: landtax hits play turn 1 and you use it trun 2 and 3. you can potentially thin your deck for 6 lands before you CAST endless whatever, much less get its effects.
bob will also hit turn 2, which makes for a blocker, a threat and crad draw on turn 3 instead of turn 5.
geddon will hit on turn 4, but knock off at least 3 of the opponent's lands on the same turn
Yeah, it is slow, but probably fairly so. The first thing I thought when I saw it is I need to play it on turn 3. Hence the ramp comment early on. We know how powerful Bob and Land Tax were, and this has the potential to be even more consistent because you are not losing life or delaying land drops. I, for one, am excited about this. Of course, I was excited about Woodfall Primus too, so whatever... Good night, I'll be dreaming up decks with this little monster tonight.
edit: by the way, imagine a Bust with this in play...
Doomgape - Again with the stupid names. They were going to call it Doom Gaze, but realized there were some "legal issues". True story, I swear. Lord of the Pit called, and he wants his shoes back. This is nothing more than a big Timmy rare, although I have to say that the life gain is a nice way of making a iconic black creature feel both black an green without necessarily feeling like both.
actually, in the color that printed dark ritual, cabal ritual and birds of paradise and llanowar elves, this baby can come down very early for a 10/10 creature that almost can't be killed. maybe by wither. but it'll still take a lot. ok, fine uname is there. but its blackm making it immune to that nonblack clause, and 10/10 making it immune to flame javelin plus a loxodon hierarchy even.
how are you gonna cast hierarchs without the lands since you dumped two of them for the two recurred chimes?
you cant cast STE before turn 3 since you're chiming away.
You're gonna draw another land in the three turns you have to not miss a beat. And I think with this hand, the small tempo loss with the Elder is worth a Mindstab turn 2.
BUT WAIT! You have to discard the lands too. But who cares. They're probably discarding something much better.

Retrace will be broken, if there is even *one* halfway good card to use with it. Turning useless cards into exactly what you need... insane. Especially with the Salvage in the format for a bit more - you can always draw the retracing card you want. Forever.
The whole retrace mechanic seems kinda broken with Life from the Loam. But breaking it will sure be fun. Raven's crime is a definite staple.
Unmake? Sweeeet. One of the best removal spells ever (or at least since Putrefy and Mortify.)
EDIT: And the plainsfetcher is quite interesting. It's a good card in search of the right deck, which would have to be mono-white control. Are enough tools to make this deck yet? What with Wrath, O-ring, Runed Halo, Finks, Unmake, Twilight Shepherd, and this, it may be worth looking into.
Unmask shouldn't be printed. The flavour of black is that it can't kill black creatures, and white, recently, can only hit attacking/blocking creatures. This throws both out of the window. It's three mana, but in MBC, it costs the same as Dark Banishing. This is strictly better than most removal printed, especially recently.
unmake.
black has never been able to remove anything that's not black. or, more aptly, at 1B, it only had terror. then they decided black can kill artifacts and made it 2b with dark banishing. but it can kill black creatures, with a catch. see ashes to ashes.
so with the right mana, black can kill black. even plague wind should give you that much of an inkling.
as for white, it's been comdemn and wing shards and recriprocate. but o ring and crib swap weren't restricted.
so at the right mana cost, again, anything's possible. and this si definitely the right mana cost.
Yeah, if the most expensive spell you have is 5 mana, just wait to hit 5 mana before playing Endless Horizons, then BAM, no mana-flooding the entire game.
Well, if you have 5 mana and your biggest spell costs 5 mana, you probably want to have some breathing room so you can play more than one spell in a turn. Most WW decks that I know of top out at 4 mana anyway.
Doomgape - Again with the stupid names. They were going to call it Doom Gaze, but realized there were some "legal issues". True story, I swear.
Ha ha! Man, that brings back memories. The first time I ran into Doom Gaze while flying around in the airship, I was like "WTF?!" I was somewhat startled to say the least. And then after fighting him a couple times, I managed to beat him and procure the Bahamut Esper. Good times.

GOD DAMN FIGHT THE MAN, MAN!!! GRRRRRRR REBEL MAN YEAH!!! GET OUT YOUR TIE-DYE T-SHIRTS AND SOME ATOGS WITH PEACE SIGNS MAN! YEAH! LETS GROW OUR HAIR OUT LONG AND COLOR ON OUR MAGIC CARDS WITH SILVER SHARPIES TO REBEL! YEEEEAH!
You're gonna draw another land in the three turns you have to not miss a beat. And I think with this hand, the small tempo loss with the Elder is worth a Mindstab turn 2.
BUT WAIT! You have to discard the lands too. But who cares. They're probably discarding something much better.
a 60 card deck is recommended to have 24 lands, but i run 19. say you stick with 24.
if you draw 4 in your 1st hand like you illustrate, that means you only have 20 lands int he deck.
probability dictates you're 4 land draw is good for 6 nonland cards, meaning your next three draws are likely to be nonland. and if you run STE, that means you're running close to 1 to 3 land to deck ratio. meaning you might not draw a land til turn 4 or 5, if you activate ste too early and filter even more.
Endless Horizons - it provides card advantage if it sticks around, but the fact that a) it's 4 mana and b) it doesn't have flash makes the card largely useless. There's still no reason not to splash blue or green if you need CA.
Swirling Spriggen - this card will be decent in Limited. It's a 3/3 for 4 mana with a good ability, and Eventide brings even more auras into the pool.
Unmake - simple, elegant, and powerful. It's not always going to be better than Terror, but it's certainly playable in Standard and Block Constructed.
Worm Harvest - unplayable jank. This card alone isn't good enough to justify trying to get all those lands into your graveyard. Should more graveyard-related cards surface, however, it could possibly become playable. I somewhat doubt it, though.
Scourge of the Nobilis - Random fact of the day: nobilis is the Latin word for, guess what, noble. Like the other auras, this card is very good in Limited and more or less unplayable in Constructed.
Raven's Crime - it's sort of a dumbed-down Deep Analysis, discarding instead of drawing (and providing less per-cast CA as well). This card is good. It has to be built around, but it's good.
Outrage Shaman - Limited bomb, obviously. I doubt it's playable in Constructed (not with Furystoke Giant in the same slot), but this guy will be crazy good for Drafts and Sealed Deck.
Shorecrasher Maniac - this card's power depends on the power of all other green-blue hybrids. I can't say how the archetype will play yet, or if it will be very good. He's probably not playable in SSE Limited, however, because of the scarcity of blue and green creatures.
Stigma Lasher - this guy is an absolutely amazing man for two mana. He's going to be a staple in the various R/x aggro archetypes for Standard and Block. He even has Wither - screw you, Kitchen Finks!
Needle Specter - probably not playable in Standard or Block. Hypnotic Specter isn't, and I don't really expect this guy to be. However, he is pretty nice with a Bad Moon out.
Call the Skybreaker - it's 7 mana. It's a Limited bomb. It's unplayable jank in Constructed formats because a 5/5 for 7 isn't that powerful.
Doomgape - synergistic with Persist, but probably too slow to be playable in Constructed or Limited formats.
Man, Unmake is going to rule the Pauper circuit. Also, the 2/1 blue(green) guy for 2 is nice enough on his own... but he's going to need other hybrid support to truly shine, obviously.

Okay, you have access to three lands, one block (if necessary), a Mindstab and a Smother. You can:
1. Draw another land.
2. Draw a Sensei's Divining Top.
3. Draw something for 3 mana or less (perhaps even another Elder).
From my experience the only 4 drops in rock style decks nowadays are Heirarchs and Baloths. That's about 4-8 cards you can't play. The rest of the deck will either be something good, like Vindicate, Eternal Witness, Tarmogoyf etc. or something that will help you get to four lands. It's not the end of the world.
My illustration obviously wasn't meant to be taken that you drop a Heirarch turn 3. That's just probably what you're gonna end up doing later on.

Protection from reason (Decadent_Creed can't be blocked, targeted, dealt damage, or enchanted by reason.)
Stigma Lasher - I hate this card. Not because it's a hyper-efficient red beater with Wither. Not even because it hoses lifegain so permanently and cheaply. It's because this thing has so many horrible memory issues it's not even funny. It's a rules nightmare that isn't "grokable" enough to let it slip by the rules, in my opinion. I know that the game technically has ways of handling this kinda thing, but I don't like it.
What's so hard about remembering who's been hit by it? A player needs to be hit by it only once and then no more life gain, period. Even if the Lasher dies after hitting you, you still can't gain life. Even after it's been removed from game, you still can't gain life. Even if you grab it and tear it up after hitting you, you still can't gain life. In a normal, 2-player game, you only need to check on one guy usually and two at most. Multiplayer isn't so bad either; just make a list of who's been hit by it.
Oh sure, it's a Timmy card, but it's not something everyone else should overlook. 7 mana hybrid for a 10/10 trampler?
a) It's hybrid so it's not that hard to pay for, and
b) involves a color (:symg:) that's known for mana acceleration;
c) both and are colors who can search for or draw creatures, or create a token army of them, while
d) its penalty is somewhat mitigated by life gain- you either eat your opponent outright or improve your position long enough to hit him with another threat.
Doomgape- it's a big mouth that swallows whatever's in front of it. What do you expect it to have for a name?
And between this and Lord of the Pit- I'll take this any day.

Check out my articles on http://puremtgo.com/ I'm the nerd you see there... wait, not that one. Nope, not that one either... yeah. That one.
1. Are the changelings casual fodder? They seem pretty worthless otherwise. In draft they're going to be pretty poor I think. You'll only get one chance at UG cards. Unless you take them pretty much every chance you get you won't be looking at more than like 3 UG cards. It's like the kinship cards from morningtide but MUCH worse. And I don't see them having any home in T2 or block either. I suppose it's possible, but I doubt any of the hybrids is going to have high enough power level to support a full deck based around them.
2. Everyone's bagging on Call the Skybreaker, but I suspect it will be very good in limited. Once you get to seven mana turning every land in your deck into a 5/5 flyer is very strong. This card will win a good number of sealed matches. It might be too slow for draft, but it is a very powerful card in limited and if you can get to the mana for it, it'll be good. It might have a place in some kind of red mana ramp deck. I doubt it. Still it's not ridiculously bad.
3. The dream salvage/raven's crime combo does look very saucy. Don't know if it has a use anywhere, but I'm going to give it a look in draft at some point.
4. Outrage shaman is quietly a very strong limited card, especially for mono-red decks. The mono-red archetype could be very saucy in SSE drafts, even losing a pack of jaws of stone.
5. Retrace is AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! I love. It does look like it could be a bit broken, but that's a risk you have to take to get crazy powerful things.
6. Doomgape is timmy goodness. What's not to love? And the art and flavor text are both awesome too.
7. Scourge of the Nobilis is sucktackular. It's disappointing that the first god enchantment they preview from Eventide is a good bit worse than all of the shadowmoor god enchantments. Clearly it's not on the same level as Steel, Shield or Runes, but it even loses to helm and fists. The helm can provide nice card advantage and a fisted black red creature becomes very very difficult to trade with. This one does very little unless you've got a creature who can safely survive an enemy's blockers. And if you're in such a situation you're prolly in pretty good shape. No card advantage, no evasion, no making a creature ridiculously hard to deal with. And especially considering that you're going to have far fewer chances to get r/w hybrid creatures, it loses all around.
8. Unmake is awesome. Not for the card itself, but for turning that creature cycle into spells. Spells are always more fun than creatures, so it's nice to see.
Stigma Lasher is quite a bit better than Unmake, I think.
All of you seem to be missing the fact that Unmake is often worse than removal like Terror in Standard and Crib Swap in Block. Not to mention Shriekmaw.
